You can always set them a bit lower if need be. I run 3000Mhz sticks and it can be picky about what slots I use.

Thanks a lot. According to crucial it should work fine, in case not I will do as you say.

Thanks a lot. Just received them. Atm I placed them in 1 and 2. 3200mhz at 1,35v. Took about 15 minutes and several reboots to land on desktop but it seems to work, finger crossed.
BUT one minor flaw is that while Crucial says they are 100% compatible they were not very clear about the fact that they work at 2666mhz stock and only if you can enable Xmp you can pull 3200. Not a problem for me but still with a locked Bios you might have to settle for a lower frequency than the one they claim.
BTW is there a way to check which are the best slots to use, or do I have just to wait for freezes, crashes and test different slots as they show up? -
Did you clear nvram by holding fn+d after installing the new kit? Sometimes old pre-populated settings can give an illusion of instability. As far as best slots, trace quality differs from machine to machine, but either using the master slots (3+4 under the bottom cover) or combo of 1+4 seems to work best.
-
Yes I did. Unfortunately the fn+d procedure doesn't work on my laptop. Tried 100 times but for some reason never get the blue reset message. Had to unplug the battery under the keyboard.
Thanks for the slots advice -

What reseller is the machine from?
-
I bought from NovaCustom in 2019. It wasn't a brand new laptop but a refurbished one. Had originally 2 GTX 1080 but suffered from overheating so they - according to what they told me - replaced CPU and GPU and resold with one GTX. Overall I am pretty satisfied

Some bios versions do have the fn + d disabled, it's a reseller option.

Yes, agreed. Only problem I had was when my GPU died a week after receiving the laptop. They sent a replacement one in no time.

Hello.
Do you know where i could buy a heatsink for 1070 vga2. I can find vga1 everywhere, but can't get my hands on vga2.
I'm looking for this one :
Thanks in advance. -

The other option is a vapor chamber if you can find it also.

Woke up today and CCC was gone from my system. Noticed it because my keyboard was lit up yellow. Previously, system was dead quiet.
So I re-installed the version (v90) that was previously installed. It performed a repair installation.
Now my fan(s) is running high even after setting options I had before in CCC.
Should I try a new version of CCC? Is there a trick to uninstall/reinstall? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Sounds like windows did something odd, might need a clean install.
-
Installed the latest CCC I could find, v5.0001.1.01. KB LED and fan control seem normal (set to Automatic). Maybe it's my imagination, but fan speeds seem the tiniest bit higher than when I was running the previous CCC v90 (was also set to Automatic).

Interesting issue, battery will only charge to 79%. Battery Saver is off.
Is there a BIOS (Prema) setting that limits battery charging?
I did power down, remove battery, hold power button for 30 seconds to completely discharge system. Replaced battery, booted back up. No change. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Does it just get it that and say not charging?
-
If I unplug AC power, it will charge 1% more then stop. Currently at 88%. So it's not being limited to 80%.
I do see "22 min to full charge", but it hasn't gone up a single percent in the last hour, so I know it's not charging. -

Can you please help me make a Gtx 1070 g sync Plug'n'Play in a Clevo P870DM-g (one with all hardware mod already done)? Pretty please?Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Hello! I hope some of you can help me on this issue.
I have a Clevo P870DM3-G (in fact, it's a resistance fury SRVF1080G17D), it had GTX1080, however, after a couple months, while gaming, my laptop turned off and when I turned it on again, there was no video signal and coolers rotated on full speed.
My GTX1080 died for no reason... Ok...
I decided to buy a Clevo RTX2070 for my laptop, for the price I could upgrade it and make it works even better than original... However, it required a vapor chamber mod (which was terryfing to do, but very much accomplished, as the GPU is not getting hot or anything).
The main issue here is, now my screen turns on, but I don't have a bios mod (files) or anything like this... And, I don't know if it's normal what happens, now it freezes on bios screen and nothing works (keyboard or anything), temperatures are okay, I dunno if it might require a bios mod or how to do it properly, as it freezes even before I can enter on bios.... (can't upload image here, But as it turns on, just freezes on "leader" screen and nothing works)
Thank you for all your help! -

As on the other thread you need a custom bios to run the card.
-
Currently running Win10, would rather not upgrade to Win11, but for work purposes (software testing on native OS and vm's), might need to.
Where to download the latest drivers for my P870DM3-G? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
From each vendor usually using the stock drivers as a base.

New battery working great.
Question on CPU upgrade: Can you drop in a i7-8700K (have a 6700K) without having to change anything (BIOS)?Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
You will need modded BIOS and pin mod the CPU for that.
-
Then I guess no Win 11 for this machine. Thx!
-
When don't you flash the modded BIOS and mod the cpu? All you have to do is use kapton tape in the pin and put it in the socket. I did the same to my P775DM3-G and came from a 6700k to a 8700k and all is working in my laptop. All ports. No issuesSpartan@HIDevolution, jc_denton and 4W4K3 like this.

