Anyone know if the B156HAN04.2 120Hz FHD IPS screen will fit in the P751TM-G?
real annoyed to find that the only configs I can find are 60hz IPS or 120hz TN, FHD.
Really want 120hz IPS.

there u can compare with your current screen and filter potentially compatible screens.

Desktop 4k 120hz panels are not really out there and they don't need to worry overly about power consumption.
-
I think it's the only flaw this laptop has... -
https://www.techinferno.com/index.p...1-g-g-sync-lost-after-screen-repair-resolved/
This guy only sent his laptop in for repair and Manf changed out screen to a different model and OP lost G-Sync, so I assume if you plan to replace the LCD, dont waste money on G-Sync ?
can anyone that HAS changed screens confirm this?
My assumption was that G-Sync was the Module, not the Panel; so any panel could be used, just needed to tweak refresh rate with CRU or something. (I've only ever used FreeSync) -
I've ordered the 120hz ips display (currently have the 120hz TN display) and when it arrives I'll update folks. -

The screen has to be one validated with g-sync on that model.

Hello guys, do you know, someone has possibility to check Is Plextor M8Pe(G), version with heat sink compatible with Clevo P751TM?
-
I am planning to buy a Clevo P751TM-G laptop, currently i am working on a 7 year old Acer laptop with an AMD APU... Luckily it does have an unlocked multiplier but that doesn't fix it's age.
And of course it will be overclocked, just like the Clevo i had before. Maybe you remember me from the AMD 8970M unlocked vBIOS thingy on TechInferno where you fixed the problem that the card freezed when the memory clock was increased, still many thanks for that.
Unfortunately there aren't any Prema Partners around here in the Netherlands or even anywhere close. The closest ones are in Spain and in Poland but that is a tad too far away from me. I do have a local Clevo dealer but he isn't a Prema Partner. Could you maybe supply me a Prema bios then? It's one very critical demand because i don't like to be limited in overclocking with powerlimit ********. I'm in an OC team where i do hardmodding, phasechange cooling, designing new hardmods and more of that stuff. The EEPROM programmer is daily used around here... If you want i can do a donation for your excellent work.

I am currently not doing any personal mods. That may or may not change in future...
Just to be aware that if I don't PM you directly here on this Forum, it is NOT me and you will leave empty handed:

Support could be an issue though.

Well, it's going to be a difficult decision. €100 and pain-in-the-arse shipping for a Prema bios, that's a pretty high cost. And i'm just that crazy that i think it will be worth the extra money and possibly some extra inconvenience. -

In my situation, HIDevolution is the only Prema Partner shop in NA that offers the P750TM1 with a GTX 1080, but the difference is $1300 compared to an otherwise similar config with faster RAM from Eurocom, due to HID's $200+ higher base price, 10% sales tax, and lack of trade-in discount. Even if I were to drop the GPU down to a GTX 1060 at HID, it would still be $600 more than the Eurocom config with GTX 1080, and thus out of my budget. -

So I've had this machine now less than a month; when I first got it I noticed the fan was *silent* when the machine wasn't being pushed (normal web-browsing).
I've been pretty crazy about keeping my rooms / laptop area dust-free; not perfect, but I dust pretty obsessively (and put the machine away while dusting / vacuuming to protect it).
ATM, I'm noticing that the fan can sometimes turn on, not very very loud, but moreso than before, even when CPU is around 2%.
I did fly with the machine (in a laptop case, with me on the plane), so it's possible that's had some kind of effect?
I'm really nervous to take this apart, and mess up something (being a delidded CPU with cool thermal paste etc. I know HIDEvolution has done an amazing job, so I don't want to alter anything.) -

Maybe. I'm in a new apartment, and the apartment is I think warmer than where I used to live...
So it's just me over-worrying. In a cooler apartment, the machine was *silent* until I pushed it... so nice.
Oh well! -
I've also noticed the temps in the Mighty Mini are up a few degrees too. -

I can't wait to be out of this too cold (winter) or too hot (summer) flat. Moving out next month. My temperatures have been really cold because I have been too.

