Spec sheet at least calls out 650m: http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/laptop/ideapad/y-series/y480/Y480_Datasheet.pdf
and marketing page I linked to before shows 660m as optional. I doubt it's a typo in both instances. Although I notice "up to 5 hours of battery life". Lenovo's, at least Ideapads are notorious for using small batteries.
Two.

Just PM one of the many resellers here. They can configure it however you want.
-
Where are all the good resellers at for this laptop? I only know of xoticpc!
-
Guys, how could you miss out Mythlogic, who posted a lot of the valuable stuff here in this very thread
:
MYTHLOGIC :: Configure Your System
Just PM him if you want extra stuff or without certain parts.
That guy is like the only way to go if you want to deal with someone, who knows what he´s doing.
He got me all those spare parts, which none of the others even wanted to sell. When I ask technical question, he was the only one who gave valuable feedback.
He got my business this time, because he totally deserves it!
-
Out of curiosity, what "spare parts" were you offered in your order? I already have Mythlogic on my radar due to the offering of a matte screen option (do you hear this, other retailers?), but would like to know what else I could be asking for in my order if I have a need for it.
-
I needed parts for my P170HM3 like HDD bay with matching bezel, bottom plate, special revision CPU & GPU heatsinks with the whole fan units...
For the W110ER I didn´t want certain things, because I already have them. I remember when I bought my P170HM3 from an other dealer, it was a big thing to order without an OS...took them a few days to approve...that was when I started to avoid the big players, too inflexible.
-
Yup, there are a lot of very good resellers but it seems Mythologic is the way to go with this laptop due mainly to the matte screen option.
I like the variety of SSD they offer too and not focused on only 1-2 brands.
I wish I could find a furmark benchmark to see how well the cooling system handles the heat for the GPU. -
Yeah, I already know that for my prospective order I won't be desiring any RAM, OS... possibly even no hard drive, as I would like to use my own components for each of those. It's good to know as I don't want to bother with the extras lying around.
-
Im so interesting this lappy too and Ill ask you, MYTHLOGIC, is there possible to get SWE/FIN Keyboard with lights and shipping to Finland? How about the warranty? How about etc motherboard goes broken, can I buy spare part to this?
After 23 april or little above when those IVYs have arrived I can buy this because I want that processor ---> better GPU on it + of course with this 650m
E1. I got my answers from Mythologic Live Chat, thnx

Driver for W110ER just went live:
CLEVO - Download -
What would be the battery life on this little guy?
-
Battery life : 410 minutes (UMA mode with 62.16WH battery)

Not that I know what kind of answer you got but I think it is highly unlikely they stock W110ER SE keyboards in the US. In Europe I think Sweden will be the first market to receive the W110ER so you are lucky
Btw. the W110ER has no backlit keyboard.
As for our own webpage we will launch a new one on Monday and then you will see the W110ER. -
O.O
Not too shabby there...wonder what I can do with it on linux... -
Just PM any Sager reseller here. I recommend LPC-Digital or XoticPC. They've configured machines any way I want. They only have standard options set up on the site, but will take special requests. Mythlogic is a Clevo reseller, but also a good option. I am considering them too, but not sure if I will use them only because I have to pay 6% sales tax since they're in my same state.
-
With as close as a configuration as I can make the Mythlogic price is $200 more than the XoticPC price. Am I missing something? I read up a little on the RJTech place I found with the the barebone option and think I will get it from them. Fingers crossed they will have Ivy Bridge options on Monday - I might even splurge on the quad...
BTW, love the matte option at Mythlogic, is it the exact same screen otherwise? $100 is steep if it is... Maybe I can order my barebones without the panel and then get the matte one from them. I emailed RJTech about a matte option, we'll see... -
mythlogic is a smaller operation with a very hands on approach to system building... xoticPC is more of a reseller who offers Sager/Asus/MSI brand laptops buying in larger quantities and supporting different units
-
Hello, I'm considering picking up a W110ER/NP6110 from xoticPC but I ran across this from ProStar:
Prostar W110ER 11 Laptop | Clevo W110ER Laptop | Sager NP6110 Laptop | Custom Built Laptop
According to their site and a confirming email from their sales staff, they offer the W110ER with a "Built-in DVD±R/RW Combo drive Upgrade to Blu-ray/DVD±R/RW Combo Drive".
My question is, where would this fit and is it even possible? Or, is the sales staff at ProStar simply misinformed?
Thanks. -
There is no built in drive of any kind for this laptop, they made a mistake.
-
It does force one to ask whether a "very hands on approach" is worth $200. I'm happy to pay for a matte screen, or possibly for a Killer NIC, but the non-negligible price discrepancy for what seems like the same thing does irk me. Should a Clevo reseller charge more than a Sager reseller? I'd expect the reverse, given one less middle-man.
-
why no high res option? yeah it would be small, but 11.6 option, but what about those who don't care about that... 1080p is where its at, I mean look at the freaking iPad.

