Can't you force it to install 480m driver through device manager?

    偏偏筆電換顯卡就是比桌機難很多......既然連硬件層面的ID都變了,那筆電主BIOS呼應支持這張DIY的卡就更難了 :(

That's what you do not have enough of the power supply, connect the second and would be "happy"

I feel bad about this...looks like it may be Friday eve or Saturday before I can do a pic...

They seem to work well. I have at least an external HD pluged into it. I have not put it to the test of pluging a lot into it. Wow, you may get to take a pic of it with the x7200 before I do.

What graphics drivers are you guys running that will work for the 480m SLI, I'm running 265.77 right now and having issues playing the new Red Orchestra game, the game keeps crashing / locking up the whole system.... Just updated my Realtek drivers to R265, I'll see if that helps any as well.

Is there any way to change the fan speeds at Idle on this beast? I Just set up my Cryo pad, and still my CPU idle temps are between 58-60C. I would at least like 50C.

The latest bios and firmware addresses when the fans go on and at what temp. Ask your reseller for the latest bios. This could do the trick. :)

    Clevo - 1.00.12/EC 1.00.07
    Sager - 1.01.12/EC 1.00.07SA3

(See link in sig for downloads)

    Can you confirm this?

I just checked my BIOS. Its the latest version already. My fans were set to "AUTO" in the BIOS settings. I switched it to "Full On" and my idle temps went down a full 10C to between 48-50C. Its loud, but my question is, should I leave them running full power constantly? I'm sure the fan life would be a lot less, but might the CPU life increase be worth it? Is there any software out there I can use on this thing, to modify the fan settings outside of the BIOS?

The NZXT CRYO LX laptop cooling pad.

Is it safe to overclock the 560m? I have 2 of them running in SLI. If so what settings should I use in "NVIDIA INSPECTOR"? My set-up is the following:

    i7 960
    Dual 560m's SLI
    6gbs 1333hz memory
    Seagate momentus xt hybrid
    Windows 7 HP
    Dual 32in Monitors at 1920x1080p

I ran 3dmark vantage and scored 16579. That's as high as I could get it without messing with the default settings. Is that a normal score for my set-up?

I strongly recomended 4 all who benching or using stress-test do ENABLE T-STATE in mod bios v.12
    especially for:
    1) Intel Linpack ( LinX )
    2) Intel stress-test in XTU
    3) may be AIDA64

There is an overclocking thread somwhere on this forum. I put my cpu @ 0.9v with Turbo Boost disabled. Temp is always 38-42 when idle. IIRC Charack was able to overclock to 3.6GHz with the 0.9v.

Sorry for the delay. The pics below should show that this coolmaster does have enough lift, especially toward the back end to give good air flow.

Probably just was brought to light how impractical it is. I am guessing reliability was also a huge problem given the complexity of that system and the cuts to quality they probably would have to make to meet a reasonable price envelope (even like $150 would be hard)

Kinda off topic, but it has to do with a Sager so ...why not. Whats the consensus about having pagefile on the SSD ? I am kinda torn here, there is some serious contradictory info out there...

In regards to the virtual memory manager's pagefile, it's on my SSD. This comes from a MS recommendation.

(read more if you're interested) - Support and Q&A for Solid-State Drives - Engineering Windows 7 - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

Also, my config is slightly different, I created a 25 GB partition and set the swap file there, leaving the OS partition on the rest of my SSD. In regards to the SSD / performance, this partition really makes no difference one way or the other. This was just carry-over of how I used to config my Linux systems for swap partitions.

One other thing to consider is your x7200 "downtime" usage. I turned off hibernation to get some SSD space back, as I never use hibernation - my x7200 is either on or off. That freed up some more space on the SSD.

    HTH

Thats kinda what I thought, my page is on my SSD also. As for that article, yea I had read that but there is so much contradiction on the net......go figure :) As for hibernation, I would turn it off, but TBH I have a 256GB SSD so space isnt a issue, all thats on there is the OS and page file, all apps are on the D raid.

I also made my Pagefile a static size, that way minimises growing/shrinking. So you have a 25G Pagefile ?

If you have enough RAM (and 12+GB is definitely more than enough), you may find it useful to shrink the page file. I have my P150HM set to a page file size of 800MB-1000MB (max) as 16GB of RAM means the page file is rarely used. You should keep at least some page file as a way to save dumps in case of crashes (Windows will prompt you when try to set it too low).

Myself, my page file is 18G. 1.5 * ammount of RAM, and TBH, I am barely useing 25% of my SSD (including the Pagefile), so its not really hurting anything that size. And again, its static size, not dynamic

You make this reccomendation based on what ? Having hibernate file on causes no problems, and turningit off would give me no benefit. Also turning off page file WILL cause issues with some of the ways I use my system...

Without knowing the specifics of how someone uses their system, I think a blanket reccomendation like that is dangerous.

    sry im forgot this....
    and...
I was just impressed by the cooling device IDF :)
By the way tried on an ideal surface to work well, the only thing bad if small bumps that start with the air intake problem ((((

I head the IT department, and make conclusions based on personal experiences make its recommendations, in fact hibernation useless stuff, is a significant space and sense minimal (especially critical for ssd). You disable hibernation, but do not lose sleep, so you can safely disable. As for the swap file, here you can easily make it equal to zero, although there is a likelihood that portion, but it is so insignificant, that some applications may have a conflict that it can be neglected (on his personal experience with those I come across). And if there are conflicts with applications that can make the paging file to 1024MB, but the more it makes no sense.

Space is a non issue for me on the SSD, I have a 256GB SSD, and have used less than 40% of it. As for hibernation, I actually use that when I transport the system instead of sleep, where sleep keeps the system in a minimal powered on state (thus generating heat, thats a bad thing in a confined space like a carying case, hibernation dumps completely to the file and powers down, no heat and almost as fast boot up)

Again, space is a non issue, so having a Page file hurts nothing, as a matter of fact, there are programs that use it, also I run up to 4VM's at a time sometimes, so a pagefile is needed. While I have optomnized vmware workstation to run most of the VM's in memory space, that only works for 2 VM's, when I need 3 or 4, I need that page space.

Also, in case a full mem dump is needed, a 1G pagefile will not be even close to enough.

Of the 213GB available on my SSD (I guess 20% must be provisioned by the drive), I'm down to 150GB free. My point here is that if you are not going to be hibernating w/ the x7200, why not just reclaim the space? If you do hibernate, then by all means, keep it enabled. FWIW, with the C300 I have in here, boot times are about 15 - 17 seconds, so I don't mind shutting down each time.

The partition is 25GB, but I let the VMM have the whole drive (and it manages the size - but should theoretically max out Virtual memory at 37GB, the 25GB + 12GB RAM). Running 2 instances of SQL Server, Visual Studio 2008/2010, and multiple VMs, the pagefile.sys file size is just a bit over 19 GB.

Actually, I keep looking at those 8GB chips and wondering about 24GB in this machine. I'm not yet at the point where I run that many VMs with large databases that this is a necessity, but who knows in the next 12-18 months.

Hey, has anyone loaded new nvidia driver version 280.26, and have issues? I loaded it, and my screen flickers now (everytime I scroll or something like that). I have a 480M. Think I'll go back to the version on Sager site.
