The combined 1080 single heatsink that uses 2 fans should be able to do the job just fine with the 6 heatpipes.

This heatsink worked also well for DM1 with 980

I wonder what's the color gamut (like sRGB and adobe RGB percentages) for the 2 other non-4k screens. Wasn't the old 1080p something like 72% sRGB? what's the 1440p?
-
Just throwing it out there, but I have been editing photos on my 17" laptop lately instead of my 27" $900 4K desktop monitor because of how great the colors look after it's been calibrated. Also 60 fps at 4K ultra settings is pretty awesome.

cmon display manufacturers, stop compromising! we want 10bit 4k 100% adobe rgb screens with 240Hz refresh rate, IPS panel and 1 ms reaction time that dont cost 1000 dollars! do it already

So did we find out the hid doesn't let you call and ask for the vapor chamber it a single 1080?
Also anyone with a single 1080 want to chime in about how warm the hand gets during extended gaming periods.

The review above has x2 1080's and has a pretty warm keyboard area. Does a single 1080 do the same thing? I would imagine a single 1080 would yield better results.

I wanted user feedback. Thanks for trying though. I want to know if I can live with the Temps or if I have to look elsewhere.

People tend get offended so easily these days.
P>S I hope nobody gets offended by this statement, That will be ironic.

Lol whats so wrong about his reply, he said he needs hand on experience, maybe single 1080 on this particular laptop heats up the keyboard, maybe not, doesn't matter if its 2x, theoretical =/= realism sometimes.
Don't want to sound impolite, just reduce the sensitivity, you seem the only one triggered.
Cheers.

No i was not referring to his post. I had written about a different matter. Then i though some people may not be ok with that so i deleted it.dmxt likes this. -
I own the P870DM2, with a single 1080 and the vapor heatsink. At full fans (well technically 80%, you can't set it any higher), when playing Witcher 3 for extended periods of time, the gpu and cpu never goes above 70c. This is at ultra settings with hairworks on at 1080p. At full fans the keyboard is pretty cool, I don't notice it, having said that i only have my left hand on it. When I have the fans set to default, which I normally do, as the full fans is just to loud, the gpu/cpu temps go to the mid 80s, I don't notice it on my left hand, but the keyboard itself is very warm. Especially around the touchpad which is above the gpu. Hope that helps.

Yes exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a million.
Were you the one that got a vapor chamber cause they were out or something at hid or did you ask for the vapor chamber on a phone order? If you added it, how much did that add on cost?

I'm currently getting my P870DM3 from HIDEvolution and I was able to get the vapor chamber for my single 1080 GTX by contacting them. It costs $75 for the upgrade. I was helped by Ted and Donald.jaybee83, temp00876, SirSaltsAlot and 3 others like this.

Ei bro, you have some update? And please can you tell me which one is the model of g751 fan? Because there are 2 kind of fans for this model.
This ADDA fans start to destroy my brain.. to much noise when play games.
Thanks bro
However i just contact hid for change my cpu heatsink due to is completely warped.. and im waiting the new hs...in just 5 seconds i have a overheating with CLU.
Somebody know how to fix the problem? If i put a thermal pad?Last edited: Oct 11, 2016dmxt likes this. -
It would be nice to post temps between heatpipe heatsink vs vapor chamber with single 1080,
Haha sorry, I hope its not fan related (if you know what I mean) XDPrimeTimeAction likes this. -
Yep I got the vapor chamber for free because they didn't have any of the single heat sinks.
I'll take some screen shots later of the temps, so if someone has the single cooler we can compare them.

Fn +1 gives you full fan speed.
-
even without the software installed? -
You can activate it even while you're waiting for the BIOS to spin up.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Indeed and with the software you can also do Fn + 2 for automatic and Fn + 3 for custom fan profile.

Do we know if the 3k screen releasing soon is the same tn-wva that alienware is using on the aw17 r4? (Also coming soon)
Is there any info about the panel known?

Does this review proves that the fan noise is somewhat subjective? -

Yeah. Also with reboot if you previously activated maxed fans.

I hope it will come with the new technology tobii eye tracker.. but maybe is exclusive of AW...

What I'm hoping for, more so, is that the screen is as good as the TN FHD screen on the msi gt73's. Viewing angles and colors. Although I'm hoping for a little higher gamut like the 4k screens seems to be famous for. I've seen the gt73vr in person and the screen is slick.
Is it stupid that I'm even struggling to decide between a gt73vr pro or a p870dm3 non sli with a vapor chamber?
The acoustics, thermals and screen are very nice on the gt73vr pro but the phoenix is so much sex....ugh

Plus you have an option for a second 1080 later..
-
Both of them are good.. BUT if you want the real beast go straight to phoneix.

It will still need some work to tweak it properly of course.

And that's the part that perhaps worries me most. It's not really an open and go package. It's like I bought an old hot rod and it needs some garage time before I can even take it out.

Hey Meaker have any news about the panel type for that 3k screen option? Is it going to be an "IPS like" panel or a more traditional TN panel?

It should go just fine, just like any stock car you can always get more.hmscott likes this. -
And that's why I chose the P870DM3 with 1080 SLI. I know "out-of-box" it's going to run like a fiery, untuned GT500. However, with some tuning, you can have an elite monster that would rival or best some of the top DT configurations in a "on-the-go" package.
In your case, a tuned P870DM3 with a single 1080 will run circles around a tuned MSI GT73vr Pro.Last edited: Oct 12, 2016Donald@Paladin44, iunlock, Papusan and 3 others like this. -
Tweaking anything is never open and go. The custom BIOS , gets you way more value for money than any other stock package.
Stock works for most, but the custom is for people who want total control and wish to get the most out of their system. Obviously it's a bit of effort and understanding of how things work. -
But do you have to tweak it to be happy with it?

Not at all, my mods are not for average users they are for those who like the bleeding edge. Totally not needed when you have 2x 1080s in SLI.
-
The fans are unnecessarily loud with high pitch, and clevo auto fan control is broken for most users.
Its obviously deal breaker for the average user (62db is very high compared to others with the same sli 1080), hopefully software fix will provide better fan control without heavy impact on temps. -
You have to figure out certain things for fans to work, avoid cpu overclocking, and delid cpu if you care about its service life/performance (throttling). I highly suggest using hidrevo's delid + clu service.
This laptop defiantly does not work outside the box (yet), maybe for light work which makes it useless though.
Although this laptop has beasty cooling/overclocking potential when its modded, I don't get how people want to benchmark on the go yet.

It is a 120Hz - 5ms TN panel with much better color vibrancy and viewing angles than the older TN screens...far from 'traditional' TN panels.Papusan, AKHIL, SirSaltsAlot and 1 other person like this. -

Is 1440p going to be a nice fit for a single 1080 P870DM2? from my research seems like it should run just about everything in the 70-90 fps range, seems 120hz might be a bit over kill no? also how is text size is it totally microscopic or is it still similar to 1080p? I am jumping ships from P775DM3 order, also what is the consensus on heatsinks, should I upgrade to the DM3 grid vapor chamber heatsink? or is that what is pushing the CPU temps so high? or will I be just fine, hell maybe even better off with the T shaped heat sink?
Thanks guys
