Just bear in mind guys that the 6600K and 6700K are the only "officially" available models at the moment, the non K series haven't actually launched yet so you will see these appear in configuration pages shortly.
And yup, the P716 is the P870 as confirmed above - quick caveat that config pages may be online but until ther are linked to in the website menu system and actually launched by us the config pages are basically place holders. This doesn't mean that the options are necessarily not correct, just that pricing and so on may not be completed so don'tif you see a price on a not-yet-launched model config page which doesn't look right!!
-
-
So do we know when we might be able to configure one of these beasts and get it sent to me?
-
i had an Alienware configured with the 6820 on a New Zealand site....i dont know if that is relevant or not
-
Is the chassis metal like the alienware m18x or is it plastic like the P770DM? Looks like it could be metal from the pics on the first post, but maybe that's just me being wishful
-
6820HK is BGA, so "integrated CPU" - the 6600/6700 and K series are socket 1151 so "desktop" - all have different Intel launch dates and also depends on the sales area. For example, in Australia and other west Pacific countries they can already offer for sale some CPUs which we can't in Europe and N/S Americas.... :-(TomJGX likes this.

I never got staggered release dates for hardware or software :/

The staggering of the location specific launch dates is causing everyone problems, no one really understands why they do it. All it does ultimately is to confuse the public - we are getting on for 3 weeks of W. Pacific being able to offer components for sale that the rest of the world isn't even allowed to advertise yet - and yet each area will get stock at the same time....
There are easy arguments to make with regard to staggered dates though, marketing, fab etc etc. -
i think i should go ahead and link the phoenix owner's lounge over at TI:
http://forum.techinferno.com/showthread.php?t=11022
it includes pics of the copperfest going on inside the phoenix (that 980 heatsink is INSANE!
), looks like my assumption was right in that it uses both gpu fans normally covering the two sli'd up gpus.
also contains a clear pic of the crazy 980 custom mxm board!
as always, thx to @Prema for that info
enjoy!
edit: ah looks like prema linked to it already in the second post of this thread! so if anyone hasnt seen it yet, here it is one more time

How about you / Prema posts this interesting information so all can see it, without jumping through hoops before it's visible, please?

Such a tease...
-
That 5 post rule is there for a reason (same as here with PMs). We had too many people just grabbing mods and other stuff and run around the net with it.
If you are going to get this model and want hardware, software and BIOS Mods, then making a simple user account will always come in handy as the rules here don't allow us to do, what we are doing over there...Last edited: Sep 25, 2015 -
The thing is, I made 5 posts on the forum, it says so on the profile too, but it still does not let me check out the pictures posted... Go figure.
-
Don't worry sometimes it just takes a moment for the system to auto-upgrade your account.

Prema, thank you
Is there a way to make a post display the image inline, rather than quote it as a download, that might be a way around the limitation. At least that way there would be fine control over what is protected, and what is open to view for all. -
The Forum code is broken (GD missing, images can't show as thumbs) since the last update and if I attach an image that way it'll show in full res (being WQHD in this case)...
It wouldn't show any images at all, which delayed my post a good while...we got around it yesterday and the guy with the server key is going to fix the rest soon-ish...
EDIT:
FYI:
Normally you don't need to make any posts to see pictures, it's a bug we are working on fixing. I know it's bad timing but I couldn't delay posting them any further. Should be fixed later today!Last edited: Sep 25, 2015 -

Does anyone have a price estimate of this one with the gtx 980? I hope it won't go past 3k.

Thanks for the pictures @XMG! Just look at the size of those heat sinks... And those vents at the bottom and at the back... This thing will be a MONSTER!

Just wow...
The cpu fan shares no heatpipes with the gpu fans? Wonder why they did that. The p7xxzm shared heatpipes and afaik it worked better..
How noisy would 3 fans be under full load?
-
All vents blowing to the back ! Huge thumbs up from me. I really disliked the cpuvent blowing to the side on my old P505. It felt louder and I had to make space to not heat up other devices on my cramped desk. Also what's that round thing below the vent on the right? Is that the bass?

