I'm in the same boat as you. I am a cinematographer/editor/blahblahblah needing a mobile workstation to move around from 3 different cities for editing. I also was using the HP mobile workstation but was finding it to be quite lacking. I just ordered from xoticpc but went with the 1x480M which was the recommendation over on the adobe forums as the software cannot take advantage of SLI. I'm also a little nervous about the support and some of the problems I have been reading on here. Hopefully it will be worry free for the both of us.

    @Speedy,

Congrats, Bro! Awesome comeback! Do you notice any difference in normal fan noise compared to your previous system?

Whew, I had a headache earlier. Tried to follow the instructions and couldnt get the ISO file to burn. So I tried again after work to realize my wife's laptop doesnt have burn capabilities...(Dell 630 I think). So was forced to load up Vista 64x :( so I can at least see DaBeast in action. 6 hours of my life passed fickling with the drivers...so worked...some said this OS does not support that operation or something. Got most done except couldnt get the wireless to turn on with Function key or touch key. Well, hooked up to Internet and think some drivers installed and updates and now Wifi works!! :) Should I try that legal download on this laptop or just wait a couple more days for my Win7 upgrade copy to arrive? I want to clean Vista completely off my system either way.

lost of tricks people can pull...it's kind of why when we would run test...we would test for all the glitches. :D
because there were allot of people trying to pass them off as valid runs...along with , blinking screens and blank screens...lol

    OMG!!

This bag needs to be at least an inch wider. 7280 has a really snug fit but the bag will scratch the top. I am using the shipping plastic in conjunction with the bag until I can find a suitable replacement.

Yes the free basic bag that comes with the NP7280-x7200 is for a regular sized 17' laptop not the NP7280-x7200. All who order this system will need to find another bag. Also there is a thread about this HERE... :)

AFAIK, only extreme processors (965,975 and 980X) have QPI of 6.4 GT/s

HI wraptor, good to hear from you.

I heard the same about Premiere Pro not using SLI. I just hope SLI doesn't cause a problem. I also read the Adobe Mercury Playback Engine doesn't get faster results from better cards over a certain point. I think both the 460 and 480 are above that point. I got in on a sale at XoticPC where the dual 460s were the same price as a system with only one. So I said "why not?" I figure if the SLI config causes me problems, I'll pull one of the 460s out and won't have lost anything. If Adobe ever gets around to supporting SLI, then I'm ready to go!

^^ No need to pull the card out, just disable SLI in Nvidia Control Panel.

This is correct. Higher end Xeons also have 6.4 GT/s. Higher is not necessarily good though as it has been shown that lowering to 4.8 does not hurt performance but does enable better overclocking since less stress on the components

I hope to try that benchmark too. I thought about going with a single 480m, but decided to try and save some money and heat with the 460m. Then, when I configured the system, I noticed they had a sale on the 7280-s1 which is about the same amount off as it costs to add a 2nd 460m. I think the deal is still going.

I ordered Friday, when did you place yours?

I know i made a good choice picking up 950 and 460m sli.
Ordered on 24th november, hopefuly it will arrive this week, maybe in time with the new nvidia driver.

What are the opinions regarding the driver that should be used for 460m sli ?

Is that 265.xx form laptopvideo2go the best choice for now ?

he can do it from a flash drive...
all he has to do is format the drive, extract all files and copy the files over to the flash drive.
remove the ei.cfg file so it shows all os for that class (32 bit or 64 bit - depending on what he downloaded)
and he should technically be fine, plus it will load faster.. :)
    side note:
some of what you posted in your link...i see...lol

I am very happy with this laptop and i know you will be too so enjoy!

So why did you all switch to this driver in the first place? The stock driver doesn't work well? I don't remember anyone talking about it.
