If gpu is 68 cpu will be 78 if 69 then 79 etc, they boil eachother up if you havent changed anything besides undervolt -
I mean, looking at what's released so far, I suspect a 3060 would be fine in this machine. 3070 maybe based on the power draw.
I'm also hoping the 11th gen CPU's will work with a BIOS update and have better thermals. -

Anyone have any idea where the Chipset chip is located on this motherboard? Want to see if there is any way to make it slightly cooler.
-
Mine currently seems happy running at 4.9ghz all-core at 1.2v. -

Representatives of Sager, Xmg, Eurocom, Hasee and others do you have information about a new mxm 3000 series graphics card? Thx.
-
before anyone asks "When is Ampere going to happen in XMG laptops", let me just get this out of the way:
At the beginning of September NVIDIA introduced the RTX 3000 graphics cards (codenamed 'Ampere'). However, these are initially only graphics cards for desktop PCs. Related modules and cards for laptops have not been introduced yet.
It should be noted that the newly introduced desktop graphics cards have a higher power consumption (and therefore also heat emission) than their respective predecessors. For example the previous RTX 2080 Ti consumed only up to 250 watts, the successor model RTX 3080 is now rated for 320 watts.
Due to NDAs with our suppliers and partners we are not able to give any estimates as to when potential successor modules are going to be available. Thank you for your kind understanding.
Thank you, xièxie and bye bye!

I talked to HID and they said the screen curve bend is normal none of the computers sit flush
-
I'd gladly pay $$ for them to update my BIOS

that’s still pretty good
also can you check your computer screen lid to see if it’s bent and close the lid to see if the computer lid sits flush with the bottom of the computer I would like to know if this is normal or the bend is a defect I would appreciate it thank you see if yours look something like this when closedAttached Files:

If yours doesn’t have it I’m gonna send your video to HID and tell them that someone else who has the same computer send me this video and the bend is not normal -

yes yours looks more normal it has the gap which I guess that’s normal for it but the lid doesn’t move much when you squeeze it
like on mine it moves a lot more especially in the middle of the computer -

Do you have lots of light bleed on the corners of the LCD?

That’s unfort

Also are your fans making any high pitch buzz or whine noises ? Let me know please thank you -
you paid a ton of money and they are giving you the talkaround in order to not have a return, the fact is it showed up banged up as all hell, just tell them it’s comming back and you want a replacement. Also tell them nothing about this is acceptable and you want compensation for them lieing and saying a flat panel should bend, that pure bs. -
2 things
*Their entire batch/charge could be broken
*They are faking it -
-
Sent mine back for a refund.
Was pointless to keep it considering that
1) it had ghosting issue (which was even acknowledged by my reseller) but no actual fix (yet)
2) for the same price I will be able to get almost double the performance with the Rtx 3080. I expect this to happen in 2021 q1, however waiting a few more extra months is better than to fork out a ton of money and then have buyers remorse after a few months when people get double the performance for the same money.
Hopefully this laptop will be a good beta test for Clevo and the updated version of the x170 will have these issues sorted out . -
-
Yea I might just return it your right it is a very expensive laptop and it’s not worth the hassle if they not gonna fix the problem -
-
As for the 3080 in laptops, I really wouldn’t expect anything major till middle of next year. Manufacturing took a major hit with covid and the desktop cards will be in short supply until after Christmas, hence the staggered release. We could see them feb-March of next year, but that’s very hopeful. -
Not even the x170 was delayed due to covid.
In matter of fact life is starting to get back to normal in China and production and most of the design work is made in China.
Europe and the US is much more affected now due to covid however even in the EU and US covid mostly affects travellers due to traveling restrictions.
At least in my country no major delays in shipments as of yet because transit corridors are kept open.
Rumors even stayed that 3xxx series will be introduced in late autumn however Nvidia was able to keep their old release window and was able to release the new cards in September, like they did with the 2xxx series.
Don't forget that mobile 2xxx cards came 4 months later in January.
I believe Nvidia will be able to keep this date too, unless covid causes a zombie apocalypse or something.
Waiting 4 months is not a big deal if we consider that at least by then all the bugs will be fixed.
Remember that first gen 2xxx cards had space invaders bug due to bad Micron rams? Mobile users did not have to worry about this because when mobile cards were released it was worked out.
Designing an MXM board for a company like Clevo is not a big deal and does not even take a month, so if Clevo wanted they could have working units in October with a release window set to November.
However I don't think that this will happen and Nvidia will hold gpu supplies to at least January so they could fulfill the demands of desktop card manufacturers.
Mobile Super cards did not really give us a huge jump, I mean the Rtx 2080 super actually has the performance of an rtx 2080 with the same tdp.
For example :
Asus Chimera bga laptop with 200W rtx 2080
Fire Strike graphics points: 26200
Superposition 1080p extreme: 6800 points
Clevo x170 MXM laptop with 200w rtx 2080 Super
Fire Strike graphics points: 26500
Superposition 1080p extreme: 6650 points
Not many people would think that it worth the upgrade.
I believe that laptop manufacturers thought the same so the reason why there was such a huge delay between the desktop and laptop super cards is because laptop manufacturers did not think that it is worth to pay the extra cash for the super variant.
I think this changed because Nvidia was getting ready for the the new cards and wanted to clear all remaining stock, so they finally made the super chips available for laptop manufacturers for much less.
So I believe that the reason why laptop super cards came so late is not because of supply issues it is rather some kind of background corporate decision.
So I think that mobile rtx 3080 and 3070 will be introduced at the first week of January at ces 2021 with release date set to end of January.
I am not holding my breath for 3090 in laptops and I think that will be made desktop exclusive by Nvidia like the 2080 Ti.
But yes there is a chance that Nvidia will delay it until summer so they could clear out remaining stocks.Last edited: Sep 4, 2020 -

The 3080 would be the first greater than 256bit card if it retained the current memory bus.

Have you recievied your Alienware already? Local warranty is usually 2 years in most of Europe, so I wonder why Dell/Alienware has 1 year as their base warranty.
What configuration did you choose?
Did you find the price difference high between these two systems? -