Interesting ... no Service Manual yet, so ... how much voltage/amps are on that MXM-power cable?
With an SLI setup you'd have that thing for free, so may use it for 'other purposes' (a fan mod, say).TomJGX, Mr Najsman, jaybee83 and 4 others like this. -

Yes of course, they are free to share! Please keep the XMG logo on the bottom right so people know that they are photos from an official source

Thanks for the pics @XMG Now that's a bottom cover! I also like the power button. IMHO, it looks better than the ZM's flat-glossy.

even tho im a total ZM fanboy i actually have to agree on this point
as for separate cooling between cpu and gpu, i think it should be fine, especially for the increased efficiency in skylake, thus the cpu drawing significantly less power and generating less heat at identical clocks compared with haswell
looking forward to the first oc results here!

I'm not trading my ZM because of it!
-
Because of the two variants on cards, it kind of makes sense for separate cooling. What I would like to see is a one piece for cpu and dual gpu, four heat pipes to each set of fins (the fins can take it, it's a matter of routing the fourth one in the confined area), two pipes running and being shared from the cpu across the top portions of the cards with one heat pipe running over each GPU becoming the fourth pipe on each of those fins, with some heat sharing between plates to equalizer temps between master and slave gpu cards... This is spit balling. Thoughts? I also noticed there is one heat pipe significantly thicker than the other two on the gpu (center pipe) while the cpu has two thicker pipes and the fins (meaning radiator) seems fairly thicker...

If I have the money next summer, I may sell my OC Batman with mods, 4.5ghz all day, to someone for a tricked out version of this!!! ;-)

next summer? cmon, thats when ull be upgrading to a pimped out pascal machine, buddy
while ill probably be looking around for a gpu upgrade to invest my first full salary in

Not sure about those ubiquitous 'painted heatsinks', though ... that's for AW kids.
Might be the beginning of the end * ... next thing you know they'll spend waste money on websites, upload bandwidth and booth babes.
* Would've linked to 'Dark Corridor - The End Is The Beginning Is The End', but that needs ru/ua proxy (too slow).Prema likes this. -
Well aren't the black anodized heatsinks better off for heat radiation? Sorry if it's a noob question, but I'm not that much into the scientific part of these things...
-
Very pleased that the CPU does not share heatpipes with the gpu
Now it's more like previous AW 17/18. Never liked such a solution with shared heatpipes. Just look at the fiasco with shared cooling in the new modern Aw models

We have seen clevo do a single GPU and dual slot cooler back in the 480m days.

-
Nah, it's a gimmick. Black traps heat radiation, either keeping heat longer or absorbing heat from its surroundings.
Hence the outfit of black metal bands; it keeps them warmer in the frozen north
.
-
So I guess it's only painted, not anodized?

Dear Clevo Santa, is there any hope for an X99 or Skylake E laptop someday?
And is there a 15" variant of this panel?Last edited: Sep 26, 2015TomJGX and deepfreeze12 like this. -
No!!! X99 is an incompatible chipset, therefore impossible!!! Now if you meant socket 2011v3, I can't answer that (I believe v3 is what it is up to for Skylake E)...
-
Both, because otherwise the dye wouldn't stick to the copper. Maybe in ten years or so we'll have proper graphene heatsinks (and -pipes), then the black colour would be warranted.jaybee83, deepfreeze12 and ajc9988 like this.

Reading all of these advancements really gets me excited about what is going to be available when I finally look to sell the batman in a year or two. I hate to admit it but the DM in my opinion looks a little better than the batman :/ just not enough for me to want to sell it

I mean either X99 or Skylake E, hope to see something with more than 4 cores.
Was disappointed to learn the new Skylake mobile Xeon E3-1500M v5 are merely BGA quad core i7 with ECC memory and lower clock.

Look up K-core by thermacore!
also research graphene heat pipes and limitations! If you can afford the prototype (may require a purchase of 5), then you get copper with graphene as a core, get the vias to allow a break in between the graphene so the solid copper allows the heat to enter the graphene along the axis with great heat transference, then put better heat pipes on, and K-core radiator fins... Just a suggestion...
-
pretty sure the black is used for anti-oxidation purposes
