Just saying that the 8130 cannot handle the 485m/6970m. Its not just a matter of using the 8150's power bricks. This laptop wasn't made to handle 100w GPU.

I got the updated intel wireless card because it supports bluetooth and there are good reviews about it; internet accessibility is pretty important to me.
And for me, the biggest attraction for the 8170 has to be the fact that it has two HDD bays...that was actually one of the prerequisites for my next laptop, but I compromised with the 8130. Of course, that and it's ability to support the 480M and the 6970M...oh and also it's amazing cooling capabilities.
I convinced myself that yes, the 8130 will and should be able to support the 485M with the power brick...and since it's pretty much going to be sitting at my desk and not being moved around all that much, why not just connect a 3TB external HDD to it? It would be the same as having two HDD bays.
edit: Ok correction....hispeed just told us it won't be able to take the 485M or any 100W GPUs. But that's ok. Who's to say that in the future, there won't be a mGPU that is more powerful than the 485M and has a lower power consumption than the 460M?
Mr. Mysterious -
The 2630QM does support 1600mhz ram, but only in the 2x2gb configuration.
The default clevo card does support bluetooth. -
What I want is: Since it comes with 2*4GB 1333MHz memory, I want to add another 2*4GB memory to make it 16GB.
I was just afraid that different brand/memory chip with the one comes from Sager will make it unusable or some performance trade off??
I know it is overkill for many, but due to the nature of my study I play a lot with virtual machines (several at a time). 8GB maybe sufficient, but 16 will be perfect

Argh, I feel like I'm on the edge of my insanity!
Either go with a stock 8130 with the wifi card and blu ray drive....
Or go for the stock 8170 for only $80 more....I can always add the wifi card and blu ray drive once I earn up enough money...
This thing is driving me crazy!

D'oh! Fine, I'm sticking with my 8130...it's not a bad machine. I'll go for the top of the line in my next PC then...Might as well buy a desktop, eh?
No, I'm staying with my 8130. And that's that.

I think the closest equivalent is Mysterio from Spiderman.
On a different note, we'd better get back on topic before the admins kick us out, lol.

So, lets discuss some technology... how about trucks and planes? what keeps them in the air and on the ground?.... such a slender thread... it would be such a shame if someone where to sabotage it... I wonder which international conglomerate owns UPS? Oh, who knew... its Wayne Enterprises!!! -
Mine just shipped! it will arrive the same day as yours, mysterious, now we are literally dealing with hours, minutes and seconds...

@Mr.Mysterious: do you really want a 17 incher? it's gonna be hard to move around. would never get a laptop larger then 16", but that's just me. 17-18 = desknote territory. and I'd just much rather get a desktop at that point. -

Lmao. You guys are funny.
I wasn't planning on moving the machine around anyways. My HDX16t just stays in place, regardless of how big or heavy it is.
For portability, I have a speedy netbook. And it's 2lbs. Yeah...that's right. Two...pounds. Does everything I want or need it to do.
To the guys that already have your PCs: With the CD/DVD that came with your machine, were you able, using the optical drive, to install W7 onto a different hard drive?

@dulmid I was looking at the Asus as well but went with the 8130 for the subtle design, extra ports (I plan on using them) and great introductory price.
1. Memory brand isn't an issue unless you plan on overclocking your system. You can always upgrade to any brand of DDR3 memory in the future. Macs are 'special' in the fact that they don't like some kinds of memory, or perhaps the modules were bad.
2. Intel wireless has 3 vs 2 antennas. The standard card will work fine for you in most cases. I don't think it's worth the price to upgrade. I didn't choose the intel card personally because driver support is lacking for an operating system that won't be discussed here.
3. 8170 like 8150 can handle faster components that generate more heat and draw more power. It also has a 2nd hard drive bay. If you just want a larger screen you might want to conciser just buying an external monitor. You can get a decent 23" for less than $200. I find having a 2nd monitor handy but you obviously can't take it with you. -

Is anyone else checking their tracking number every hour?
Mr. Mysterious -
By the way, I found that tracking with this website gives you a little more detail, along with a map: Boxoh universal package tracking: UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL with RSS and Maps
Also, what time zone are you in? -

I'm on the east coast (yeah, that pretty much guarantees you will get your package first
). Thanks for the link.

So is it safe to say that, I can mix between two brands of memory as long as they have the same latency?
I already check that default card has 150Mbps, while Intel 6230 has 300Mbps and 6300 with 450Mbps.. I choose to go with the default since I am using it only for internet, not network gaming.
Yes, the only consideration to buy 8170 in my case is: It has large 17 inch and 2nd harddrive bay with RAID 0 configuration. But they are hundred bucks more exp, starting at lower specs and 900 gram heavier (not that I'm planning to move it everyday, but occasionally). I plan to get an external 23" Dell Ultra sharp IPS panel 1920*1080 which is like 273 Sing Dollar in Singapore (220usd?) .
Anyway, I just make my order on NP8130 half hour ago with a local reseller.
But contrary to others, I actually hope it won't come so soon. I have a big exam in 2 weeks time. So it will be a disaster if my notebook arrived earlier than that -
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Lol, tell me about it. I have an exam on Thursday, and my notebook is coming in on Wednesday...I don't think I'd be able to study that well for it, if I'm checking my email all the time. Thankfully, this weekend I made sure to make up for it, by doing all my prep right then.
