i think the max stable core is 824MHZ  at stock voltages but with a little juice this cards can scream, the memory will go higher but i didn't focus on that because the performance gain is not substantial this run is with PhysX off that's why the CPU score is not inflated

After I loaded Vista onto my 7280, I was able to redo the instructions without a hitch. I loaded Win7 Ultimate and she runs beautfully. I've only loaded the basic disc drivers and the routine Windows updates. I guess I'll have to review which updated drivers I need to get some time this week.

LMAO!! Speedy now that you mention it, it never crossed my mind as I had already wasted 6 hours of my life trying to create it on my wife's laptop. I was sleep deprived after working a graveshift and forced to load Vista just to use my laptop. That simple thinking was clouded but it all worked out. Created the disc with no hiccups and here I respond using my new friend! :)

I was having crashes in Blood Bowl Legendary and Fallout New Vegas that seemed to increase in frequency with the stock drivers. Also having problems with video in Media Player.

I switched to 263.09 and it is much more stable.

    Hy Guys,

what would be your tip to boost my systemspeed?

    X7200
    I7 920 SLBEJ D0-Stepping
    GTX 480M (Singel!)
    OCZ DDR3-SODIMM 1333mhz @ 1066mhz
    2x 500gb 7.200rpm seagate RAID0

at the moment i try to find a way to use the whole potential of my RAM but I don't want to rise my FSB. Is it usefull to reduce the latence from 9-9-9-24 to 7-7-7-16 ?

    Should I tune my GPU?

    THX a lot!

First of all, upgrading from the i7 920 to the 950 would be a very cheap and worth it upgrade. 2nd, Instead of a single GTX 480M, get two GTX 460M. The performance is much better and its even cheaper than a single 480, their very expensive for their performance. You say your RAM is 1333mhz @ 1066mhz... that doesn't make sense. I hope your getting 1333mhz, and as for the timing I'm not so sure if it can be easily changed. Cas latency of 9 for DDR3 isn't bad at all, DDR3 runs at a different scale than ddr2/ddr so if your worried that 9 is high, it really isn't. 6gb is more than enough to play games on but 12gb doesn't cost to much more in my opinion, it's more future proofing is all. If your not getting an SSD and 2 HDDs instead, I would recommend getting two Seagate Momentous XTs, their a 500gb 7200rpm HDD with hybrid 4gb SSD each, their the quickest 2.5" HDDs.

Now that the x7200 - NP7280 has been out for a while, has anyone tried Linux on it? If so where did you find good drivers? If I missed the post on this, sorry. Thanks... :)

Linux is a bit behind in terms of video drivers, you can try the officially available drivers from Nvidia but I won't hold my breath for great stability and performance. The first thing I noticed was more stress on the fans and poor SLI support. :(

So resellers are completing dropping the GTX 480m for the GTX 470m lol, nice

Now we just have to see how it performs....still $300 more per card compared to the GTX 460m

Yes most US resellers are dropping the 480M for system orders...but I am sure if you wanted the card itself you are going to find it around for a while.

Yes, the 470M is not cheap...

GF104 should be alot more efficient than the GF100 in the 480m as well. GF104 is what powers the GTX 460 desktop card that is a stellar performer for the price

So how does dual 460M compare to a single desktop 460? I remember speedy saying 460M sli is somewhat close to a stock desktop 480? That's with overclock right?

When TomsHardware did their review of the GTX 480m SLI they found it to be a little weaker than desktop GTS 450 SLI which is pathetic.....if you want to stay happy do not compare to desktop parts lol

the 470m sli is still fairly pricey though. about 800 bones for the upgrade, 600 more than the 460m sli. worth it?

Desktops are boring you can trow any game at max settings and it would play perfect but when it comes to laptops is more challenging because sometimes you have to tweak the settings and get better drivers to play the game ;)

i have a desktop with two 480's and is seat there doing nothing because i like to relax on my bed with the laptop and that is not going to happen with the desktop my back start hurting after i seat for an hour on that chair lol :D

if the card performs the same or better than the 480m and turns to be what the 480m should be is worth it but from the value standpoint the 460m still the winner since you can trow any game out there and play at decent settings if not at max

don't get me wrong would be nice to have 470m's for the price of 460's :D

    Hello guys ....
i spend a lot of hours gaming on this machine without any
issues... but then i would just be browsing or looking at some photos or just those ordinary small tasks and the screen would go blue or white ( depends oN its mood ) then turns all black and i cant do anything unless I force a shutdown by pressing the power buttom..machine starts normally after that.

HAVE ANYONE HAD THIS ISSUE AT ALL ???

i got the machine with 6gb of ram but only ( 3.99gb ) usable i cant figure out why , i have installed win 7 ultimate 64-bit ! a guy at sagernotebook told me that MAYBE the ram is out of its place so i OPENED the machine and checked that and it didnt work..then tried
switching the ram n tested the laptop with all possible way ( cuz MAYBE one of the ram sticks isnt working ) still without success ...
the bios screen shows 4gb or ram.
i tried using msconfig, boot, advances setting, then checking max mem .still didnt work ...

HAVE ANYONE HAD THIS ISSUE WITH THE SAGER 7280 ?

a guy at powernotebook told me 2 uninstall the usb 3.0 as it appears 2 be
the problem with blue screens so i did that and now i have blue and white screens looool ( well am laughing out of anger )
ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED

    Sager 7280 , i7-950 , 6.00gb , 460m sli , 80gb ssd , 1,000gb(500x2) , intel ultimate wireless 6300 ....

pull off the rams and just put one on the first slot then power the machine on test it and do the same with the other two sticks that way you know if you have bad ram or a bad motherboard ram slot

So are the 480s are being phased out by the 470s? I have placed my order with a single 480 but I still have time to change it to a 470 before it's built. Any advice on which to go with? What is the performance difference?

There still is a few 480M's, however yes the 480M's are being phased out and being replaced with the 470M's which are a little cheaper... :)

Yes, many are liking the 470M's because of the lower power draw and excellent performance...
