Oh they had their place at the time, m.2 being more common was the final nail in the coffin.

If they're the same form factor I don't see a problem.

I believe the 7265ac is only m.2, iirc the 7260ac was the last mini PCI-e higher end card. It came in m.2 as well so be careful ordering.

Kind of a stupid question, but is there any good way to clean the wierd textured coating on the entirety of the laptop? I take this around with me every day, and something in my bag got on it and now i cant get it off of the lid.

An alcohol solution (higher the better) in a soft cloth should do the trick for most surfaces.

Anyone know of a good place to buy replacement batteries for this laptop or even know what the best option for a replacement BMS for this? I have made a 3d model for the battery to convert it to a 9cell but I couldn't get the laptop to detect the battery but this could have been because I couldn't get the connector to seat all the way. For the amount of money the ebay sellers are wanting for replacement batteries it seems like a better option to build a pack with 3400mAh cells. I tried soldering some spare cells I had together but they ended up being too long to fit into the battery area. The model just needs a tiny bit of rework but for the most part it's done. i'm trying to mod the vbios but the changes i made do not show up in gpu-z.

i used mmtool / PhoenixTool to extract the vbios and modified the rom with kepler bios tweak, replaced the dumped rom and saved the new bios.

i extracted the modified rom from the new bios and the kepler bios tweaker shows the changes, just to check the new vbios saved and it did.

but when i flash it on the machine, upon booting and checking gpu-z it still registers the original clocks. i.e. i changed the boost clock from 950 > 1050 but still shows 950.

not sure what else to try? anyone know how to get the modified vbios to work? prema obviously did it with the oc'd vbios.

what's the secret to getting the modified setthings to stick / show ?

Here's something strange that I've found:

It appears that on various laptop parts websites, there are two types of fans listed for the W110ER. Part #s 6-23-AW15H-011 *OR* 6-23-AW150-100.

I ordered a fan for my W110ER and received part # 6-23-AW15H-011. It is too big. The part # listed on my original fan is 6-23-AW150-100. I should have ordered that one, specifically.

But what's going on with this? Were there two different configurations for this laptop?

I think the thicker fan is just used in other machines. They are likely not listing it correctly.

Distribution of mods without the authors permission is generally considered pretty scummy round here @lucasjw . Also you are asking without providing anything to the community.

I've pulled my w110er apart and mounted it on a board. Everything was working great but now it is behaving as if my WiFi is disabled by hot key. I no longer have the original keyboard attached, so does anyone know how I can soft enable the WiFi? I've tried via control panel - network adaptors, enable /disable doesn't get it back on.

Thanks for replying. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, it's the wireless n135 module. I've tried the disable/enable in device manager. But when I turn wifi on from win 10 swipe from the right menu it doesn't turn on.

A keyboard isn't the problem, the keyboard is. I threw away the original keyboard as it wasn't working well, which is partly the reason I deconstructed the machine. The keyboard I am using cannot trigger the FN+F11 which I think is required. Do you know of any way I can do this entirely in software without the original keyboard?

I vaguely remember the old versions of the 'Hotkey' utility used to have a main window you could bring up by double clicking the system tray icon that had toggles and sliders for all the system options

Worth a shot downloading it, but that's what I mean in terms of keyboards, spares and even slightly broken ones would do the job.

Well I installed hot key 8.xxx from Clevo downloads. Whilst it had no ability to switch my WiFi on or off, it just didn't show any options for WiFi, curiously WiFi came back on after I installed it. So I didn't work as expected but it did work. Thank you.

i don't know if this thread still alive or not but i need help with mine.
So recently i update my OS from win 7 to win 10 due to win 7 support will end on Jan 2020. I do win 10 clean installation and the process going on smoothly until NVDIA GT650M driver installed into the system. My system got restart loop during start up after gt650m driver installed. Windows back to normal after i uninstall the driver / restore my system before the driver installed. I already try several version of nvidia drivers for GT650m but all driver causing restart loop to my windows. Now i'm stuck with intel graphic, is there any solution for this problem?

Does it still work on your windows 7 image? Have you tried an IGP/GPU package from a more modern system?

My clevo w110er run normally on win 7 OS with gt650m gpu. The problem in windows 10 only occured after i install gt650m driver (restart loop bluescreen during start up with "VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR" notice), uninstall the driver or activating system restore before i install the nvdia driver solve the problem but i'm stuck with intel graphic in this condition. Just wanna ask if other clevo w110er user experience this problem when upgrading / using windows 10?

It did run normally yes, but something could have happened and you wont say if you tested a modern set from say the pb51 series.

Sorry for the noob question, what is PB51 series?
You mean if i tested my windows 7 on another more modern laptop with different IGP / GPU package?

For information, i got my windows 7 already pre-installed when i buy my clevo w110er. I always update the windows 7 and nvidia gt650m drivers but choose not to upgrade to windows 10 because windows 7 still work for me. I do clean installation to windows 10 after hearing the support for windows 7 end on Jan 2020. The installation went smoothly and my system can boot normally to windows 10 (still no graphic driver installed). When i check windows update, the system downloaded several update for windows and drivers i need to install to my system (NVDIA GT650M driver is one of it). After windows installed the update for windows and installed nvidia gt650m drivers, the system ask for reboot. When rebooting i get restart loop bluescreen ("VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR") when windows showing my desktop. After several safe mode & system restore i found nvidia driver is the cause of this. Uninstall the driver or disable it will make windows 10 running normally but then i'm stuck with intel gpu.

I already read several forum telling windows 10 creator update is the culprit and installing old version of nvidia driver can solve this, But i already try 3 version of nvidia driver and all of them still get restart loop at windows start up. Any advise? or downgrading my windows is the only solution for this?

The pb51 is a modern machine that supports optimus (google search pb51 clevo and it's the first result)
