Probably; the fhd ST cables are the same as in the SS and SD models. Schematics are ambiguous (yet nearly identical), but it's more likely the two mis-matching pins haven't been properly labelled (LVDS vs. eDP), same thing with the P37x-xx models and these worked fine for a 4-lane eDP cable+panel, which is what you need to run the WQHD and QHD displays (you have a 2-lane cable right now).
See here for some background info regarding the panels. Since you need a new cable for this to work and you're in Europe, try asking these guys for the parts. Perhaps for the screen as well, depending on the quote. For the QHD cable it's ' 6-43-W23S1-010-K', but, again, would recommend against that option.

Hi I'm getting that BSOD related with the nvidia driver issue. I'm hoping it's not a dead dGPU. Still using prema's biosmod. I want it to return to the stock but I couldn't find it online. Did Clevo stopped distributing such? Where can I get them? Thanks

Usually for your BIOS, you would want to reach out to the seller of your computer. Some Clevo sellers don't put the BIOSs up on their site, you need to request them.

My laptop keeps crashing on games Everytime nowadays. Video card crashes and laptop will randomly crash all together. Is there anyone that got the same issue? I gave up using it for a bit but I don't want to buy a new laptop. I tried rolling back vide drivers. It was messing up on Windows 8. Updated to Windows 10 hoping it would fix it but still happens.

Have you got any tweaks in place? Make sure you are not over heating, try logging graphs using MSI afterburner and intel XTU/and CPU monitoring program. Then look back and see if any of the chips are not behaving normally. If you are unsure post some screenshots of the graphs and we can look at them.

Does anyone know where to get an updated touch pad driver which works with Windows 10? Everything else is fine in W10 but I am no longer able to use any scrolling/swipe gestures with the touch pad. I've tried a few I found googling around but nothing has worked yet. Thanks in advance!

1. Go to http://www.synaptics.com/resources and download latest synaptic driver for Windows 10
2. Install it
3. Open Device Manager (Win + X + M), Navigate to Mice and other pointing devices and find your touchpad driver. Mine said Finger sensing pad or something similar
4. Right click it, Navigate to Driver Tab, Click Update Driver < Browse my computer for driver software < Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer < Deselect Show compatible hardware checkbox < Scroll down to Synaptics < Select the latest Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad Version driver that you just installed.
5. Restart computer and hope it fixes it like it did for me! I had to do some final adjustments in the Control Panel < Mouse area, but the Synaptics tab should show up properly now. I can now two finger tap, scroll, three finger go forward/back, etc. It's awesome and can't believe it took me over a year to fix in 5 minutes. -

I just recently got a hold of one of these systems and after playing around with XTU and adjusting the GPU clocks and memory I was finally able to break the 5k mark in 3dmark11.
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/12258591
This is with a 4700MQ @ -100mv on the vcore and the multiplier for core 0 x 34, and cores 1, 2 and 3 x 33. Also +105 on the GPU core clock and +470 on the GPU memory clock; anything above +470 on the memory caused artefacting and anything about +105 on the core clock caused instability.
Still runs kinda hot with a max CPU temp of 97C on core 0. I am going to do a repaste here soon. I also ordered a replacement HSF (New) that I am hoping will drop the temps down a bit as well. But, I have to admit, I am quite impressed at the performance of this system, regardless of it's age. Plus it gives me something to tinker with, which I enjoy. Don't know if anyone even cares about this anymore, but it's new to me so I thought that I would share. Take care guys.clemenzina and t456 like this. -
Why hasn't the w230 been refreshed with the pascal GPUs?
-
I have a W230SS, which is a slight upgrade from the ST, but when I needed something with a bit more oomph for video editing I found nothing better in 13" and ended up going for a 15" XPS - which is so slim and light you'd hardly know it's 2" bigger. Cooler, too, but I much prefer the keyboard layout of the W230 tho, IMHO it's one of the best ever.

I got a Hasee CW23S04 (W230ST) with BIOS 1.03.03TSZ dated 11/18/2013, apparently it's based on this if not almost exactly the same.
Is there a BIOS compatible with this that is an update over I've got? Either Hasee original or Clevo?Last edited: May 2, 2018 -
You can find a stock Clevo v1.03.08 here.
Iirc, the Hasee version has the factory-optional backlighted logo in the lid, correct? If so; could you share the Hasee stock bios + ec? I've used the 5V solder pads from the logo's led socket to power something else, but I'd rather use it as a relay switch triggered by the led logo's Fn key. -
Thanks, there is no backlighted logo on the lid for the one I've got. KBC/EC revision is 1.03.02.
Do you want this? -
Yes, please. It might still be the led-enable-version, even if your particular Hasee build doesn't have the logo.
-
No problem, what tool you want me to use to dump it? I tried Universal BIOS Backup Toolkit 2.0 but it couldn't identify the BIOS.
-
How odd, UBBT works on my SS series. Perhaps the particular eeprom on your motherboard isn't recognised. Well ... you could try AFUWIN (or AFUDOS), but that might have the same problem. You need a particular version for this system:
AfuWin64 v3.07.01.7z
If it works you'll have a backup of both the bios and ec. But doesn't Hasee provide stock versions as well as drivers? -
The EC that is used is actually not the one hosted in BIOS, so a dump won't contain anything but the factory default fallback EC.
Also Clevo never makes a custom EC without adding the vendors ID behind the revision.
If it just says 1.03.03 then it is stock.
I haven't seen Hasee using the LID LED.
If you can find a reseller, review or picture of a vendor that did on any W230 revision let me know and I'll see if I can get those files for you. -
Hi Everyone,
Anyone know where to get the Prema Mod BIOS for the W230ST been searching old post after old post and i cant find it? (is it not supported?)
Also just reapplied the thermal paste "Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut" and was wondering if anyone's gone further into aftermarket heat sinks / other cooling solutions /favorite thermal paste ect.
hope there's still a few going about! -
Hello from almost a year later! I've been linked to Prema's wordpress site, but it appears to be down for maintenance. I'm running a stock BIOS, but looking for solutions to improve the fan profile. If anybody is still using this system, do you have a solution you like for keeping fan noise down during less-demanding tasks? Last night I was using Playstation Remote Play (in bed), and the fans kept cycling between near-zero and loud enough to be annoying.

Is it cleaned out and freshly pasted?
-
No, I haven't poked around in there for a few years. I can clean it, but I'm hesitant to re-paste myself -- it runs basically fine, except for this fan stepping issue. I checked the big BIOS thread, and apparently I never updated to current. I'm still on EC 1.00.01, BIOS 1.00.02. I have been trying to get up to date, since I saw in a changelog somewhere that the fan curves are improved in one of the releases, but I can't get my USB stick to boot. I asked for help in that thread, so we'll see if anybody gets back to me. If I get the BIOS updated and am still unhappy with the fan noise, I'll clean it, and if that doesn't help, I'll think about re-pasting.
ETA: got the BIOS upgraded (had to disable UEFI, boot to DOS, upgrade, turn UEFI back on). I'll update here if the fan situation is improved.Last edited: Jan 25, 2019 -

Give it a proper clean and a re-paste, just clean off the old stuff gently and get some kryonaught/ic diamond.
-
Totally forgot about this thread until now, poking around thinking about buying something new. For anyone who cared, I ended up replacing the fan because the bearings were noisy and it runs much quieter now.
