I'm dying to know that too. Also single 680m runs fine?

Still waiting to hear about 680M SLI in the x7200 as I need to decide what I'm going to do with the laptop I have laying around.

Ive been talking to Eurocom and it seems to be lack of support in the bios that causes the sli issue.

Odd question everyone; I'm back to my NP7280 after selling my NP8130. After a reformat and install of Windows 7, my wireless card, Intel 6300, is deactivated upon startup.

Not horrible, but certainly an inconvenience as numerous bits of software try to access the internet immediately and cannot. Any idea what setting could be wrong?

    They need drivers to function.

I would download the drivers from your resellers website or just sagers or the manufactures website and put the install files on a USB, and then plug them into your NP7280

I had installed the drivers with no luck, and thought I had restarted in between. Regardless, after leaving Windows Update to run for a few hours, it seems to be running fine now. Thanks!

One more question...does anyone know of a conclusive list of the types of screens these came with, and how to identify them? Were there different gamut levels and such?

Are we saying that a single 680M works in the 7200 but SLI does not?

I have 480M SLI and is sounds like I will get better performance from 1 680M than I will get from my SLI 480M.

7970s seem not to be an option at this point due to Enduro problems.

Yes but you will need a modified driver for the singel 680m.
For now Eurocom is working on getting the sli fully supported in the panther 2.0, I dont know if there will be support for the clevo x7200.
And yes you will definitely get better performance with a singel 680m.

I just ordered 680m sli myself and crossing my fingers that they will get it fixt. And I will be able to do som testing myself.

Amd 7970m i've heard terrible things about driver support and power consuming, so I think I will steer away from that card.

sorry about bad english ( from norway :p)

You are welcome.. not that I did any good :p

Use a program called HWiNFO64 it should provide the name of your screen and much much more. Regarding the different screens... I cannot recall any but you could probably find a thread about it here somewhere :)
    - good luck!

Of all the posts I can recall, it seems the Hannstar LCD was used the most. For example, I'm showing HSD173PUW1.

My input signal is "Digital", the Display Type is "RGB color" and the Gamma factor is "2.20"

Thanks! I see the same; it would appear to me that there is just the one option for the screen, the glossy Hannstar you and I have. Still curious if there were matte options or higher gamut options when purchased new, as I came into this unit used.

    Hi Myrsprett,

please let us know any news on the GTX 680m SLI... would love to upgrade, but not just one card, because that performance would be pretty much the same as my GTX 485m SLI...

Does anybode know what can cause that problems - that SLI can´t be activated? Is that really a BIOS issue or does it need another modded driver....?
Maybe someone with BIOS-mods experience can help out? :D

    Hi all,

I have searched this thread and cannot find much on this issue but i anyway here goes!

I bought an X7200 from Kobalt Computers back in late 2010 before the company went bust. All was fine with the laptop (i7 950 CPU, SLI 485m's and so on) but over the past few months whenever I play Skyrim at some point in the game, the screen will freeze and go black, sometimes recover and i can keep playing or else it will hard lock and i will have to reset the computer (ctrl-alt-del does nothing). On the occasions it recovers, the event viewer gives the following message: 'display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered'. It has happened only once when using Firefox and when i turned SLI off and played Skyrim it seemed to fix it.

I tried a few other games and cannot replicate the problem to a satisfactory level. The web says it could be a number of issues ranging from power consumption to bad drivers but I reformatted my computer, installed the latest drivers etc. and nothing seems to fix it.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Driver crashing issues may be difficult to track down.

Have you done any research on settings or if something with SLI will crash the driver during SkyRim?

Hi Jclausius, thanks for the reply. I have tried multiple settings in Skyrim but no joy. Turning off SLI seems to fix it but the problem is so random I cannot be sure it is not just luck!

Hm, I played Skyrim a few times - with no problems, but since I am not a "heavy" Skyrim Player I cannot say for sure that it would never happen here.
What are about your temps? Maybe one card runs too hot?
One thing you could try is to swap the two graphic cards and see what happens... a repaste job could be good, anyway.

