so the 3610 should technically use less juice and produce less heat than the 3720 correct?
-
Yes, technically, and should be a measurable difference at load.
Just the fact that they can cherry pick 3610QM's to use in a 35W TDP tells me it's borderline. The 3720QM is 300MHz faster than the 3610QM and has a 1.25GHz GPU max frequency compared with 1.1GHz of the 3610/3612. -
Any word on if orders have shipped/when they'll ship? This is very tempting...
-
good point, I think im going to get the 3610QM then, I was tempted on getting the 3720, but guess not anymore because those are very valid points.
-
I have a few questions:
- Since none of the W110ER's customizations will have any built-in WWAN, will it be possible to change the network card (built-in WWAN usually comes network cards, right?) into one that supports WWAN, or is the network card soldered?
- If not, does it have a PC-card slot (preferred, rather than having to use one of those clumsy USB-dongles)?
- I know the GPU is soldered, but will it be possible to change the CPU?
Thanks! -
You can change the wireless card, but I'm not sure if the notebook has the antennae necessary for WWAN. And the CPU is socketed, so it's possible to change it.
-
The wireless card is there at the top left and is replacable with any half height mpcie card as so far as I know Clevo/Sager don't whitelist.
I do wish we had a OP that updated at least with links to the images and videos that have been posted so far. -
For me its all about the Samsung 830. Its clearly the best option on the market right now. For mass storage you can obviously go external with a USB 3.0 drive but in my house its all about the NAS (I've got quite a few systems that back up to it as well as general mass storage). I have a simple mirrored 2TB setup now but I'm thinking about expanding, not for capacity so much as for speed and additional redundancy.
-
Yeah Samsung is great, also more expensive. Crucial M4 seems to be best bang for the buck at the moment, but if I could swing the cost, I'd go for Samsung.
Regarding external storage, go for a Windows Home Server. I have 10TB storage, backs up my machines daily automatically, offers remote access to files, remote PC control, and video and audio streaming. I used old components, using Core 2 Duo, and collected 2TB WD Green drives over the years. Have ten of them, lol. I also have my old WHS v1 machine with AMD Athlon64 X2 that I use to backup my WHS system to, so it's like a redundant server. The largest expense are the hard drives, especially now since prices jumped 50-60% due to that typhoon from last November. -
NewEgg pissed me off this morning regarding the 830 cost. Until today they wanted $158 for the 128GB - this morning it was $229! I bought mine from Amazon for $157. Phew. Looks like the 128GB M4 is ~$138 so the 830 is easily worth the extra $20 to me.
I'll be all over WHS when I get to it...
-
For some reason, I can't PM users. Maybe I haven't been around long enough of something, or I'm just doing something wrong. How shall we proceed? if you can send users emails, then maybe you can just email me and I'll email you my specs?
-
I was wondering, does anyone offer some sort of discount for multiple system purchases? I'm thinking of picking up two of these... both with the 3610 as well
-
You can't PM until you've made at least 5 *quality* posts. And then it can take 24 hours or so before you get PM ability. Don't just spam posts, because they won't count. Asking questions is fine, as is contributing to discussions.
Must resist. At Amazon, Crucial 256GB M4 is $248.99.
Samsung 830 is $312.72 and Intel 520 is $334.99. -
I know, it's so tempting. But I think I might hold out for a lower price/sale on the 512G M4 and just yank the Intel 320 from my desktop.
P.S. Hey dudes. I'm in the market for an ultraportable and I've got my sights firmly set on this one. Just waiting to hear impressions from some of the early adopters before I pull the trigger. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
there was a rebate offer on the m4 1 week ago if Im not mistaken, just keep looking, it came at 1gb/1$ price, actually a little lower since it was 250
nevermind just saw the price at amazon, im quite tempted to be honest j&r deliver to brazil... humm...

