Hey I was wondering if anyone thinks that the PERFECTRON 1660S could fit in the p751tm and have good heat sink coverage? Photo for reference Screenshot_20210125-150044.jpg

Heatsink will not fit, GPU die is placed differently.

Die mounting holes are the big thing, no match means you can't use the original heatsink.

Indeed, still going strong with latest 9th gen, is going to rock when/if we can upgrade to RTX30xx

2080 is nice but still expansive. Raytraycing and DSLL are great on it and there will be more and more games that will use it. Im going to upgrade to 2080 if we dont get acces to 30xx

The 2080 Super is 200w but they are really so hard to get, almost impossible, but when the 3xx are coming a lot of people with the Clevo x170sm-g will upgrade to that and then maybe will get some 2080 Supers on the market

I recently received a 2nd external monitor recently as a gift as well as a converter cable (hdmi to display port). When I tested it out, it worked well but I was unable to add it to my setup because I did not have enough desk space (my other external monitor is a big tv). Last week I got a side table for the new monitor and upon setting everything up, the laptop failed to detect the monitor. I tried all sorts of troubleshooting and I cannot get the pc to detect any monitor through either displayport. I thought it might be the cable and bought a different one which also did not work. I checked for driver updates, went through the NVDA control panel monitor detection process and nothing. Does anyone have any advice for me? Thank you in advance.

Is there a known good device you could borrow to make sure they are working (display and cable?)

Yes, the most recent cable purchased was tested on different monitor and pc (at the shop). Both my external monitors work fine with HDMI.

Check your displayport settings in the BIOS and make sure they are not routed to the thunderbolt port instead.

Advanced -> DDI controls (make sure it's DDI to DP).

Not a great sign that both are not working... Have you tried a driver clean on the drivers?

Hey lads, anyone know where the PCH is located on our motherboard? What is the normal temperature you all see it at? Mine runs quite warm I feel - 70-75 degrees on average.

Thanks. So the only way to really access it is to pop the kb out. Correct? I was thinking of adding a small thermal pad and heatsink on it for the sake of peace of mind.

Actually it’s a lot more involved than that. You have to remove the whole top case. You can see the PCH (under a foil heat spreader) above the CMOS battery at 3:38 in this video:

See above wheere the PCH chips sit. But 70-75C is good enough. Many of the thin Junk have PCH temps near or around 90C :D

Definitely no physical damage, the weird thing was that it did work fine on that first test and has never worked again since. I don't want to do clean reinstall of windows but is there a chance that would work?

If you do open it up, switch the stock 4mm thermalpad out with a higher performing one. Its a shame that it doesn't have a heatsink like the P870.

I have just found out about thunderbolt to hdmi converters, would that enable me to connect to an additional external display if that port is still working?

So long as the DP signal is set to route through the thunderbolt port in the BIOS then it should.

Just wanted to ask a question, I have a P751TM, with an GTX 1060 and an i7 8700k and I want to upgrade it to an rtx 2060, ive found the replacement card but i know i need a heat sink as well, and im having trouble finding which exact heatsink i need as ive read not all heatsinks of the P75XTM/DM Series dont all work together i was wondering if anyone could let me know which one i need to get.

    Cheers!
