Interesting stuff. Thanks for the test! Curious if it suffers from the same horrible micro stutter that AMD's dual GPU technology did using their own AMD APU IGP plus dedicated AMD GPU. With my old HP with AMD Llano A8 and Radeon 5650 some games it would offer as much as 10FPS improvement, others it would show a faster FPS, but the microstutter would make me sick.

The software skips frames yet FPS counters will still count them, it has no real benefit :/

Hi. I just bought new Clevo W230ST and update to EC03.02 and BIOS03.03 from clevo ftp. I try to install NVIDIA GTX765 drivers under Win8 and Win8.1 and I had the same problem " Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
Order I install drivers from clevo ftp:
1. Chipset
2. Intel HD4600 x64 Driver
3. NVIDIA x64 Driver -

If that happens out of the box you need to contact your reseller.

No luck with the driver update, the clocks sprung to 405/405 MHz just now after playing for some time...
Settings are all fine, everything is set to use the Nvidia GPU at maximum performance but the GPU just stays in the low performance state... -
Lately I've been getting some weird screen black outs. It's hard to describe, it starts to black/blip out but not completely at first. Almost as if it was losing connection. It will sometimes black completely out. Everything is still running except the screen will be out. Putting the comp to sleep and then waking it will solve the issue every time, at least momentarily. Sometimes it seems like if I tab to a different window or move the mouse it seems to fix it and sometimes when I physically move the lcd it seems to fix it but it happens so fast it's really hard to tell if thats doing anything, it might just be in my head. If it completely blacks out it will stay that way until I put the comp to sleep or shut it down. I can't tell if this is a hardware or a software issue. I have updated the drivers at least twice through the Nvidia software, so this is happening at least across two drivers. Running Windows 7. Any ideas?

It may be the display cable coming loose in the back.

I'll try the official Nvidia driver this afternoon, it seems to be a known problem with an older beta driver, there's even a post in the Nvidia forum from a w230st user back from september: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/603098/nvidia-765m-clock-control-issues/
Is there a 3rd party tool to lock the performance state of the GPU? -
Can Premas v1.1 BIOS be upgraded to the latest stock bios (the one on his site)?
-
Anyone else noticed that the usb ports are a little odd?
when i insert any device in to any of the ports, the plug doesn't seem to go all the way in.
This means that the slightest nudge and the device can become "disconnected", pushing it back in a mm or so will fix this issue.
I find this really annoying, is it some kind of problem with my laptop or are they all the same? -
This is Clevos Changelog" Fix “sometimes system hangs up during POST” issue." -
Hello every1. I got an idea of doing a little mod including some dual tape and lifting a laptop a little - so it has air to cool and not be too much to fit in backpack. The idea is to lift a laptop some old desktop keyboards when gaming and intensive cpu work . Have a look at attached pics, could someone point me in a right direction on where can I buy/make such a thing? I don't like the idea of a cooler/plugging it in etc

Just bought this laptop, running 8.1, installed the chipset drivers and intel display drivers but the nvidia driver keeps saying no compatible hardware found :/.
The device is identified as follows : PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5287&SUBSYS_02301558&REV_01\4&12383250&0&00E3. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -

How about downloading and trying the 8.1 drivers directly from Sager http://www2.sagernotebook.com/pages/notebooks/download.cfm?ProductType=7330 (assuming you were trying from the including disc previously)

Upon swapping my ssd to a hdd, I got the same "device not recognized" nvidia problem trying the latest drivers.
I had to install the sager version before upgrading to the latest... If that can help. -
Question to my dudes:
I am going to upgrade from Windows 7 to 8.1. If I keep all of my files will there be any conflicting driver issues? Should I reinstall the drivers?
I do not want to do a clean format.
Thanks -

You should be fine and can address issues if they do arise. Sager does have 8.1 drivers available to download on their site. You can get them now if you'd like but if it were me I'd get them only if you need them. To be on the safe side of things maybe get the ethernet drivers, that way you can get back online and download any others you need pretty easily.

Well I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 and despite the fact that my files are still on the hard drive, it seems I need to reinstall everything for it work again.
Also, everything is really blurry, even though my resolution is at 1920x1080. This is a little weird. -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
I've been recommending everyone to do a clean install going to 8.1. Too many issues it seems when doing the upgrade itself, so not too surprised on that front. No idea about the blurry screen though.GuniGuGu likes this. -
Blurry screen had to do with font sizing and scaling. Manually changed it and now it's fine.
I'm also reinstalling all of the drivers. I can tell there are a few compatibility issues. -
Just wanted to share a rather successful config for my W230ST. By carefully choosing the CPU multipliers, I was finally able to get a quite stable -100mv undervolt. By limiting the 4-core multiplier to 28 and undervolting, I get a much cooler-running laptop and, as you can see, it doesn't seem to hurt performance. The GPU overclock was easy as well. I'm running the Prema 1.1 BIOS, which I do recommend, although I'm unsure if it made any difference to my overclocking. It does allow disabling of HT, however, which is rather nice at times.

Is there anyway I can install a 3rd party sound card into my W230st?
-
Into, I really can't see how... but 3rd party sound cards are usb anyhow.
-
What are the benefits of disabling hyperthreading?
Also, I installed the touchpad driver but it does not seem to be working. It does not appear in the taskbar and there is no application I can open anywhere. -

The blurriness should be gone. Somehow (yet again) Microsoft botched the scaling and even makes it 125% default even though it looks like crud.
And yeah Windows 8.1 upgrade is far from "fluid". It's basically a new OS install, so you have to reinstall everything. Major PITA. -

Hello
So i finally received my w230st, and wow this thing is super nice... I am actually enjoying the Batmobile style(the edges bah)...
So two questions pertaining to parts i have received
One is this
What are the little squishy black pads that seem to be risers ? Are they meant for the HDD/SSD bay where if you have a smaller or thinner drive this helps with keeping it even with the sata port?
Two
What is this?
I noticed it when i opened up the back to put different memory in...
It is the little tube looking thing between the blue and pink capacitors...(think its a thermometer or a sound device (NSA)
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
The little black things are to put on a hard drive, at least if you're talking about what I think you are.
You can include pics of the items you have questions about and then we can tell for sure. -
That tube looking thing is an antenna, probably for WiFi... it's just held there with the tape so that it'll stay in place. If you slide up the black tubing a bit you ought to see a connector, the pressure fit kind used for WiFi antennas of this sort.

Well I got the same low memory issue after installing directly 8.1...
-
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk -
I assume it's a known issue with 8.1 and virtual memory...
If so I'd expect a patch from MS very soon. -
-
Also since upgrading to 8.1 the webcam is no longer in existence...
-
did you turn it on with the function key
-
-
Touchpad driver still is not working.
Also can't uninstall it.
