I just got mine. The lightbleed on the screen is horrible. This is hardly considered acceptable, right? It looks even worse in person. Camera doesn't do it justice. It's everywhere on the screen.

Pretty sad. Maybe there's some way I can fix it. I'll be interested to see what yours looks when you get it. I'm really hoping I don't have to send it back.

Hello all...long-time NBRF lurker finally joining in the posting. I am considering getting this model with a 1080 now that Eurocom is offering that, but I recall Donald of HIDevo mentioning that this model does not support the 1080....does that mean Eurocom made custom thermal modifications to accommodate the 1080 or are they just dropping in a 1080 and hoping for the best? I would love a 15" with a 6 core and a 1080 because I travel a lot, but not if it is going to cook itself to death rather quickly.

    Two questions:

    1) Any backlight bleed?
    2) Did your unit come with preinstalled software or do you have to download it yourself? I had to format my hard drive to be able to install windows on my SSD so there was nothing on mine.

    1. I paid for the backlight bleed check. I didn't check properly, but if there is, it's definitely not as bad as yours.
    2. There were some preinstalled software:
      • Connection Service version 1.1.6.1
      • Control Center 5.0001.1.62
      • Creative ALchemy
      • Host OpenAL
      • Flexikey
      • GPU driver
      • GPU OC program
      • Insyde Airplane Mode HID Mini-Driver
      • Intel Management Engine Components
      • Intel Wireless Bluetooth
      • Microsoft Visual C++ (2012, 2013, 2013, 2015)
      • Realtek Card Reader
      • Realtek HD Audio Driver
      • Sound Blaster Connect 2 version 2.1.5.0
      • Spyder4Elite / SpyderUtility
      • Synaptics Pointing Device Driver
      • Synaptics WBF FP Reader
      • Thunderbolt Software
      • Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands
You get several bloatware after starting your laptop for the first time later.

Thanks, appreciate it. Please check when you get the chance at 100% brightness.

Also, will you be downloading anything from the official driver list? Not sure whether I should download everything or not since I had nothing preinstalled. I have basics installed, like touchpad and GPU driver. But that's it.

I updated the full list of pre-installed software that I got. I haven't updated any of the drivers yet save for one, the GPU.

I used DDU to uninstall the old GPU driver and then I updated it with the newer.

Get them all downloaded just to make sure you have a decent set but get the video drivers from Nvidia directly.

In dire need of attention. Like an angry volcano. CPU must be delidded. It has not been, and that story never has a happy ending for any laptop computer with 4790K, 6700K, 7700K or 8700K. Delid is mandatory for good temps with these CPUs.

Yes. All "K" series CPUs should be delidded. We do this standard as part of our production process.

I delidded it a couple of hours ago. Saw a 5-10°C drop in idle temps, about 20°C drop in load temps after delid. Reaches 80-81°C at 5.0GHz versus 100°C at 5.0GHz.

I corrected my statement in the previous post. Temps on desktops suck without a delid as well. My desktop 8700K ran way too hot even with water cooling until I delidded the CPU.

Yes, I did get that package. It's ready to go when your desktop gets here. Also have the HEDT delid tool and the two 1080 Ti liquid coolers. All we need is the leviathan to arrive.

Those benchmarks are not with Machete.

Woww nice man! Glad to hear you got her under control. Are those temps with undervolt as well? If yes How much mv?

Also what kind of tim and method you recommend for between ihs and heatsink?

Technically, yes on the undervolt. I use static (override) voltage rather than adaptive with an offset. I have 1235 (1.235V) set for 50x6. It still gets warmer than ideal, but much better than original. It has Conductonaut on the die and Kryonaut on the top of the IHS. Ideally, would use Conductonaut exclusively with foam dams to contain it. I haven't done that at this point because I don't own this machine and it has to be shipped. I will not ship laptops with liquid metal anywhere except under the IHS.

Interesting, the newer Clevo 1080s got a core speed bump from 1582 to 1657.

But, it is only a fake-us-out speed bump. The Green Goblin is messing with us with more of their foolish shenanigans. (I know, my surprised look is not on my face... dishonest bastards.)

The actual boost clocks are lower with newer vBIOS. I flashed an old GTX 1080 vBIOS (stock) from the DM3 and *ALL* of my benchmarks scores jumped by a fair margin using the same core and memory offsets because the boost is notably higher.

I will post some new benchmarks here in a bit. Set several new #1 scores for single 1080 Notebook.

Removing the bottom cover helps the P7 a TON. It's getting suffocated with the tiny little slits to breathe through just like the Tornado F5/EVOC 16L-G-1080 was. Definitely needs a bottom cover mod so it can stop cooking itself. CPU and GPU temps, and PCH temps all dropped ~10-15°C by removing it.

With the older vBIOS from the DM3...

Interesting. Most people say undervolt with adaptive. Why use static?

    ...
Most people are not particularly well versed in performance tuning, so that comes as no real surprise. Undervolting with adaptive is better than leaving it with default values so their recommendations are understandable when taken in context. But, it's more accurate and stable to find the right voltage and set it static. There is less vdroop, too. Adaptive behavior (as the name implies) tends to be more spastic. Finding the ideal voltage to set as a static value takes more time and effort, but it's worth it.

Does anyone know of or can make a guide how to get the best performance out of the Sager 9155? Overclocking, undervolting, delidding, the whole shebang.

Anyone willing to provide me with some assistance on overclocking my 9155? I'm not really finding any instructions on how to do this. I haven't delidded yet, but I intend to do so eventually. But I'd like to undervolt and overclock as high as I can with just a icy diamond thermal paste application.

As per your other thread which you already had pointed out to you, step by step on the voltage and frequency. Overclocking is a general field for the most part.

Gotcha thanks. I've overclocked before just by doing step by step instructions. But it was an old computer and I didn't really mind if I messed it up. I'd like to do this carefully!

Running into problems OCing mine :(
Seems to be a bios issue. Cant get locked clocks, cant get fixed voltage. Just finished my delid and while my temps are better, I cant push this thing beyond 4.6. It simply just sticks or throttles back. Whats everyone using to OC theirs? I heard XTU was a bust, and the actual bios changes dont stick.