As far as an optical drive you are right. You would need an external USB one for example, for this model.
Many Ultra Portables are this way unfortunately. Sorry.
_ -
I can't even remember the last time I used an optical drive. Having an external one isn't so bad. All manufacturers will cut them out eventually just like floppy drives IMHO
-
Did you add on the calibration and IC diamond re paste to whom ever you were comparing to Mythlogic? I when I was looking around back when the 650 was removed from NDA and all the new machines started showing up the price was within $30 once I made sure to match the bits that mythlogic does standard. Those two are the two options I recall being most commonly a separate item at other resellers. They also have a 4 year free labor on repairs built in but I never found a equivalent warranty option on other resellers.
-
That's sort of a fair point. If you add in the monitor calibration (which seems like snake oil for such a low-gamut screen), and you ignore the cash discount, then it's within $30.
-
I use Blu-ray quite frequently. And difference between floppy and optical, is floppy was never the medium for movies and other video content...
My issue with digital distribution is there is no true 1080p HD quality video. It's all 720p compressed. Nothing compares with blu-ray that's distributed or streamed digitally. -
...quad? There's a quad?
-
The 3612QM is expected with high probability. It will probably be announced on Monday.
-
It's BGA though. I doubt the CPUs are going to be soldered on.
-
anyone knows "good" EU sager resellers which already or in future will sell W110ER?
-
According to notebookcheck it will come in both flavors, BGA and PGA: Intel Core i7 3612QM Notebook Processor - Notebookcheck.net Tech
-
I did miss the fact that the monitor was calibrated "for free" at Mythlogic and I'm not a fan of that. As said above thats not really necessary for a screen as low end as it will inevitably be so its really just a profit center. I don't get the $30 difference though, I still get $150. The CPUs don't match by default for one, I don't think I missed anything else...
How do you even calibrate an LCD screen with no OS installed? I've never seen one with an OSD to tweak - do they supply a color profile to load up after you install your OS? -
Pre-ordered mine from Mythlogic with the quad (Intel Core i7-3612QM) - speak to a sales rep and they'll note your order. It's not yet a configurable option on the site. They said the price to go quad is within $50 of the top-end currently available (configurable) i7 on their site.
-
My hold off is pricing. I don't want to pay +$400 for the quad, which could be very likely. I'm just waiting for them to be available for configuration and go from there.
-
It's only +$200 or less from base. They said configure the i7-2640M and it'll be $25 more...exact quote from email:
-
Pricing hasn't been released yet, so not sure how they can know? That would be good news however if true. In any case I'm still holding off to avoid any surprises.
-
Why wouldn't they know? Pricing hasn't been released to the public...they're retailers.
-
Because they don't want price leaks.
Plus from one reseller here at NBR through PM:
" No Reseller has the prices yet or even knows the exact time Sager will forward it to us for the Ivy Bridge CPU's in ANY model."
I know Mythlogic are Clevo resellers and not Sager, but as far as I know, Intel is pretty tight lipped about details until NDA is lifted. They may get a 24 hours advance indication or something so they can do some quick pricing checks, and likely only to select individuals in the corporation, otherwise nobody else knows. -
Hm. Well, I trust them. I'm sending in my check on Monday. Here's hoping Mythlogic takes care of me and there are no $50+ surprises.
I should have bought from them when I went m14x. What a debacle that was. Been watching Myth ever since and they seem real solid. -
I'm sure Mythlogic have a good feel for pricing, but with Intel you just never know.
-
Dude, they don't get their pricing through third partys, they directly deal with Intel and IB release is tomorrow!?
Matte screen + Ivy Bridge Quadcore = Myth FTW
-
Just to clear up some debate,
Yes we do have pricing for IVB, no I can't give you exact pricing for the chips (Hence the about part)
Yes all will be onsale/revealed on the 29th. -
Hmm, with all the posts here with the resellers I'm now having a hard time between which resellers to choose from.. I was originally planning on purchasing from XoticPC. Can someone specify why Myth has a higher price point?
Also, did XoticPC already start shipping? It said on their site that they start shipping on the 22nd.
. -
They dont charge for certain things like for the OS and other things that should come standard with every laptop.
-
So "about $25 more" from the i7-2640m which is listed at +$134.40, so it should only be about +$160 from the stock config then?
-
Due to contractual obligations I cannot say: Yes
However, that math looks pretty good =) -
Theoretically speaking of course.
-
@ MYTHOLOGIC
Since there is no optical drive would you offer to have the drivers and OS put in a SD CARD/USB drive?
I'd be willing to pay the extra cost -
Of course, thats something we can do. I would suggest USB key, but yea we can do all that no problem.
-
Excellent, thanks for the quick response. You never know when you might have to do an emergency re-install. Great to know.
-
In light of mythlogic's post, I guess we shall be waiting till the 29th for the ivy bridge. was REALLY hoping it was released tomorrow.
