You have the Prema BIOS, so that is what you should use.

Haha I know, I should and I am using the BIOS to tweak the CPU. I just wanted to share that I have the same thing happening that is all.

No worries, and thanks for helping with your post.

However is would be the same answer for both you and @zacwhite15 ... contact your vendor's tech support for this kind of issue.

so i can't get my laptop to go over 5.2Ghz stable, this is due to the inability to control voltages in the bios. @Meaker@Sager what are the chances of sager putting those options in the next bios update?

im guessing 5.6 ghz validation is probably the best one can hope for in a laptop though...

i use intel burn test and cinebench along with games like GTA V, ROTR and The Division. ambient temps are right around 75 in the room, vcore is set to stock, not delidded, using Arctic Silver 5 and no cooling pad.

    also running stock bios.

not delidded! that is quite impressive, especially with that crappy tim ure using... u could shave off quite the temps and wattages and reach higher clocks with some gallinstan under the hood and some kryonaut on top of it ;)

looks like uve won the SL my friend :D

ya i got lucky with this proc, though i can't push it much higher since i can't change the voltage. i tried in XTU and it just didn't take i think its the stock bios that is preventing it.

Hey was about to purchase a p750 and was wondering, is the killer1535 wifi card not recommended? I read about people having problems with it but my budget is tight so would prefer to not have to upgrade it unless it is strongly recommended. Thanks

that actually is 5.2 ghz, the missing mhz are just cuz of the sub 100 mhz baseclock, which keeps fluctuating :)

@charting what kind of wifi options are you being offered?

It can depend on your router, some prefer the intel and some the Killer. We use both in our house with our Asus Router and they seem to get on ok.

So the cable that connects the power brick to the wall... it's not so important, right?

If my old one is lost etc. I can just use a generic cable?

Ok, I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Doing anything with encoding or heavy CPU usage throws temps through the roof. Seeing other peoples temps 20-30c lower than mine is making me curious. So, on the 751TM-G, delid, conductonaut, copper IHS, and using these throttlestop settings. Any ideas? Stock bios, XTU doesn't work (settings dont stick). Touching anything in the bios seems to make the laptop boot loop. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

So @ThePerfectStorm I did these mods and thought you might be interested in the results (these were all done with max fan speed).

My reseller had actually already delidded with liquid metal, which surprised me, so the combination of delidding again using Conductonaut, copper IHS, repasting with Prolimatech PK-3 (original paste was Kryonaut), and toothpick mod netted me about 5-7C under prolonged load:

    Before
    [IMG]

    After

On the GPU, changing from Kryonaut to PK-3 and doing the paperclip mod effectively made no difference. It heated up just a tad bit slower but still power throttled and still reached thermal throttling temps after just one loop of Heaven and started dropping to low 1700s and 1600s:

What did make a big difference was undervolting the GPU. Going from this stock curve to this optimized curve lowered temps lowered my max power to 170W so power throttling was eliminated. It also allowed me to run much higher clocks at much lower temps than before, so thermal throttling was also eliminated, and performance as well as smoothness improved due to the locked higher clock speed instead of bouncing around lower clock speed.

This was after many hours of Heaven starting at a spot with 100% GPU load:

Pretty sure you're power throttling. I am having the same issue. I got a bit higher though, but in throttlestop, under 'Limit Reasons' open that up and see what comes on while you are running CB.

undervolting as much as possible can counteract the power throttling.

Thanks for the info! Great to hear you've been able to drop temperatures for both your CPU and GPU. Interesting that undervolting the GPU gives such good results.

Oops, I just realized I posted the exact same picture for "before" and "after" on the CPU. I'll leave Prime95 running for a few hours and update the "after" for the CPU. Like I said, doing all that really didn't help the temps much at all, just 1-2C drop on the CPU and the GPU took a little longer to reach thermal throttle. It was only undervolting the GPU that made a big difference and eliminated thermal throttle, power throttle, and microstutter.

I asked it, I'll ask again, what's the safe temps for the GPU?

I'm able to undervolt up to 0.875mv but the card still reach 80, just slower.
