Does this mean an actual GA102 3080 Ti mobile? Because 3080 mobile is already full GA104.

I'm thinking Nvidia is going to do another super refresh series like with Turing.

I can’t see a single reason Nvidia should trow out a Super refresh (the mentioned GA102 3080 Ti mobile) for laptops already in may-june 2021. Ampere mobile is still not out for laptops as it is. And Nvidia need every single of the GA102 for their desktop cards. Huge shortage force them to prioritize the desktop cards. Gaming Notebooks can have the crippled 3080 cards. They will all sell in loads even if they perform lackluster vs same desktop SKUs.

You mean the full GA104 chips? @Papusan ? I mean down at 75w I don't think a GA102 would do much better. Might be worse and we end up with another GTX 480M situation.

NVIDIA already use the full GA 104 for 3080. Nothing more left in that chips for a 3080 Mobile Super card outside possible higher clocks due better bin and faster vram (I talk about 200W Max-P). And Nvidia will use same chips for all of those broken 3080 Mobile cards. So Won’t happen.

As a reminder. Nvidia pushed out 880M as a huge leap in performance over 780M :D A nice helping hand for the notebook manufacturers. They really needed something new to keep up the sales.

GU102 would probably lead to a new board design due to the higher memory width though and cutting it down to 256bit would likely start bringing in the full GA104 back on to the table both in performance and effiency.

Only God know how many times Nvidia have changed their mind how a possible 3080 Ti for desktops should be. They have went forward and backwards the last months.
Yeah. But still possible with proper engineeering. They have already maxed out the cores on GA 104 for mobile (6133). Not many options left for a Super. Nvidia have went back to mobile chips as you have seen. Maybe we will see 880M once again :D NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M

There are questions of if there will be a super or Ti series on the desktop just due to supply issues and lack of competition.

Maybe if AMD could pull a Mobile rabbit out from their hat. And this won't happen!

    Rumors and its from Wccftech.com

If this is halfway correct the only advantage will be PCIE-4 support. Will Clevo bother with an udated MB for the few months before we will see Alder lake, DDR5 and socket 1700 ? Or did they make good enough signal lanes in the current MB ? We will see within 4 months :)

I got my x170sm-g last Thursday. My old laptop (Asus N76v) has Windows 7 on it, so I hadn't used Windows 8 or 10. I've got to say that Windows 10 is the biggest pile of steaming **** I have ever seen. After 3 days I am starting to get a handle on it, with a lot of help from the Windows 10 Tweaks and Fixes thread on the forum, but it isn't anywhere near "fixed". It's a good thing I am retired, this is going to take a while.

Really depends, how much Intel are pushing it, what the power figures are like and costs.

Limited PCI-E 4.0 might also be an option with it in key areas.

Even as a younger member on these forums (late 90's kid here), I'd agree with your sentiment. The metro UI took some getting used to. If you don't want any of the extra crap that comes with the regular editions of Windows 10, give Windows 10 LTSC a try. You won't ever look back. I know I didn't.

In additon to removing all the stupid garbage, performance in CPU intensive games increases substantially. In my case, I got a 20 fps boost in Hitman (2016 reboot) on my current laptop in my signature. Your mileage will vary depending on the games you play and the software you use, but the performance gains were pretty noticable to me.

Damn I'm gonna have to look into this. I went with Pro, hopefully that's not an issue.

    The Legend himself!

You know the one thing I'm missing and really want to see added to these machines is the QHD 165hz displays. I saw Razer is pushing them on their new laptops. If we can get those it would be perfect in my eyes.

Loving mine from zTecpc. Prema mod and all the goodies from the great engineers in this forum.
I for one keep saying it, had access to a stock X170 (good machine) but on a similar spec one from zTecpc, and it blows the other one out of the water.

I am very pleased with mine. It is about perfect for what I want to do. Not to pleased with Windows 10, but that has nothing to do with the laptop itself. I figure 2 or 3 more days fooling with Windows 10 learning what I can, then a fresh install then tweaks ought to do it.

I'm most curious as to where the 3060 falls in comparison to not only the 1060 but the 1080. I expect the pricing to be somewhat sane (ish) for it.

Latest @Prema for the P870TM supports the 2000 series. Would be nice to grab a 3060, mod the VC, drop one in and mod drivers and be good to go.

More power efficient, some RT and DLSS along with competitive rasterization scores with the 1080 sounds like a win win.

I love it, however I am really annoyed with Eluktronics because they still aren't a Prema partner. I actually wrote them and threatened to return it because of it. Especially with the 3080s coming in a few months.

Everybody in the know wants to be a Prema partner. Doesn’t mean you just get to because you want to.

Eluktronics has expressed their desire to me personally for this as well.

Now I don’t know what sort of handshake agreement has to occur to make this happen and I think that’s ultimately the “issue“.

    How’s thermals on their X170?

I have a X170-SM-G from XMG in Germany. I am very happy with their customer service. I had a few issues with the laptop and the XMG customer and technical service was very helpful providing assistance very quickly. And I am very happy with the laptop, runs like a beast. The only thing I am not happy about is Win10Pro. Maybe at some point I will try Win10 LTSC as well.

I also wish I had access to the Prema Bioss. XMG confirmed that they have been expressing interest to become Prema partner, but "they haven't got a firm response from Prema, yet". I hope Prema will respond and initiate business with XMG, as XMG is one of the most reputable sellers in Europe (probably even THE most reputable seller in Europe).

I hope they redo those tests with final, optimized drivers. Those alpha/beta drivers seem to be not working correctly...check out the FS score...3070 beats 3080, that does not seem right.

    Hi guys,

which is the most current Bluetooth driver for the X170SM-G? I am having the Killer WIFI in my laptop, which I think includes the Bluetooth module as well? The Killer website mentions, however, to use the standard Intel Bluetooth driver.
At the moment I have Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) Version 21.90.2.1 installed via Windows Update. Is that the latest driver for the Bluetooth? Because I found another Intel Bluetooth driver "Version 22.20.0.3", but I am not sure if this driver is for my model, as I disabled Windows driver updates after initial Windows installation.

Here are my bluetooth hardware IDs:

For official X170 drivers, go here: https://www.sagernotebook.com/drivers.php?cat=767

Personally I don't think it's important to have the absolute latest drivers (to a degree of course). It's more important to have stable ones. If the one installed by windows update works well, I'd say don't touch it.

Have you been in the bed the last months? Or under a rock? I have posted a lot about the Ampere Mobile cards the last months. And most have been spot on. The recurring theme is the word "Castrated" and "Max-Q" in all shape and form. From my older posts....

Not in modern time we have seen such a mess. And be you sure. It will be damn disgusting! The Max-Q branding was a nice way to lure in more crippled SKUs at same price point for thin and slimy. And now we are here in 2021 with only Max-Q graphics who was intended for the tinnest Jokes :D

Nvidia cancels dedicated GeForce RTX 3000 Max-Q GPUs
