And i regret buying it
-
-
because of bios support ? please explain urself.
-
The system is not stable with OC enabled so the system runs at bone stock which when the watts kick up gets hot to were it cant be controlled. Ideally i would want a undervolt in place and even lower clocks for better thermals. I cant use a unstable system. Even using throttle stop to lock turbo causes instability. Im not looking to get into a debate on this this is my thoughts and reasons.
If you can get past that then get it but i regret my purchase and thats how i fell about it. I should of did more research on this machine. I think i would of been better off with a X17 and extended warranty because then i dont have to send it out if i have had issues. -
that sounds problematic indeed! Thanks for the headsup. I dont know if many people have this issue but then i might skip this if alot of people have this.
I dont need OC but when on normal it throttles even then meeh. If anyone here hase something positiv id love to hear it ofcourse! -
On the postive side its the fastest Notebook on the market that money can buy. Plus is fully upgradable and easy to access.
-
True but also the most unstable? Im truly intrested but i dont wanne buy something unstable that crashes
-
No one can blame you for that
-
So what do we do . To buy or not to buy

I am a avid gamer so graphics was the most important to me. I went with an i5-11600K for the least amount of added heat and a 3080 that has hit 171Watts. So far the fastest and coolest gaming laptop I have ever owned. I have owned at least 15-20 over the years already. Zero issues and never a crash/BSOD. I have OC enabled in the bios and also undervolt the cpu and cpu cache. I was looking at an MIS GE66 or GE76 with a 3070 and a 3080 but that i7-11800H is just weak and they both run too hot. I have a back up MSI GE75 that I keep at work for gaming and that has an i7-10750H and that CPU will constantly hit 203F and the Super 2080 hits around 180F while gaming which I think is too hot. Bios support is well, typical Clevo bios support. You'd think for $3,000 you'd get a full fledged desktop style bios to go with a desktop cpu, but nope.Xguarded likes this.

Thanks for the answer! Yeah wel i have no issued with clevo at all. But that might be just me. I putted a i9-9900k the other day in my p775tm1g. But then i wanted also a rtx gph and a high hz screen… so im off better to buy a x170 . Il just buy it. And bios support well im patient

If you look over in the Alienware X17 forums, they are pushing their 11980hk's to 11900k levels in CB23 with better cooling overall since it is 10nm not 14nm fab.
If you're in avid gamer, 3060 is the wrong call.
The lack of clarity on Prema BIOS is of major concern. As for Clevo, the system will reach a certain point and BIOS updates will suddenly slow to a crawl and only updates will be for new, critical issues or OS compliance. -

The 3070 is a nice step up from the 3060. I'd agree that should be the focus of a gaming build.

What GPU and CPU do you have in your P775tm1-G? That is the real deciding factor. If you have a 1080, then in raw performance the 3060 is close to a side upgrade depending on game but you do gain access to Nvenc and DLSS (in the tests below subtract 10-15% off of the 3060 scores for the laptop variant):
This basically. 3070 is the best bang/buck this time around IMHO. 1080 to 3060 doesn't make much sense. -
I got a 1070 with i9-9900k in it and 64gb ram… 75hz panel. I mean if i upgrade my panel and gpu i can almost buy a x170 with a 3060… i cud always swap later the 3060 for like sager said a 3070
but the laptop shud be stable tho… -

Hmmmm, that's a decent system. For gaming, 9900k to anything 11th gen outside of an 11700k/11900k is a wash really so it comes down to the GPU. You have options to upgrade anywhere from a 1080 to a 2080 Super.
You can also calculate selling your current rig to offset the cost of a X170KM-G. If you're a hardcore gamer, I'm not seeing the upside to "upgrading" to a 3060 and 3070/3080 GPUs are not cheap stand alone and they won't get cheaper down the road for quite some time.
What games are running poorly? What are you trying to do?
As you've seen in this thread, there are numerous issues and stability problems with the X170KM-G -
yeah hounestly i just wanne be a bit updated.. i dont really play that much games. Sometimes a few rounds of warzone or diablo 2r. Yeah its about 1150$ for me to get a new screen Nd a rtx2070 with heatsink. 1700$ for the x170kmg.. i cud sel my system for 750ish? So either way it wil cost me 1k$.
from what i understand some have trouble wirh 4x32gb sticks wich i wont need anyway. Others have issue with OC wich i dont need also.. i might missed something but if that al the problems then im good i think -
hacktrix2006 Hold My Vodka, I going to kill my GPU
I have the specs in my signature the only issues I have had is refusing to post if 4 sticks was used and the keyboard issue with LED's both have been resolved but yes the BIOS front from clevo is lacking. They made some real strange choices on what they locked down and what they aren't willing to unlock.
However I am really happy with my Clevo its fast and I mean fast, yes it has its issues but this is slightly out weighed by the good things for me at least.
CPU that's replaceable and not that soldered sh1t, a GPU that can be replaced. M.2 ssd which I have moved over too now as well.
Just waiting till next year to get a 165hz screen, 32GB of ram 2933mt/s and an i7 11700K/(KF).
2 TB M.2 x2 nvme and a 4TB nvme m.2 ssd then it will be completed other then stuff for maintance.

