Then you go down the rabbit hole of ram tweaking :D

Most platforms working in small steps you will get to know the platform and figure it out.

I'm mostly waiting on some new hardware now to have fun with :) Got to move first and get settled in but something fresh would be good.

Ok... I've spent some time reading this thread from beginning.
And i still don't understand is EUROCOM SKY x4c laptop with i7-8700k and gtx1080 worth buying?

And what really makes my brain explode is the fact that most members here are buying a sport car and trying to make it fly wondering why it doesn't.
Sometime ago i just wanted to buy powerful and "modern" laptop for some 3D content creation. After spending a lot of time on this forum i started to feel myself Gollum from the Lord of the rings whispering "i need more gigahertz"
The funniest is i didn't even know what the overclocking is about month ago.

You can turn the NDU back on, if you want.

In an elevated command prompt, after the Killer Control Center is installed, type:
    sc config ndu start=auto

    Then restart your computer.

It used to mess with the Killer Control Center, but that part of the Killer Control Center works differently, so you should be able to use both now. If you do so and have any ill effects, please shoot me an email and let me know.

Is it normal for CPU to disable Turbo Boost and drop to base clock under GPU load?
    How to fix?

I am really planning to buy x4c laptop but what is interesting to me is there any way to increase battery life for non-gaming use. For example with power bank suitable for laptops.

These are not really the beasts for that but you can undervolt the CPU, keep screen brightness low and force lower power states on the GPU with Nvidia inspector.

Battery banks are perhaps dangerous due to the high loads these can draw under load.

Hello guys, I recently ordered a SKY X4C from Eurocom and I'm having problems running my memory at the rated 3000hz and for some reasons, I can't undervolt/overclock without having the laptop going into an infinite booting loop.

The cpu is a 8700k and it's delided and came with the unlocked bios Eurocom use, which is a bios from america megatrend, it's the 5.12 version I believe.

Laptop is running flawless with low temps, but those 2 problems are still giving me some headache.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask for some help, but since it's the "official club" for the p751tm-g, I thought I might ask here.

    Thanks!

Eurocom told me to send it back to them, however, paying 50$ for shipping (even if I'm still in my first year and in my 30 days since purchase) for a problem that I could fix myself...

we will need much more info before we can help you there.

what kind of overclocking settings did u use? getting a bootloop points towards unstable overclock/undervolt settings. try and go step by step, little by little to avoid instabilities.

also, what tool did u use to apply the settings? directly through bios or something else like throttlestop, intel xtu, etc.?

Everything is stock; I tried to undervolt, in the bios, as low as -10mv and it goes into a bootloop.

I tried with XTU, but as soon as I press apply, it reset itself, no questions asked.

For the ram, I used (or tried to) use the XMP profile that the bios gave me and again; no luck, bootloop.

Also tried the XMP profile (which is the same as the one in the bios) that Eurocom give in their command center and bootloop again.

The computer is super stable, passed memtest with ram @2667 (default speed) temps Under a 2 hours BF1 MP session are in the low 70s with highest peak at 80-81s, the GPU also stay in the 69-70 range because I locked the temps with Asus tweak.

If you need more info, feel free to ask because at this point, I'm out of idea.

hm ok this is indeed weird. have u tried throttlestop yet? and by eurocom command center im assuming ure referring to the clevo control center?

as for the ram, what brand are your sticks? if their corsair, dont bother with the xmp profile, its flawed. try and loosen one timing, say CAS, by one up, see if that sticks. this is just to see if youre able to manipulate ram settings at all.

has eurocom given you and info on what might be wrong here? they must at least suspect something if they want you to send in the machine...

Yes, it's corsair, a single 16gb vengeance stick. According to Corsair, the timing should be 16-18-18-39 @1.2v

Yeah, I can create custom profile, but I've usually only used the default XMP profile when overclocking memory since my knowledge of ram is limited.

I don't know what is the clevo command center to be honest, it's the app that came on the usb stick with the drivers Eurocom gave me, so I assumed it was from them, but it's a simple center where I can select what mode I want the laptop, play with the fan and I also have some OC options who don't work, but it's there.

The tech at eurocom only said to send back the machine, mostly because the white connector of the cmos battery is broken, but it doesn't affect the laptop at all.

If I need to reset the cmos I simply pull the wire and put them back in. 20180329_183701.jpg

    Like that.

Corsair RAM is garbage though, it's rebranded lower quality stock from very large bins purchased from Samsung or Hynix I forget which.

It's good to know, figuring I paid extra to have 2x8gb of 3000hz corsair, they replaced it with a single 16gb stick, losing dual channel and now you tell me it's garbage.

So, should I return the laptop in hope that they get memory that actually work at the rated speed or?

lol i wouldnt say its "garbage", the sticks are actually based on samsung B-Die chips ;)

however, its a general rule of thumb that its hard to impossible to reach the advertized xmp speeds with laptop ram IN laptops. if you try the same ram on supported desktop motherboards though, its not a problem. so im guessing it has more to do with the laptop mobos and their traces rather than the so-dimms themselves. in any case, ram OC is VERY finicky outside of one click xmp. i have the same corsair 3000 sticks in 2x16gb config and ive only managed to get them to 2933 on my machine. took me forever to get there :D

where are you located btw? i dont get why eurocom is charging you for shipping this soon after purchasing. if they insist on this id just give the machine back and purchase from a different vendor instead...

I'm starting to consider it.. however there's not any other vendor of custom laptop.

I am in Quebec, Canada and Eurocom is based in Ottawa, which is close.

Since our dollar is worth ****, I can't really order anywhere else without also having to pay a hefty amount of shipping.

I know it's a weird way to deal, never seen a vendor that have us pay for shipping and since it's a 14lbs package it bring the cost of shipping up.

I'll try to get in touch with them tomorrow and see if they can do something about it if you say that you think the memory will simply not be able to run at the advertised speed.

But let's not talk about the CPU at 5.0ghz, it kind of scare me.

Well I mean, if his cpu is delidded I wouldn't be surprise if the temps were good.

My 8700k delidded with conductonaut and CLU on top barely break the high 70s during long gaming session like BF1 so I imagine he probably tweaked his even more.

aaah ok, gotcha! the LTE socket is a factory option so best to check with the respective vendor first before going ahead with the purchase. it depends on whether or not the vendor has the LTE version of this model in stock or not.

You have to contact your vendor for that, not Prema. If you didn't buy it from a Prema Partner, you may well not be able to get it.
