Nice, right there with a 485M SLi. Any other games you got?
-
3 Things:
1) Could you please provide a link to 55FPS average on NON-OCed cards?
2) Look at the minimum FPS
3) Take CPU into consideration: 0.3GHz can add 2-4FPS in Crysis
The more I look at BlackComb the more I like it
Maybe it's because I want it in my 8740w
-
Yeah the 6970s are looking mighty impressive ..
Congrats Tirenz
..
My next machine just might be the 8170 with a 6970 ..
Hope intel gets the SB issues fixed quickly(er)
...

Could be settings the developers didn't count on in your region / numbers settings. Assuming you're using German locale, it might be number formatting the control panel for regions -> additional settings >numbers might affect that in some way.
Just a wild guess. -
The CF vs. SLI battle marches on. We've seen Tirenz post a 20,000 3D mark, but earlier in this thread some ppl were posting 27K-28K scores.
So now, the Crysis bench is closer. Very close in high frames/sec and the bench shows a better "floor" for the ATI cards.
So, do you guys favor one test over another? Or do you run multiple benches w/ the other tests and take them in as a whole?
What about benching disks or CPUs?
Just curious. -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
just check Babyhemi scores and you right we don't even know stock 485m sli crysis run because the score posted by Hemi was 49 fps and that was over clocked so the 6970's are already faster than 485's in crysis
I need to get my hands in 2 of those monsters
-
Hmm, I thought that was a stock run he posted (Edit: n/m, that was from a lightly OC'd system so you were right).
BTW Tirenz, have you tried any overclocking on the cards? It seems that the voltage is the same as the reference desktop 6850, so I'm curious if it can run at those speeds (775mhz core, 1000mhz memory). -
Here is a question for ya all. If you say have 2 500G drives, you can raid them together in a raid0 situation and there one big 1TB drive, and writes and reads are spit between the 2 physical drives.
Now the 7280 has the option of Hybred drives, with a 4G ssd built in. Normally, this hybred drive is used as the boot drive, so as to optomise boot times with the 4G ssd, which, esentially is a big 4G cache, if I understand right.
Now assuming you raid0 2 of those hybred drives, how does the 4G ssd part interact then ? and what if you do as I did, order it with 3 of those drives raided together ?
Been trying to figure that out, and have come up with almost nothing. -

37 min FPS that is massive, the average is great, but the minimum is amazing. And 20 fps for the 485M, that is just wow. I am giddy right now, I really really hope that I can upgrade this 8690 with a 6970M, otherwise I'll have to settle with a 470M

Good Morning
.
Ok, here we have a Mafia 2 Bench, the settings and the result:
@ichime: I tried to OC with the "Amd overdrive" in Catalyst Control Center, I could go to 710/ 1000 - but I didn´t notice any major difference in the Benchmarks, slightly higher, but nothing that is worth posting so far. What is the "standard" OC programm you use? I used to OC nVidia Cards with nVidia inspector, and it´s a long time ago that I had a ATI card, so no experience

^^ Could it be that both SLI and CF isn't working properly in Mafia2?
Those are the scores that can be achieved with a single card. For example, a stock 470M SLI hits ~76FPS average -
Hm, run some Benches of Dirt 2, Just cause 2 and Lost Planet 2 but always get a black screenshot, so I have to look for a program that will allow me to take screenshots ingame. Will do that for my review.
Right now, here we go without any proofs
:
DiRt2: Everything maxed out,8 x MSAA:
avr: 64,9 FPS
Minimum: 60,0 FPS
Unigine Heaven 2.1, Standard Settings
FPS: 48.0

Strange. Will try with a single card this evening and we´ll see if there is a difference...

