You show the values then hit apply.

I know, I always get an error saying the profile has an error and can't be proposed. I started a thread about it in the software section. I'm just curious if other units are experiencing the same thing or if it's an OS/driver issue or something.

Have you tried editing just a single value and trying? -
I can edit and apply values just fine. It's just loading a saved profile, for some reason isn't working regardless of the settings applied (even with no settings changed). It's done it on 2 different Windows installs so it's not a corrupt XTU install or anything, and I can load XTU's "Default" profile fine so it isn't a problem with the loading functionality itself.

Storing values in the software is going to be nothing to do with the firmware or system. That's a software bug. Have you tried a different version?
-
Nope, just the latest version from the website everytime, that I've used on other laptops. Think I'm just going to switch to Throttlestop and HWInfo and not worry about it.
-
Sry for now I only have Forza Horizon 4 installed. Should have more time to play other games this weekends
I have the same issue as you. Now switch to Throttlestop. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Try a slightly older version then. -
Where do you put the toothpick to lit the keyboard? Almost wrecked mine not knowing there are still 2 screws above to take out
-
You put it through the hole for the screw in the mesh ventilation part. Push it up just enough to pop it up, then you can pry the rest of the keyboard up. It's fairly flexible so don't worry too much about cracking it.
EDIT: Also, @Meaker@Sager, Do you know what thickness thermal pads are used on the vram in these? And any recommendations?Last edited: Apr 4, 2019 -
please anyone with a 2070 max p use gpu z and then hit the arrow after bios version to upload it to techpowerup, or attach it to a post here ideally both
thank you so much -

Those with a per key RGB keyboard, mind screenshotting the customisation options and effects? Mainly looking for the equalizer option.
-
Thank you so much for sharing that’s good to know. So far my top picks in price order: are PB51EF-G, P960EN, GE75 (2080 larger batt). In the various ranges: $1800, $2100, $2400.
-
I would avoid GE75. I bought GE63 last year, was worst purchasing decision - the plastic sockets for holding the display hinge screws cracked in less than a year, the touchpad button also broke (weak plastic clips) and the back cover had very annoying and fragile plastic clips. This is a different model but reading various MSI forums and posts on Reddit it looks like MSI is using cheap fragile plastic on many models, not only the one I bought.
If you don't like Clevo chassis - I'd suggest looking at models from other manufacturers, like Gigabyte, Lenovo or even Razer. Anything but MSI. -
My wife has a GE60 and the exact same thing happened.AlexusR likes this.

My unit has weird GPU thermal limitation at 83c. GPU-Z however indicates thermal limit at 87c
Does anyone test how fast the fan can spin? Mine max at around 4300rpm. I recall from somewhere that it could go up to 5000+
-
Mine seems to max out around 4500 rpm as well.
-
Does your GPU temp go above 83C?
-
In Firestrike and most benchmarks / stress tests, it only gets up to the low 80s. A few games are getting it up to the 90s though, namely 7d2d, Forza Horizon 4, and Anthem.Nintendo Power likes this.

Stress tests are usually pretty short.
-
@Meaker@Sager Do you have any idea what the little blue pad that comes in the box is? It occurred to me last night that it could be a piece of thermal pad to either put over some component added later, or to show the needed thickness, but I've never heard of something like that coming with a laptop. It appears to be about .5mm thicker than a piece of overhanging thermal pad I was able to remove from under the heatsink, so not sure if that's even it.
-

Thermal pad for an m.2 if you want to fit one yourself.
-
Ah that makes sense. I thought it'd be something like that.