You can easily install Win 11 the unofficial way. But why bother with this upgrade downgrade? Not much to gain.Last edited: Oct 26, 2021Spartan@HIDevolution, jc_denton and joluke like this.

No point worrying about it for now u less you need to for testing but as above you can put it on unofficially.

Indeed, where there is a will, there is a way.

Of course. I did read loads of tutorials and tests before buying my 8700k but everything is working and I can upgrade to a 9900k in the future and RTX too

Yeah, I'm a software tester so always need a native and virtualized OS. For now, I can limp along on a Win 11 virtual machine.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

Hello everyone. I would use some advice. I have few bucks piled up, so I am thinking about upgrading via Dsanke mod. Atm I am on a P870DM3-G with a 7700k. I would only change the CPU, but don't know which is my best choice. Read most of the 2 threads.
Many say that 9th gen CPU can cause overheating with old models' heatsinks, while some had decent results with 9900k.
Would you go for the 8th gen rather than 9th? Also: a 8700k would be a sensible jump up from my 7700k?Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

Depends what you intend to do really and how much heat you are prepared to handle. The special editions (8086k and 9900KS) are very nice for notebook overclockers due to how much less voltage they can run with and so produce less heat.
Spartan@HIDevolution, Gascio and joluke like this. -
I mostly do gaming and some programming, but 80% is gaming. The paradox is that I don't really even need to upgrade it atm. Can play Cod Modern Warfare with GPU temp at 65-70 degrees so it's really fine. But I noticed that 8th and 9th gen Intel are getting difficult to find new, plus in few years I would like to have a device plug and play ready to put a RTX in it (when prices hopefully will go down).
I was also interested in in this mod, to fit a TM CPU heatsink but still need to find someone who can chop my vc. In that case I would definitely go for a 9th gen.
BTW thanks for the advice. Already knew the 8086k, which was a nice option I forgot to mention. Didn't know the 9900ks but as far as I have so far seen it's difficult to find and not exactly cheap. Also: if you know any website where I can find a TM vc I would take a look. -
A decently binned 8700K is pretty much a 8086k in terms of silicon quality. They are still relatively easy to tame with stock cooling. But 9th gen is much harder to cool, not only because of two extra cores but the fact that the die is much thicker than previous gen, so delid is almost a must.

Ok, I move this post here as I think it's no longer related to the Dsanke mod I made to put a 9900k in my P870dm3. It had a 7700k before. I had Xmp profile enabled with 2x8gb crucial Ballistix 3200mhz. After the mod (so I currently have Dsanke bios and a 9900kf now) I tried to re-enable the Xmp profile. Those were my results so far.
I am facing weird behaviours from my P870dm3.
I know that in order to get dual channel you need to use adjacent slots (so either the 2 at the bottom or the 2 under the keyboard)
Here are my attempts.
1)kept 1&2 slots I used with no issues before the mod with the 7700k. Just enabled Xmp on Bios. No boot. Reset the Bios.
2)tried 3&4 under keyboard. Enabled again Xmp. No boot. Reset the bios.
3)decided to go with 1 slot of ram to enable Xmp and add the second later. Used slot no. 2. Not only I couldn't boot, I couldn't even enable xmp because I couldn't enter the bios. Just had a loop of switching on and off. Reset bios.
4)moved the single stick of ram to slot 1. Didn't enable Xmp. It did boot. Ofc I was at 2600mhz. Restarted, enabled Xmp, and it booted again at 3200mhz. First successful boot with Xmp enabled.
5) added second stick to slot 2. No boot. Did NOT reset, just removed the second stick, and it did boot again, still Xmp profile active. Still 3200mhz.
6)decided to use the other stick, still slot 1, so took out the stick I was using, took in the other one. It did boot again, and in spite of the fact that Xmp on bios was still active, on cpuz I had 2600mhz (don't know why)
7)restarted, entered the bios, reselected Xmp profile, (which was already selected, basically changed to default profile and then changed again to Xmp, saved and exited bios). It did boot again, and this time 3200mhz also with this second stick.
8)added the other stick again on slot 2. No boot.
I don't know if this is normal. Basically I can run each stick singularly at 3200 but cannot pair them together
Any help on what I might try to make it work would be very appreciated. -

My 8700k would only do 4.7 and maybe 4.8 at a push. My 8086k went up to 5.25 GHz at similar settings. The bin is just guaranteed to be good.joluke likes this. -

Interestingly enough, Windows Update updated my Win 10 to Win 11, even though the PC Health Check app said my system did not meet the minimum system requirements (due to 6700k CPU).
