Havent experienced any issues with fan noise.

it speeds up and is somewhat noisy when im gaming, but that's pretty much about it. There's some options you can fiddle around with in 'power options' but i think the newer bios doesnt have this problem. (i never had the old one though)

Quick question. I am debating whether to upgrade from the 11 inch.. If you are connected to a monitor via HDMI, does it disable the LCD when you close the lid? I like that feature (bug?) on the W110ER that both screens stay connected in windows and doesn't reconfigure itself when the lid is closed... for example, when watching a movie.

EDIT: also, is the HDMI muxed via the Intel Card? The Asus G46VW pulled a stupid design idea and decided the HDMI port is just connected to the nvidia card..I really hated that

I stop right there. $20 toaster vs. $1000+ laptop... I can drop my wallet too, but it doesn't break.

It's not actually. Some laptops, such as the macbook line or the Asus G46VW, has a lid switch that disables the monitor (not just the backlight) and windows "sees" that as a monitor being unplugged and reconfigures the display output. When playing games or watching movies, this can obviously have undesired results since the screen will turn black and the windows desktop will appear and now the external is the primary monitor.

I think every laptop has a lid switch, but this one and the w110 (at least) only turns off backlight if you close the lid, you're right.
I just checked it, before I thought the display was going to standby.

Lately Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has been running a lot worse than normal. I think it has something to do with my CPU. It never goes above 83 Celcius when at 34T in throttlestop, whereas it used to be in the mid 90's easily.

I have a feeling my computer is not utilizing all of its memory. Lately I have been getting a low memory warning while playing CS.

    This used to never happen.

    edit: nvm found frewster's guide

it looks like my BIOS version is 1.03.02, I should be able to upgrade straight to the latest prema bios right? doing this would change the fan profile to be more active during lower load (so my idle temps arent in the low 60s) among other things, right?

nop, dunno where you saw that, but prema's mod has nothing to do with fan profile, you have the list of modifications on his website.

@frewster yep, installed it right after it came out. What I thought was all ready good got even better... Loving the RAM overclocking menu and fact you could push the BCLK up a bit to squeeze some more performance out of the proc.

i recall reading some posts from resellers saying they were trying out profiles that made the fan more active but it was several months ago

someone was asking people to test it, did anything ever come out of that?

people have also said that the prema bios has helped reduce how often the fan will burst so thats why i assumed it adjusted the fan

Hey, was wondering what people's dGPU frequency sits at when not in use? Via XTU, it says it is 599mhz but that the range is 0-5000mhz. Thought it'd be 0 here as im not gaming just browsing so it'd use the iGPU.

edit: oops that'd be the intel one i'm guessing, not nvidia.

Also, besides undervolting are there any other things I can do in XTU to maximise battery life when not gaming?

Like changing those processor ratios or Turbo Boost Power Max wattages

    Hi guys,

I have standard wifi card with my Clevo and 2.4 GHz is killing me (interference in my block)
I scaned with my other laptop 5GHz and this is way to go.

Do you know what would be the best wifi card to replace for gaming i could use ? Where I can buy it in USA ? (or I have to order via amazon!? )

if you're talking about the screen only, I couldn't find them anywhere at the moment.

edit: the sharp one can be bought here (dunno this marketplace) but is so expensive I'll pass =)

Anyone have a solid ETA on the Clevo W230SS release via Sager or XoticPC? Not sure what model number Sager will give it - NP7330S maybe, or NP9330? Both Sager & XoticPC have withdrawn the NP7330 (Clevo W230ST) from their websites in the last day or two, so I am guessing (hoping) the refresh will be very soon... I am ready to pull the trigger as soon as it's available, based on alleged specs I have seen so far.

Yes the problem is my router, which limit BW to 20Mhz for some strange reason and therefore my throughput is half!

The standard bandwidth for 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks is 20 MHz. Increasing the bandwidth can increase the amount of data that the network can carry. However, if the SBG6580 detects another Wi-Fi network using frequencies in the wider bandwidth, the SBG6580 will automatically reduce the bandwidth to the normal 20 MHz width.

Strange thing is that happend yesterday after some update which Router Downloaded, before it was always 40Mhz and now i cannot find option to switch it back there again :(
So i have to ether replace modem or move to 5GHz.

I tried all chanells in 2,4 GHz :(

So any idea which wi-fi card to pickup ?
