Came up with something to cover up the (minor) scratches on the palmrest and cover up the touch pad and power button (the blue LED annoyed me), happy with the result:

The Avery Supreme wrap is harder to work with, but it actually feels really nice as a trackpad surface.

Hi, I have the Prema mod bios installed for a long time, but since 2 weeks ago the hdmi output doesn´t work.

With my normal monitor it works but it doesn´t work with the tv.

When I start the pc with my monitor it works without problems in windows, bios, etc. but with the TV it´s impossible.
I’ve tried everything, a new hdmi cable, other hdmi port in the TV...
It´s says panasonic TV and i can change the 50/60Hz , resolution but no way.

I´ve reinstalled windows 8 and linux.

The only thing I can do is reinstalling the prema bios, can I do that?
It´s not an update, it´s the same bios so I don´t know if y can do that.

Has anyone else had problems with the machine resuming from sleep in Windows 8.1?

When I do, the CPU is stuck on 1.65 GHz and I have to shut it down and start it again, rebooting still leaves it in 1.65GHz. I have stock BIOS and stock settings.

This is what I have, and I've had it since like the 2nd week of ownership: Amazon.com: Brenthaven 2099 ProStyle Sleeve I for Tablet / Macbook / Ultrabook up to 13.3-inch - Black/Copper: Computers & Accessories

Padding is nice, size is perfect, has pocket for headphones. Ballistic nylon all the way around, and faux fur on the inside. The zipper is also high quality, so no snagging or scratching. A bit pricey, but I swear by Brenthaven stuff, and their lifetime warranty keeps me feeling safe. Good luck!

Backpacks are so much better If you ever have to walk somewhere longer then 5 mins. For my IT job i first got a sidebag and I now have a backpack.

Its just so much less stress on the shoulder.

I have my W230ST for a week now and I'm wondering, if it is possible to use any kind of remote wake up, for example:

    Wake on USB
    Wake on AC
    Wake on LAN

But I can't find any of these settings in my (Prema-)BIOS and in windows device manager the checkbox for "allow to wake up" is uncheckable. Has anybody an advice how to start the W230ST remotely, as I want to store it under my table (with extra fans of course). Please don't tell me I have to solder a second power switch on the motherboard.

Is there a list of features for PREMA's BIOS mod? I'm gonna grab an i7-4700MQ on mine, and I am concerned with it running hot. I like to keep it cool, but it will be a 100% linux system so XTU isn't an option for undervolting. Does Prema's mod support undervolting without any XTU software? I don't want to borrow a friend's Windows copy then wipe it off for linux.

He is referring to the fact that Intel XTU is not supported under GNU/Linux and he would need to load Windows to undervolt his CPU.

No, actually he's asking if he can undervolt in Prema's BIOS.

To answer - yes. UV is supported in the nodded BIOS.

Edit: The above is wrong. Can change the core multipliers but not the voltages in the BIOS.

Yes, actually he's asking if he can undervolt in Prema's BIOS, because he prefers not to do it under windows using XTU, since he's using GNU/Linux ;)
And I didn't see anything in the bios to UV, but I may be wrong :-/

Weird issue happening lately. Not sure if this is related to unplugging AC and plugging it back in later but...

MSI Afterburner will set my memory clock to 1000 and then my game will crash. I have to keep changing it back to 435... I don't know why this happens.

Not sure about wake on lan or wake on ac, nothing I've dug into. But the computer will resume from sleep mode with a mouse click or keyboard stroke. Don't know about hibernation either on my end as I just disable it right away.

Oh man, I'm really sorry for the confusion. I just checked to make sure and it turns out that I was thinking about the adjustable core multipliers in Prema's BIOS. Turns out that there isn't voltage adjustment outside of XTU which you can only use in Windows. :(

Sucks. If heat is an issue, even with thermald, I'll install a Win7 copy on an old HD and not enter the key. Kind of a stupid thing to do, but I don't think Intel's going to release XTU for linux anytime soon.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

I don't think it's a refresh of the w230st, it's just another compatible screen offered as an option.
You can already order that screen through Eurocom, for a whooping +320$.
I just asked them which model it is, I assume you can get it off ebay for yours.

    Better answer than expected =)

The QHD+ one is the same as seen on the yoga 2, and seems to suffer from color precision issue as an energy-saving feature.

The WQHD is IPS and looks really nice : 97% sRGB, 650:1 contrast, 298.3 cd/m² average brightness

Unfortunately, none seem available separately yet.

    QHD+ 3200x1800
    Samsung LTN133YL01-L01

    1:800 contrast ratio
    Viewing angle: 85 degrees
    Luminance: 350 cd/m2
    Gamut: 72%

    WQHD 2560x1440
    Sharp LQ133T1JW02

    1:1000
    80 degrees
    350 cd/m2
    Gamut 72

Just got my Brenthaven case today. The one multiple people have previously posted about.
Really happy w the purchase. Fits this laptop perfectly. And as people have said before, with the laptop in the case, there is probably no room to stuff a phone into that little phone pocket. But it's good enough to throw in a few thumbdrives or something of that size.
Overall, the case seems like it will protect the laptop well.

Quick question, I couldn't find any results just searching for it. Where is the monitor cable/connection? Mine seems to be loose, and the screen starts flickering alot until i shake it, or bend the screen slightly. Which is quite annoying. So I want to check the connection.

My computer literally does not turn off.

If I shut down, it will "turn off" but anytime I power it back up it says "resuming from hibernation."

    What the heck?

What method are you using to turn it off. Are you doing it through Windows and selecting Shut down or pressing the power button. The power button could be assign to put the computer in hibernate. Does it do the same if you do a hard power down by holding the power button for 5 seconds?

Of course it won't, as you say this is hard shutdown. His problem may be with windows 8 "fast shutdown" option, or something similar, can't remember.

If you have Windows 8.1, press Windows Key+X and choose shutdown and see if it still happens.

I think it's that new crap they added in WIndows 8 where the computer state is saved so that it loads up faster when you turn it on. There is a way to turn if off if you want.

Nope, win7 does not, you have to trigger hibernation manually, whereas win8.1 has a "fast shutdown" option (or something like that) in power management which does that on its own.

Control Panel > System and Security > Power options > choose what the power buttons do... click on "change settings that are currently unavailable", this will enable you to change the greyed out settings, now uncheck "turn on fast startup"

    Done!

I don't seem to have any problems with the exception of the SD card reader. I have tried all drivers from the Sager website to no avail. The device manager shows Realtek PCIE CardReader under Memory Technology Devices when the drivers are installed and shows up as PCI Device under Other Devices when no drivers are installed. Windows does not even recognize an SD card as a mass storage device or register it in Disk Management. I have tried 2 separate SD cards, both of which work on other laptops and tablets.

Anyone have any ideas or solutions? I saw that other people had problems with the SD card reader, but it also looked like updating drivers worked for them.