Does anyone have any good custom fan profiles or software they'd recommend? I feel the control center profile was pretty limited in how I could customize it. When I turn a game on, the fan (1080) is so dang loud!
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's your only option, you could try underclocking the 1080 to help reduce its power consumption.
-
Alright no worries, thank you for the help!
I have Prema installed on this laptop finally. Does anyone have a good guide for Prema bios settings or useful tweaks I should do? I've watched a few youtube videos which helped, but that's about all I could find. -
i can recommend @Mr. Fox youtube channel (MrFoxRox) he has a lot of videos describing in great detail all the Prema Bios options. its not always on the same machine but the options are more or less the same independent from the system

@Zoltan@HIDevolution Hey, man. I forgot to ask you earlier during our call on how to reactivate the Windows Pro edition on my system. I also sent you an email, but I think you're helping other customers at the moment.
Any thoughts, @Donald@HIDevolution, on how to do this?
P.S. Thank you guys for the Prema BIOS update. I'll have to read/watch about how to best tinker with it.
OT: Did the BIOS update affect any other tweaks that @Phoenix do with our units?Donald@Paladin44 likes this. -

Edit: Anyway, like I posted before, were there any other tweaks done by @Phoenix that were affected by the BIOS update? I just noticed that the power settings were gone, and it's just at Balanced right now. I've since changed that.Last edited: Apr 3, 2018Donald@Paladin44, Papusan and Zoltan@zTecpc like this. -

Will this be the proper thread to ask about the BIOS settings for the unit? Specifically ones that concern OCs and other "good" and/or needed tweaks? -

EDIT: Another thing I noticed since the update is that the fans are noiser/more used than before.
EDIT 2: Yeah, I'm going to need an amazing person to give me a guide for Prema OCing. LOL.Last edited: Apr 4, 2018 -
it doesnt matter if options have been moved, theyre still the same
in the end, its always the same procedure:
CPU
- reduce voltages as much as possible for a given cpu multiplier
- maximize allowed wattages and voltages to avoid TDP / platform limits
- maximize cpu multiplier while staying below 90C for long term hard usage
- disable any and all "powersaving" and "efficiency" features to avoid any throttling
- do proper stability / stress testing for 24/7 settings
RAM
- main goal is to reach higher clocks (timings are secondary to overall performance, no matter what other users might say, deal with it)
- if a direct switch to higher clocks causes instability, try loosening the timings a bit or set higher DIMM voltage / IO voltage / system agent voltage / uncore voltage (one at a time, not all at once!)
- after getting clocks stable, tighten up timings ONE AT A TIME
- do proper and thorough stability/stress testing for 24/7 settings
GPU
- as with cpu, lower voltages as much as possible for a given frequency
- maximize allowed wattages to avoid running into TDP limits
- maximize vRAM and Core clocks while staying inside thermal limit (below 90C for long term hard usage)
- do proper stability / stress testing for 24/7 settings
and, most importantly: dont be lazy. dont expect spoon-feeding. do your due diligence. do research. use google to read up on general bios settings. dont expect step by step guide specific to your own bios, hardware and laptop. were all learning here by doing and exchanging our experiences, but we dislike spoonfeeding
and as a last resort, if you cannot find ANYthing whatsoever on the whole of google, forums, etc on a given bios setting then just try it yourself and see what happens! even mr. fox learned that way
cheers!

I have been trying to follow through @Phoenix's 2016 walkthrough video. The biggest difference I'm seeing is the disappearance of several Ring/Cache Ratio options (voltage offsets and VR current limits come to mind ) and the loss of Turbo Power Max/Time Window options. I've tried about four configurations since @Zoltan@HIDevolution helped me with their default/standard OC settings. Two of them resulted in being stuck in a boot loop when the EVOC logo appears. I've just made it work again which is why I can type this reply right now.
OT: This is why this forum has been amazing. It's you guys, who pour over your knowledge and experiences, that make things a bit easier for people like me. Thank you.Donald@Paladin44 likes this. -
the particular thing ive noticed myself is that no matter how many years of hardware tweaking experience you have, with every new piece of hardware you have to start learning anew! sure, some basics always remain the same (like the goals you want to achieve and how to roughly do that), but say, when it comes to stress testing or voltage adjustments every new cpu / gpu generation has its own quirks and tricks to get to know first.
i can warmly recommend any insight reports on a particular CPU / GPU generation first, like overclocking / technical / voltage guides and also statistics that might sometimes be out there that help you manage realistic expectations, i.e. what to possibly aim for with your hardware.
one big current problem though: overclocking drifts more and more towards "easy" solutions where you click one software / hardware button and BAM! you have insta-overclock, stable of course
well, especially for laptops it aint that easy. it takes a lot of research, trial and error and soft-, as well as hardware tweaking to get it just right. rule of thumb: the more time u spend with a particular component for overclocking, the farther you can take it. sure there are diminishing returns, but you will notice those quickly enough and can then decide for yourself how far youd like to take itVaeron and Donald@Paladin44 like this.