I know that´s in german, but One.de did it and installed the driver with the help from the following posts by SFVogt and La.ultima...

    Maybe this will help?

    Thanks.

After some research and crying :p, I decided to reinstall from windows 8 to windows 7 and and see if that got anything to do with it.
AND IT DID. After installing all updates to windows 7 I modded the inf file to the 306.23 nvidia driver the installing went successfully.
But as I thougth there were no buttons to enable the SLI.
What is strange is that both gpus are recognized and I can even choose which of them I wanna use as Physx.

Any idea what to do? I know Eurocom is working to get this problem solved.

Maybe some modders know more about it?
The question is, where to start- is the SLI feature possible through a modded inf, or maybe through a BIOS mod? What "prevents" windows/ the nvidia driver to run SLI mode...?
Maybe you should start a new thread in the Sager/ Clevo forum, it´s possible that not that many people read about the problem here... :(.

Whad up? Just dropping in to say hello.

Just picked up an X7200, (Specs in sig) in trade for my M17x R2. RAM and Killer 1103 are also on the way. Trying to determine how I want my HDDs set up. Torn between a 2x160GB Intel X25-M RAID 0 setup, + Samsung 256GB Gaming SSD, + 1TB Storage drive. It will either be that setup, or 1 160GB OS Drive, 1 160GB SSD Gaming drive, 2x1TB HDDs for storage.

Also if the 680M SLI works out, I'll likely keep this system a while and upgrade that route. This system will be excellent for F@h :D

    Congrats on the trade.
The X7200 has 3 slots for drives and 1 Optical Bay for the BluRay/DVD drive which can also be used as a 4rth HDD Slot. So in both, the 3 SSDs and 1 HDD OR 2 SSDs 2 HDDs will require you to get rid of the intern BluRay Burner.
To be honest I would not put two small SSDs in RAID0. This is for two reasons: Firstly SSDs gain quite a bit of performance (read/write speed) when they're bigger. Secondly if 1 of your two SSDs fail, you're screwed. And considering you have 2 small SSDs in RAID0 they would be probably being written on more than 75% of their capacity (stressed) a lot.

I would put the biggest SSD as your OS drive, on which you also install your most important and demanding games. Use 1 smaller SSD for the less demanding games, for example drop the steam folder on it. And in the third HDD slot put your 1TB HDD for storage. If you are really desperate for space, you can still use the optical bay as a 4rth slot, but I wouldn't give up my BluRay drive for this :D

I actually have a ODD caddy since my M17x I had two SSDs. The reason I don't want to use the 256GB SSD as the OS drive is because its a samsung PM800, which if memory serves me, I have the same drive in my M11x and it isn't quite as fast as the Intel X25-M. But your right. SSDs are fast enough and don't need to be in RAID 0. I have a 3TB drive that I do a lot of backup images on. But more storage is alwasy good. So probably 2x160GB SSDs plus 2x 1TB. I convert the blu-ray to external since my laptop always sits on the desk. M11x is for portability, and I have a blu-ray player for movies. The burner can be external since I only use it for burning. I have two external optical drives. :p

Definatlely cant wait to play with it. :D

Hey guys, quick question. I just got the X7200 in my sig. When I try starting it with all my peripherals (External HDD, USB Hub, Printer, mouse, ect.) The system doesn't want to start. I have to unplug the USB stuff in order to get past the bios screen. Anyone have any experience with this??

Is your BIOS set to boot from a USB drive as the first boot priority. If so it could be getting hung up as its try to from one of your peripherals. Get into the BIOS and tell it to boot from the hard drive or optical drive first.

Thanks for the reply. The system is set to boot from the SSD first. I just wiped everything and will check if the problem persists.

On another note, I have been having some stability issues which seems to be pointing to the CPU. The system will BSOD at stock clocks while running Folding@home, or even Acronis True Image while trying to create a large (400GB) image file.

I've been looking in the bios and have some overclocking options. I thought the X7200 didn't allow for overclocking? Some of the options don't seem to do anything, like CPU voltage. I haven't noticed this working. However there is a FSB Override, and that seems to work for overclocking the CPU. But without voltage adjustment, I can't get it stable.