How much bigger would a 120W power brick be compared to a 90W brick?
-
About 30W... j/k
I am wondering too. I'd prefer the 120W if that will allow for charge + game, not to mention possibly improve performance a bit as well as not run the PSU at max for extended periods. If my 120W for my HP DV6z is any indication of the Sager 120W PSU, it's not too bad. 6" x 2.5" x 1.5". Hopefully a reseller can measure the dimensions of the 90W and 120W and report back. -
Thanks to both of you! So what are the conditions needed to implement WWAN? Does the computer need an internal antenna? I guess you can't just swap cards and call it a day?
-
/me points at sig, give us an email
Yea give us a PM we of course do QTY discounts
The BIOS limits these things to 90W, so we are in conversations to figure out why this is the case as its VERY rare of Clevo to put a software limit on the amount of wattage these laptops take in.
Because there is only one slot, it would have to be a mPCIE interfaced mPCIE card (Typical WWAN cards are USB in a mPCIE slot) and then the antennas would be ok but you would typically lose the WLAN part. WWAN combo cards are actually USB+PCIE on the same card the PCIE powers the WLAN and the WWAN is USB based. Also you would have to get a SIM card reader or some such as there is no SIM slot. -
Meh. What? Come on Clevo! Really? I guess I'm most interested then in undervolting if Prema can pull his magic, give us a little more room for GPU overclock. Not that I'll likely have to overclock for a while, lol.
-
That limit is mostly for people who would otherwise try to put their 220W PSU with a 3920XM...
We can easily alter or even remove that limit.
Let Myth get some real hardware limits and we adjust it accordingly.
GPU undervolt and overclock is also possible.
ALL IS WELL !

Has anyone benchmarked the GT650m ddr3 on 1080p? If I understand correctly the should preform worse than the ddr5 in that regard and I would like to know how much worse.
-
gaah. cant wait to order this little boogar. can one request them without any stickers and branding as well?
-
Stickers get stuck on there by Clevo at the factory, branding is optional and can be requested as no branding =)
thanks -

I think I may order one from LPC Digital, anyone have any ideas as to how much it'll cost me for duties if applicable? Or do I just pay the GST and QST when it arrives?
-
+1
Would like to see the performance difference between ddr3 and ddr5 at 768p/1080p. -
I never understood the difference between branding and no branding. Is there one? It just seems that no branding is sleeker and would look better, but there's never been a price difference, so I"m leaning towards just getting it with no branding
-
I would agree but no branding just looks weird on the w110er. There's a stripe through the middle where you'd expect a logo to be.
-
i think it'd be so cool if you could put a custom plate there or something, maybe put your name instead of sager there. i'd be willing to pay a little for that.
also @mythlogic, just set you guys an email detailing out my specs, can't wait to hear your reply
-
Two quick questions, since I'll be getting one soon to replace my aging M11x R1:
-Does the laptop support an external nVidia 3D Vision monitor? It has HDMI 1.4a so it should support it at 720p/60Hz (which, given the specs of the Clevo and how 3D basically cuts framerate in half, is fine by me), but I think it'd require regular/non-Optimus drivers as I don't think they have the option otherwise. My concern, though, is that certain laptops (from what I've read, at least) output HDMI via Intel graphics, and it's a hardware thing...
-(Kinda directed to resellers like MythLogic) Where can I find a reseller that carries the new Killer 1202 card with Bluetooth 4.0? Or is it not available yet? -
Just ordered mine from LPC-Digital. Will do the requisite benchmarking along with in-game FPS when it comes. Can't wait! Mega Kudos to Larry for his polite and professional attitude, configuring it as I wanted it and scoring me a decent discount.
I debated between no logo and a logo and ended up going with a logo because of same thing. With that stripe I thought it looked silly without one. I considered making my own custom logo "Firefly" which is what she's gonna be named, and have it slapped on there. Working in the auto industry I think I might have some contacts that could do that for me.
-
I don't know if you know this or not, but why does LPC digital give you the 120W? Every other reseller gives you the 90W if you go with the i7, unless I'm missing something here?

