Most likely you could easily sell one of the 8's on the marketplace here. Those kind of parts go quickly...![]()

I was thinking something different. If two ppl established a trust relationship, they could split the 48GB. Unfortunately, our budgets are frozen for the year, otherwise, I'd be willing to look for another partner.

Yea we tested 8GB SODIMMS in the X7200, works great! Had a X7200 loaded up with 24GB RAM. =)
We have 4 SODIMMS right now for sale, and we will have full production quantities mid-october. -

Yes I think pretty soon these 8GB singles will be available...even with lower prices. By CES time anyway.

and a question for all:
What do you think about this case for ssd shopaddonics - Ruby ExDrive, eSATAp cable + USB 3.0 =?
I would use at home via esata and at work or with friends via usb 3.0.
Who thinks that? Can anyone suggest a better and a better alternative and thinner?
way off-topic: going to buy apple ipad2 64gb with 3g, tell me where you have the cheapest you can buy?

4GB Modules have dropped drastically lately to under $30/4GB. 8GB modules are getting allot more competitive now.

I was wondering guys, does anyone of you has a 6990m crossfire sstem? if so, could you post some benchs? Thanks in advance
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
I think if you look back in this thread a bit you may find some benches.

Benchmarks using clevo x7200 don't seem to be anywhere. If someone has this configuration, and is not bothered to post the results here, i would be much appreciated.

WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
When you choose Custom Installation there's options not to install unneeded parts like 3D Vision,NVIDIA Sound and NVIDIA Updating.
There's also a box to check that removes all of the previously installed driver which may help.
Have a copy of the working driver just in case the Custom Installation still doesn't help.
Also laptopvideo2go.com has a modded inf that is used to replace the one in the driver folder that has support for many more notebooks with driver 285.38.The 290.xx series is expected very soon.

I updated to the release version of the nvidia driver, and I updated to the new version of flash. I did not install the 3d parts of the driver. The flicker still happens, although it seems to be less often. -

M8s, who and how its memory clocked???
i have kingston 3x4gb 1866mhz..... -
So, I got a wild hair and am comtemplating something, tell me, if possible.
Currently I have this setup:
C: - Boot - SSD - SATA III
D: - Data - WD Scorp Blacks - RAID1 - SATA III
F: - Blue Ray Player - SATA II
What I would like to do is take out the Blue Ray player, replace it with a 3rd WD Scorp black and convert my Raid1 to a Raid5.
so it turns out like:
C: - Boot - SSD - SATA III
D: - Data - Wd Scorp Blacks - Raid5 - Mix of SATAIII and SATA II
F: - External Blue Ray Player
I would accomplish this by removing the Blue Ray player, and putting in a HD caddy to support the installation of a 3rd WD Scorpio Black.
So, the BIG question is can I Raid5 across SATA III and SATA II ? -
Is this for the x7200/NP7280? Are you planning on using the same model of Scorp? If so, then you might. But it is not a question of SATA II (3.0Gbps) or SATA III (6.0Gbps)
While you may have SATA III HDDs, the x7200 controller is only SATA II. So SATA II vs. III doesn't matter as everything is controlled by a SATA II controller. What matters is the x7200's controller for the optical drive. I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure I've seen specs/comments the optical drive is just a fourth connection to the same controller. You could always disassemble to verify this.
If that is indeed the case, the real question is does the RAID BIOS have some rigged setting where it only shows ports 1-3, or if you connect a HDD for port 4, does that drive also show in the RAID BIOS configurator? My guess is the RAID BIOS configuration *would* detect a HDD on port 4, so you might be good to <strike>do</strike> go. Also note, no only would this give you RAID-5 w/ a 4th disk, but you could also try RAID 10 if you so dared! -
-
So, I ordered the caddy, I guess only TRUE way to see is to try it, already had the disk.....
Just a thought, I wonder how a 4th hard drive will effect heat and such....
Think I will pass on the Raid10, although it looks interesting. I may call Sager Monday with some questions...
Back in stock if anyone is interested:

and I dont feel that bad about buying 3 from them. I can get 3 from them at $629.97.
Regarding the newegg ones, I do like the idea proposed earlier, 2 poeple who trust each other make a deal, one person buys 2X 8G sticks and one person buys 4X 8G sticks, with a pre-arranged agreement to sell one to the other....
But without a pre-arrangement, I dont think wanna risk $200(ish)
woot for not having to resotore a image.
Maby if I get REAL gutsy I will try a raid10, RST says its fully capable. ONly think holding me back is I would need to reinstall everything, where as going from Raid1 on data disks to Raid5 was a migration, wonder how long this will take....
Also a side note, I called both XoticPC and Sager, and they both said it was not capable to raid the drive in the caddy....guess need to call them back and mention it works just fine.
Here is a screenie of my new setup
will post some benchis soon as I initialize it.Attached Files:

Awesome!
I was pretty certain it could be done as the Eurocom Panther (which is based on the x7200) has been shipping this configuration for about a year. I just didn't know if they had any specialized components which we didn't have as a barebones x7200 or NP7280. Apparently they do not.
Thanks for your research, Mr. Guinea Pig!+1 rep!!
-
Yea I took a risk buying the caddy when both Xotic and Sager said it couldent...but I knew Eurocom was. I sent a email to Eurocom asking about it but never recieved a reply. Its funny though, even Sager said it wasnt posible when I called them.
I sent a email to them a few mins ago with a screen shot.
Think I am not gonna persue the raid10. It would require a reinstall and dont wanna deal with that, plus raid5 makes things a lot more flexible with my images.
On aneother note....interested in working a deal out for some 8G mem chips ? -
-
AHHHHHHHHH..........only 58% initialised....could it go slower ?
-
Gotta give it time. Computing those parity bits for the third disk w/ out a true RAID card for XOR acceleration is going to take a long time on GB and GB of data.

OK some random thoughts here, feedback would be nice:
Currently I am setup like this:
c: - SSD - Boot drive - 256GB
d: - 3X WD Scorpio Blacks in a raid5 1.3TB
So I have pretty good protection for D drive with the raid5, speeds on the d: drive are ok, reads are very good, writes are ok
On C drive I have 0 protection and boot speed is insane.
So, I COULD do this setup:
c: - 4X WD Scorpio Black in raid10 - 1.3TB
Pros's:
Great protection for boot/data, speeds reads will be insane fast writes also very fast.
Cons:
Will takke a full reinstall of everything.
OK am I missing something here ? Raid10 souonds like the way to go...am I missing a downside ?