With your setup you might do better to part it out and make more but if you will never run 4x sticks or overclock (there might be issues with undervolting) and really plan on running it plain jane vanilla then yeah it should be ok. It is just really more of a side grade as is and once you pump in the money for a proper GPU upgrade....it's going to get pricey real quick.Xguarded likes this. -

Isn’t the x17 about the same price wise

Let us know if you're going to get one or hold the line with the 775tm1.

Oh definitely. The X17 is very inexpensive....
EDIT: Why I typed "not" instead of "very" can only mean one thing....low blood sugar!

And won't be much cheaper because you''ll need/have to pay for Dell's Premium extended support warranty for the items useful lifespan. Aka you buy an ticking bomb that need an extended warranty.

Not sure why I typed "not" vs "very" lol,
As a veteran of Alienware products and costs not even sure how that typo came out!

Yeah thanks for ur clear answers imma stick to p775tm1g and wait for a 3070/3080 x170kmg to come up for sale
i think thats thats the smartest thing to do at this moment and sell the p775

let me know how its working out ! intresting!

Man, the obsidian pc fan control just made this laptop 1000% better as far as fan noise is concerned. Was well worth the purchase. I primarily bought this laptop to replace my desktop to have a smaller space footprint and the portability if needed but the fan noise was quite intrusive for someone that games with a Klipsch 5.1 sound system. Now when I game the fans are hardly audible at the expense of maybe 10 degrees higher Fahrenheit on the CPU/GPU. They both went from the low 140F degrees to low-mid 150F degrees which is still amazing for the watt/heat dissipation.

I don't need it with my two ram modules. I have stock 1.07.07 and it works great for me.

Hey Guys I just updated my Bios to 1.07.06 HId1
Im curious if anyone knows what the 1.07.06 bios does over previous ones like 1.07.04 ?Last edited: Dec 9, 2021 -
Nobody know it, because there is no official changelog available.
They optimized the ram and the boot process. These are noticeable things.sydneyblue likes this. -
Any idea my they are so top secret ?
-
No idea. XMG is doing the best communication about BIOS updates.
I asked my reseller (Clevo Germany) for changelog and they answered to me, there is no changelog available. -
Same from HID

Hey guys, I'm looking at a avadirect model of this laptop with the 11900k and 3080. But I hear the temperatures get really hot, any suggestions for cooling? Should I choose a different cpu?
-
The cpu gets really hot while the Gpu is ice cold. If i was doing this over i would maybe get a non k version or have my reseller do a delid. I hope soon they fix the instability issue regarding the OC feature causing crashes with future bios updates
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's an industry wide thing really. -
Any that can be done about the hot cpu? Liquid metal?
-
With a stable Bios can undervolt the CPU and downclock it. That works like a charm but laptop becomes unstable when OC is enabled.
-
Speaking of that i just Enabled OC in my Bios to see if by some chance it wont crash. Those temps are just too high when it pops up in the 90s. Im going to just run with a -70 on the core voltage offset and no underclock see what happens. So far when i wasnt running wiht OC on my system was 100% stable so far but when not it has not been
-
and what's a better choice? 11900k, 10900k, or 11700k? I'm leaning towards 11900k. Looking at alot of laptops with max power, they have similar Temps. So I might as well go all out and liquid metal the cpu

10850k
-
There's no option for that as I've seen
-
After owning the X170km for 3 months I suggest avoiding it. I have regular black screen crashes where the laptop turns off completely and RTX on will black screen crash or crash the game. Same game will play fine with RTX off. RMAing will just result in weeks of loss time without resolution as the RMA tester will most likely not spend enough time with the machine to experience the crashes. This is my most regretful laptop purchase yet. I have had worse experiences and QC with other laptops but was always able to find resolution due to the issues being so acute. In this case I am most likely stuck with this luxurious lemon. -
Your getting RTX crashes ? On what game ?
-
Then I suggest the 10900k
-
After my rma for my fan, my 10850k has been solid at 4.9ghz |-130 mv
-
Where can I get 1.07.07 // EC 1.07.04
I don’t necessarily want to deal with efi shell
