i created the usb stick with rufus ( freedos ).
i managed to get to 1.07.16 through windows in the meantime. but id like to have to most recent bios ofcourse. what is it that i can do wrong ? i truly dont understand it

Hey I was wondering if anyone thinks that the PERFECTRON 1660S could fit in the p751tm and have good heat sink coverage? Photo for reference

Heatsink will not fit, GPU die is placed differently.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Die mounting holes are the big thing, no match means you can't use the original heatsink.
-
yeah that card wont works im afraid.
anyway i fixed the bios flash
run meset in windows ( pc reboots itself ) than run flashmex64 in windows and shut down pc. tada updated
-
I am glad, so you are on the latest 1.07.29? Strange that it didnt work in DOS
-
yeah the latest 10729
very pleased now! the fan controls seems much much better. indeed weird it didnt work in dos!
also got32gb 3000mhz cl15 hyperx in it and 2 x 1tb evo plus samsungs. its a beast now! gonne get 32 gig more in near future -
Indeed, still going strong with latest 9th gen, is going to rock when/if we can upgrade to RTX30xx

lets wait and see! ive got the 1070 in it now, i wanted to go for 2080 but the performance isnt much better
-
2080 is nice but still expansive. Raytraycing and DSLL are great on it and there will be more and more games that will use it. Im going to upgrade to 2080 if we dont get acces to 30xx
-
awsome il remember that ! hope we get the 3080 tho! tdp on 20** is 150 right? wud be nice if 200..
-
The 2080 Super is 200w but they are really so hard to get, almost impossible, but when the 3xx are coming a lot of people with the Clevo x170sm-g will upgrade to that and then maybe will get some 2080 Supers on the market

We will just have to see what power numbers look like when they arrive.

I recently received a 2nd external monitor recently as a gift as well as a converter cable (hdmi to display port). When I tested it out, it worked well but I was unable to add it to my setup because I did not have enough desk space (my other external monitor is a big tv). Last week I got a side table for the new monitor and upon setting everything up, the laptop failed to detect the monitor. I tried all sorts of troubleshooting and I cannot get the pc to detect any monitor through either displayport. I thought it might be the cable and bought a different one which also did not work. I checked for driver updates, went through the NVDA control panel monitor detection process and nothing. Does anyone have any advice for me? Thank you in advance.

Is there a known good device you could borrow to make sure they are working (display and cable?)
-
Yes, the most recent cable purchased was tested on different monitor and pc (at the shop). Both my external monitors work fine with HDMI.

Check your displayport settings in the BIOS and make sure they are not routed to the thunderbolt port instead.
Advanced -> DDI controls (make sure it's DDI to DP). -
Yes, it says DDI to mDP
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Not a great sign that both are not working... Have you tried a driver clean on the drivers?
-
I will try that now, just to be clear do you think I should reinstall just the GPU drivers, or others as well?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
They are the main ones, you could try a bios update from your reseller?
-
Thank you for all your help, I have been trying to get through to support for help with the bios update, couldn't figure out how to do it on my own.
-

They should provide the right file and instructions.

Hey lads, anyone know where the PCH is located on our motherboard? What is the normal temperature you all see it at? Mine runs quite warm I feel - 70-75 degrees on average.
-
yrekabakery Notebook Virtuoso
It’s located underneath the keyboard. -
Notebookbackbreaker Notebook Consultant
Thanks. So the only way to really access it is to pop the kb out. Correct? I was thinking of adding a small thermal pad and heatsink on it for the sake of peace of mind. -
yrekabakery Notebook Virtuoso
Actually it’s a lot more involved than that. You have to remove the whole top case. You can see the PCH (under a foil heat spreader) above the CMOS battery at 3:38 in this video:
-
See above wheere the PCH chips sit. But 70-75C is good enough. Many of the thin Junk have PCH temps near or around 90C

Under the keyboard is does get airflow.
-
They did the bios update for me and still nothing! When do I give up?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It does sound like something may have happened to the ports?
-
Definitely no physical damage, the weird thing was that it did work fine on that first test and has never worked again since. I don't want to do clean reinstall of windows but is there a chance that would work?
-
If you do open it up, switch the stock 4mm thermalpad out with a higher performing one. Its a shame that it doesn't have a heatsink like the P870.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Maybe some sort of electrical damage to them. -
What is you laptop, what bios, vbios?
-
HIDevolution P750TM1-G prema custom bios , NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
not sure if that answers the question, I listed the full specification choices in this post http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-p750-on-budget.815952/page-2 -
I suspect vbios, have you ever changed vbios?
-
Never, unless that is something that could have happened in a driver update?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
No it would have to be done deliberately. -
I have just found out about thunderbolt to hdmi converters, would that enable me to connect to an additional external display if that port is still working?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
So long as the DP signal is set to route through the thunderbolt port in the BIOS then it should.

This is for P775, it looks the same, but the P751 a bit different.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The 77x is larger for the heatsinks as well as display.

This is the RTX version for the P75x. Choose the left (picture) option. -
Alright and do I have to do anything to my bios or just plug and play and DDU before install?
-
It depends which bios you have. For me it was plug and play, but I have not the latest one (1.07.27).