I want to order from LPC digital as well, but I need to pay with my master card and I don't even see an option on the site to order with credit card... Am I missing something? -
PM Larry here at NBR (babyhemi) or better yet email him at [email protected]. He recommended emailing over PM at present because he's near his PM limit here at NBR for the time being. I can relate, lol. I hate email jail.
I noticed the 120W in my order summary and figured it was just an error. But maybe not. Perhaps Sager found a way to get around the limit in the BIOS, hopefully. I'll be overly satisfied if this is the case. -
Firefly is an awesome name for an ultraportable.
Don't be surprised if you see I stole the name one day. -
I'm very seriously considering getting this little guy. I think the machine looks fantastic, and with the smaller 1366x768 screen, the gtx650 should be more than adequate at being able to play anything at max settings. I just sent off an e-mail to the company via it's website e-mail system inquiring about pricing and shipping to Canada. I hope to hear back soon. My tax return should be more than enough to cover this and I'd like to have something portable that I can game with at a friend's place (I can't but lugging around my water-cooled tower to a buddy's place) or use at school to take notes.
Only disappointment is the lack of options for a back-lit keyboard, but that's not a major issue. -
Awesome. When do you expect it to arrive? I think I'm gonna buy one of these in the next couple weeks.

Just a note...
Yes it is confirmed, the Sager factory (that we use) does ship the 120W PSU if you order the 3rd Generation Intel® Core i7-3610QM Processor.
It is automatic. Unless you specify you only want the 90W one.
_ -
I should have a better idea tomorrow afternoon/evening since Sager isn't open over the weekend.
-
Does the 120W vs the 90W make a difference? The battery is still going to charge the same... right? or am i about to really get taught some knowledge here hahaha
-
If the peak Watt limit isn't reached it should still charge. There should be amps to spare.
-
Hey mythlogic, I have an idea for you, can you modify the display chasis to accommodate the 12.5" IPS screen in the Lenovo X220 or even the Boe-Hydis HV121WX6 (12.1" but 16:10 @ 1280x800) ? If you can do that, that would greatly differentiate your model from other models (more unique = more buys = more profits). I am sure it's worth the effort. I know I will be one of the first guys in line to buy such a machine.
The LG P330 came close to being the perfect gaming machine but LG backed out at the last moment and put a subpar screen on the P330 and it was very horrible.
Just throwing some ideas out there for you guys to consider. Dell has never responded to what gamers really want and that's why their sales are quite horrible with the M11x. The biggest complains about their notebook were about the screen being too glossy and having poor viewing angles. Listening to customers' feedback would be a good way to show that you care and we don't mind supporting such vendors. -
I believe the issue with the screen is the connection. It is LVDS which apparently has a limited number of panels in 11.6". eDP might make something like that possible.

I noticed that as well, on LPC's config page, it says if you order the 3610QM you will be given a 120w PSU instead of the 90w. Pretty cool IMO. -
babyhemi confirmed that you get the 120W PSU: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...ager-np6110-owners-lounge-54.html#post8481126
Makes me happy. Won't have to buy one now.
I guess they did it because technically the 3610QM could put it over the 90W threshold. -
i was talking to Larry at LPC Digital, (i think that's babyhemi, right?) and he said it's to make sure that even if the power consumption goes a tad over 90W, which it shouldn't theoretically, u won't get any lag. You might theoretically put urself over the threshold, esp if you overclock and stuff which is why I think
-
Picking one up as soon as the paycheck goes through. Dont wanna over spend, you know.
Dat feel when you go from a pentium 4 for to a quad core ivy bridge. -
I'm right there with you. Pentium 4 HT... 256 gb hdd..... 3.5 gb ram... gt 210m 512 mb..... lawl.
-
You've upped me.
1 gig of ram, no hyper threading, on board video card... if it weren't for linux, i'd go mad. -
o.o ok you win. i can't say that i've found anyone who could beat me out on the "who's computer is crappier" contest... o.o alright i surrender. hahahaa