Just remember it goes on the controller and not the nand

Isn’t it too early for the new CPUs? We don’t know much about their cooling requirements yet. I’m not super familiar with the laptop market though so this might be par for the course.
I’m looking into the PB51EF-G and PB71EF-G now and I don’t know what to think of Clevo pulling those machines’ pages from their website.
The device failure mentioned here also doesn’t fill me with confidence, I can’t RMA from my location most of the time. I know that some resellers stress test their machines before they ship them out so that might lower my chances of having to send my machine back.
That said I like this the most out of all the laptops available right now, and I’m trying to follow as closely as I can that way I know what I’m getting into when I take the plunge later. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Any machine can have issues not being able to RMA would catch you out eventually with anyone.
-
I’m surprised the unit I have does not have thunderbolt three. It does have two USB type C connectors and looks like the thunderbolt port is a type two. Can anyone else confirm on their end? My review unit came from HID
-
I can check when I get home. How do I tell which one it is, would it say in Device Manager? I never use the thunderbolt, don't even bother installing the driver most of the time.
It looks like they just replaced them with the newer 9th Gen models (PB51RC-G, etc) so I wouldn't worry about that. Where are you that you can't RMA? You'll be running that risk whether you get a Clevo or an ASUS or any other machine, as every model will have duds. As the one who had the RMA mentioned earlier, one failed unit is hardly a pattern or cause for concern. I haven't seen any other reports of failure in either the PB51 or PB71, so as of now, I see no reason to believe there's an inherent design flaw in this particular model that makes it more susceptible to failure. -
The failures can happen with every model and brand... That said you can order from places which can do testing before sending it out, like HIDevolution. I believe they also have international warranty.
-
So the replacement for the PB51/PB71 will have a 4k screen? Interesting. Will probably wind up being more expensive.
-
The current PB51/71 were listed with both options on the Clevo site as well, so I wouldn't expect anything new in that regard.
-
My unit comes with a Thunderbolt sticker but I have not really checked that it is Thunderbolt port
Mine max out <4200rpm with Clevo CC installed. Do you have Clevo fan control installed?Last edited: Apr 11, 2019 -
Not at the moment, but I did. I don't use any of the Clevo software except the hot-key and LED apps.
-
Mine says it's TB3.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes it should be TB3.
-
Do your models show a physical thunderbolt near the actual port?
-
I just saw that Microcenter has the PB50RC1-G on sale for $1500 (it's listed as "PowerSpec 1520").
Looks like it comes with a 500GB SSD and Win10 Pro, but it lacks both the fingerprint sensor and TB3.
I suppose I can do without the fingerprint sensor, but I'm not about TB3. -
Unless you’ve seen it in person, don’t be sure it’s lacking Windows Hello and TB3.
Microcenters website is notorious for lacking information. -
Going to check the Microcenter version out tomorrow
-
I just purchased the 1520 powerspec and can vouch that it only has USB C and not thunderbolt 3. It also lacks the option to use windows hello and there is no fingerprint scanner in the touchpad. Also, it comes stock with 1x 16GB Goldkey RAM module.
I installed an additional 16Gb RAM module, undervolted 125mV in throttlestop, set a 120mhz GPU overclock with their control center software. Getting scores of 7587 in Timespy and 16706-17150 in Fire strike.
Temps are in the 70 to 80 range for the CPU during 3D mark but I've noticed when running Witcher 3 on maxed settings that the CPU will reach temps of 90-95 and hover around there. GPU stays in the high 70s. -
Mine does not have the lightning bolt symbol the either USB-C port, but it does show up as TB3.
-
Thanks for saving me a trip. What is the build quality like? Plastic or is any of it metal?
-
Its built pretty well. The entire body is plastic but doesn't flex. The lid feels like aluminum while the bezel and hinge appear to be plastic. You can remove the battery pack without opening up the laptop (62Wh). The hinge is very sturdy and the screen stays in place while typing. Screen does not flex and its balanced well to open with one finger. The only tiny thing I notice is when squeezing the laptop in the bottom right corner that it creeks a little as the bottom panel and top panel are not in perfect contact in that area of the chassis (not noticeable in standard usage though. Very easy to get inside and take it apart.
-
Same here
-
I’ll cover this in the review, but prop it up and you’ll get better thermals and acoustics.
Slight design flaw on these that’s easy enough to fix. -
Looking forward to your review!

That's true of any notebook, people would complain if it had 1.5 inch high rubber on the back
-
Well, I wouldn't mind if they include someting like a keyboard to put it up a bit (lets say 1-1,5cm) for better cooling when playing. I always have put a laptopstand or a book under my laptops for better airflow.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Something like a keyboard to prop it up? How would that look? Any notebook stand without fans will work well.