I researched this when I build my x7200 w/ two Seagate Momentus XT Hybrids with RAID-1. From what I've read, the 4GB SSD portion of the drive is basically READ-ONLY storage of the most accessed data stored on the drives. The most frequently read files eventually move into the SSD portion for faster access from storage to cache. On the flip side, writes still pass through to the disk platters.
Also remember, there's still a 32MB cache on the drive for performance between the drive (SSD or platter) and the controller.
So it wouldn't matter how a file is chopped up across 1, 2, or 3 disks. RAID-0 would just chop up the file across the disks participating in the raid volume. As each portion of the file is accessed / read, those chunks of each particular file would eventually end up stored in the SSD part of the drive.
I can't comment on performance as the config in my system is different.
Anyway, this all comes from what I've read, and someone can correct me if they know different. -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
@Tirenz would you run lost planet with this settings to compare with the 470's ?
http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...s-clevo-x7200-sager-np7280-6.html#post7020736 -
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Yes something like that I'm sure too. For one thing nVidia does not yet have a driver posted on their website for the 485M's. They only have up to the 470M's. The Clevo initial driver is the only one we have for the 485M's.
I think in a short time we will see these scores increase, especially if we get some REAL bencher's to do it...
__ -
Have you tried MSI Afterburner? Link:
Afterburner 2.0.0 Final download from Guru3D.com -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
@Hemi you are a real Bencher" with those super high scores we don't consider you as a reseller no more so when nvidia release new drivers we want you to eat those 6970's for lunch
on the other side why you guys don't stop all that fanaticism for AMD or Nvidia if at the end there is no real winner both are amazing at least that's what i think
-
I don't really see it as fanaticism, rather a healthy competition which is always good. If 6970M proves to be on par with 485M and costs half as much forcing Nvidia to lower the prices - everybody wins.
And when you have to explain your customers why on earth they need to pay 30-50% more for the same performance card - it really isn't pretty. I hope we get the AMD option in Clevo's and FAST. -
So I've noticed that every time I boot into it takes a bit for the wireless to connect to my router......any suggestions on how to make it connect faster? change the Windows program startup order somehow? New wireless drivers or something?
I have the Ultimate-N 6300 AGN -
what's the definition of "takes a bit?" from off to desktop i'm looking at around 20-25 sec. from login to desktop it's like 8-10 sec.
wifi is the last to settle, but it's not taking a minute or anything. it may not be your computer, it may be the router, have you tried with other computers? -
Babyhemi, I did notice that the driver is only on Clevo and not on nVidia, could explain why the scores are "invalid beacuse of an unauthorized driver" I can't wait to see what these babies can do once they are optimized from nVidia.
just to fuel the healthy competition between red and green, perhaps nVidia was waiting to see offical driver support from the 6970's and their potential before releasing offical 485 drivers.
I will say if the cost is as discounted as the forum says, these are an incredible value dollar/performance.
(but i'll still take my 485's.) but love your 6970's. (but love my 485's more) ROFL
-
Hi Speedy,
here we go:
Rang B
Average FPS: 56,3 (55.6/ 50.5/ 64.7) -
As I stated before, I wasn´t sure to try the 6970m CF, I wanted the GTX 485m because in the last years I only had nVidia and knew a little bit more about them than ATI cards- the last ATI card was the X1600 in my HP laptop and it worked well.
The point for me was
a) the price difference of 450 Euro (~600 Dollars!)!
b) it seemed that the CF solution should have no problem with any game as the GTX 485m for now, without OC, and that was the thought of "Ok, let´s try it".
We´ll see what new cards will come
... hopefully they will fit in the X7200 as well
.
-
Aren't you glad i didn't buy your laptop @ that time.
-
You'll not regret your purchase of that I'm sure
From what I already see, my next laptop will most likely sport 6970M
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
Thanks Tirenz your cards can pull 10 more frames in lost planet that means they are like 20% faster just on that DX11 game wow
Yes i am glad you didn't accept that super deal
I second that my next laptop most likely support Xfire 6970M and IPS panel
-
^ What happened to the 120hz screen? Was it compatible or it never shipped because of the recall?
I was broke that time and still had bills. It was a bad timing with you giving me that deal. -
You know... there's a big chance it's gonna be your X7200
The way I see it, by summer we'll have both the 1080p IPS panels and full support for the 6970M's
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
Dell cancel my order and i don't have no more interest in that machine at all that's why
if this machine supports IPS panels i don't know what Dell is going to do about that lol.
-
Tirenz, thanks for all your help exposing us to the benches and first look at the 6970 CF
they look awesome!
on a second note, can someone help me with the WiFi light on the x7200? i never noticed it until now, and i can't tune it out like the hard drive indicator light, but it's constant blinking is driving me crazy. streaming a movie from nextflix, i keep getting drawn to the blue strobe under my screen...
is there a way to set it to be solid blue like the camera and BT lights??? I looked under every setting and I can't find a setting, a control panel, a program, nothing to let me fix it. I don't think the touch sensetive panel is in the Bios, i'm sure I installed a program, but there has to be something I can do to amend this.
please say yes.
then show me how. lol -
They might start shoving desktop cpus on their alienware line.
-
Some one have news on the next X8100 ? I will sell my Alienware R2 tonight and wait this unite, I hope to see the announce soon.
I7 2920XM
CF ATI 6970 2GB
16GB 1600MHz Kingston Hyper X
Raid 5 WD Black 3*750GB
OCZ Vertex 2 60G in hard drive cady for remplace DVD reader -
So here are my last Benches for now. Will do some more on my review.
First of all the Mafia Benchmark with a single 6970m, it shows that the CF IS enabled in the test before...
Then I run the old 3DMark 06 and last but not least the NEW 3DMark 11.Attached Files:

Wait what? I think you posted in the wrong thread.
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
@Speedy, I ran the bench with the settings you said in the below link and this is what I got. I was not able to capture the screen, but the 2 times I did the bench it was basically the same score...

Tirenze, how many AC adapters did you get? Are you experiencing AC tripping problem as some users under heavy gaming with GTX 470M/480M/485M SLI?
Thank you in advance! -

What you guys think o.o? -
@Babehemi
Wow, that looks pretty amazing! Is that overclocked or at stock?
@AndrewK
I didn´t get a second PSU, til now I didn´t have any problems, but to tell the truth, I didn´t do any heavy gaming yet because I am busy installing new software, benchmark some more and so on; I DID play Crysis Warhead for about an hour and had no problems, though. I will report later when I finish testing and have more time to game
.
@Se4nH4x
Looks very good; I didn´t know there was a Benchmark Tool for Crysis Warhead, looks like a newer version than the tool I used. Where did you download it? And: What are your specs? -
Not bad even for OC'ed cards!
And this guy keeps telling us he's not a REAL bencher, lol
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Well I think as a reseller it would be dishonest of him to overclock and benchmark a machine heavily and then post it here as that would not be representative of what he is shipping. There is an ethical issue there afterall
-
Off the wall question, anyone know where I can get the 32bit drivers for the wired nic on this system ?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
If you use windows 7 the windows driver should work
-
Low tech solution -> black electrical tape. lol
Dunno what would happen with the touch panel drivers installed. -
I'm pretty sure Clevo and Sager both have a combo 32/64 bit driver download on both their sites for the x7200.
-
Thanks, my DR/Backup solution reequires 32bit nic drivers...WHS is weird that way.
-
I just ordered an NP7280
with the specs in my signature looking forward to receiving it asap.

to quote Yoda......