Anyway anyone have ideas? Is the bios an unlocked bios flashed by the previous user? Anyone know what may be causing the stability issues? Anyone with an x7200 and 980x have experience with this?? It's driving me nuts.

A friend of mine has to unplug his mouse every time when he boots his PC up, because of the same reasons as yours. He found no fix for that yet.

Logitech Performance MX mouse. But it seems to be my USB Hub that causes the issue. I unplug the hub, and it boots. So I restarted and unpluged each item from the hub. Each failed to boot. But overall if the hub isn't plugged in it works. Not sure if it's a USB Hub issue, of what. May have to do more testing. Till then I just have to unplug it :(

For that issue, it's not just you. Or the x7200. I've seen that issue on various computers using various USB devices with various BIOS for years. It seems completely random.

Thanks. I'll have to do some research. Been trying to pinpoint the source, see if there is any one device that causes it but so far have been unsuccessful. I'm at work right now so I can't test, but maybe if I move the USB hub to the USB 3.0 slot, a slot that doesn't have power running through it immediately at boot. I think only the USB 2.0 ports are active at that time. I'll have to continue testing tonight.

Thanks, will report back tonight hopefully.

Also, do you have a single 680M, or dual 680Ms in your X7200?

Also have you found a stable overclock with decent temps for the 980X? I have the unlocked bios, and I've upped the flex and voltage a little, and used the FSB override set to 7, (140MHz FSB). Seems stable. Do you use yours at stock settings or with any overclock?

Currently a single 680M. SLI is still a bit bugged but both some users and Eurocom are working on a BIOS fix.

I use mine at stock as it's perfectly fine and sufficiant for what I am currently doing. Skyrim would definately improve quite a bit if I overclocked it, but I'm fine with 50-55 fps in that singleplayer game anyway :D

Nice, I'm trying to see what I need to do to get my chip to run Folding@home stable at stock clocks with the least amount of heat. Going to be testing that for a while. At some point I need to install some games. I also need to see if I have the latest drivers. I doubt it. :D

With a single 680M, do you get normal fan usage, or are the fans stuck at 100% ? I've noticed HWInfo64 doesn't give me the option for manual fan control like I had in my AMD based M17x R2. Is there a way for manual fan control?

My GPU fan is at Auto, I can't seem to edit the profile manually in Afterburner or nvidiaInspector, it's simply greyed out. I didn't discover how to change that yet.
But also, there is no need to. I am not sure how the current auto profile is set, but all I know from observations is that max fan starts when the GPU reaches 76°C. Then it cools the GPU down to 74° and waits until it reaches 76° again :p Running like that rock stable on my current 24/7 OC of 919/2250.

Sirana, just curious if you use one or two power bricks with your setup?

One 300W. It was sufficiant for two 6970M's and is more than plenty for a single 680M.

I'm trying to figure out why I'm having so many stability issues on my X7200. Has anyone else with a 980x or hex core had stability issues? I stayed up till 3am trying to figure it out. Each dump file refers to a different driver causing the BSOD.

Right now I'm doing a fresh Win 7 Pro Installation. I plan to stress test the CPU for a few hours after each time I install anything. This will take forever.

I'm Hoping its not hardware related. If it is it may show up when I stress test after the new installation before I install anything. That's my hope anyhow. Looking for some suggestions, or if anyone has had similar issues, I'd love to hear about it.

What test should I be running? I plan to run armory test and CPU stability rest, maybe furmark as well.

    Thanks,

I have a 980x CPU and have no stability issues. Most of my minimal problems have been realted to NVIDIA driver crashes.

    My x7200 is very stable.

I have a 980X too and I'm not experiencing any stability issues. Try checking if there is a program that is misbehaving. I installed Acronis and it added some right click entries, it made my computer hang to a point that I almost reinstalled windows.

I have Acronis 2012 and no problems.

Your best bet is to start from scratch and install things one at at time to see if they are causing the issues.

There is always the possibility that a 2 year old machine is starting to have hardware issues.
