Yeah yeah...only because you lived closer. I'm all the way across the country. Anyways, go ahead and tell us what it's like.

It's okay - you both have provided valuable information to the masses about the various Sager models. I am looking forward to your opinions once you receive your machines.
-
I'm hoping that my laptop has shipped and they just haven't sent the email yet.
-
-
Here's hoping that I get a shipping notification tomorrow morning saying that it shipped today! -

I ordered mine through XoticPC a couple days before the both of you, but then again I used a different payment method (which took sometime to clear). I didn't mind the banter, although tonight's has been slightly over the top. Nothing bad, mind you. I, for one, like being able to see what other individuals have as notebooks. When deciding what I want, I don't want to accidentally miss something obvious, since I'm new at this.
Sager NP8130

@thegdbatman and mrmysterious66:
I had to delete 14 off-topic posts. You completely derailed the thread.
As funny as this banter might seem to you two, it is annoying and unneeded for others who are here for useful information.
If you really want to chat randomly, there is a thread called "The Random Thread" in the off-topic forum dedicated for this sort of stuff... -

I ordered Stock Sager 8130 on 21st march. Good to see that people ordering on 16th are receiving it in march itself. Because they had given me a timeline of 3 weeks.
Seems intel are ramping up SB supply. A friend of mine had ordered XPS with SB processors, he was told april timeline as well but got it last thursday. -
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Ahhh lucky him. Well congrats and welcome to the owner's lounge for the 8130.
I'm still waiting for my PC, but it's coming on Thursday, so hopefully I don't have to wait that long. I'd rather much go for a reseller's customer service than dell's though.
Has anyone else manually changed their optical drive and put an SSD in there with a caddy? Could you tell us what the experience was like? Mainly because that's what I'm going to do.
Mr. Mysterious -
Thanks! 3 weeks ago I hadn't even heard of Sager and now I'm one of the Gollum's waiting for his precioussss!
By the way which reseller did you order it through? I've heard Xotic gives out stage by stage updates for the orders. I ordered from PowerNotebooks and they would notify me only once it is shipped. It is really difficult to sit around and wait! I would be a little helpful to be told stuff like, "your mobo is up now", "you hdd has been plugged in" etc -
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Yeah, I ordered through Xotic, but they don't give that detailed updates, lol. The phases are pretty much Phase 1: Order Confirmation/Processing, Phase 2: Burn in, Testing and Final Questions, Phase 3 (Optional): Skinning and Painting Customization and Phase 4: Shipping.
Mr. Mysterious -
Ah well but wouldn't those updates be awesome?
Although I've been pondering, shouldn't those phase updates be coming from Sager? I might have read that but I forget what really the job of resellers here is. Sager builds the system from clevo barebones right? And if sager are providing those updates then shouldn't all the resellers provide them? I think I'm missing something here...
Also, wasn't this thread abt 130 pages long until yesterday, or do i really need
1) to post in the right thread and
2) some caffeine -

Mysterious, I'm confused. Your eta says 3/30/2011, but you said it was Thursday. The 30th is Wednesday!
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Is it? I guess I got confused....It'll arrive sometime this week! Before the weekend, definitely.
Too bad I can't enjoy it, in the midst of the exams, papers and presentations, lol. Plus, the C300 that I'm eyeing (and will buy in a month or so) is at 64GB but it's pretty cheap...like less than $130. For SATA 3 speeds in a SATA 3 capable system like mine, it's a pretty sweet deal for a boot OS drive.
Mr. Mysterious -
Hopefully mine will be here in a couple of hours -

I'm sorry...what is the CP30? o.o
Mr. Mysterious -
btw what are those cp30 and c300 stuff you guys are talking abt? -
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
I don't know what batman is talking about with the CP30...
Mr. Mysterious -
@ Mysterious: You might want to think about spending a bit more for a larger drive. Keep in mind the Crucial drive will have about 59gb of space after formatting. Since most modern games nowadays are ~20gb with windows and other random files that doesn't give you that much space to work with. When it comes to real world benefits, SATA 2 vs 3 isn't worth the price premium if you are on a budget. Spending a bit more for some extra space I can recommend as having a larger drive will show tangible benefits at a linear price. -

Just letting you know that I got mine at 7ish PM eastern time. Was the longest wait I've had. Looked out the window for every car that passed by. Made me hate Vans and SUVs since they sound similar to UPS trucks

Good news! I've found out that our SB laptops can have their processors removed and put in the newer Ivy Bridge processors that will come out later this year and in early 2012...if need be.
p.s. I won't be spending money on this, but it's good to know that I have the option.
I'd better source this...
http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/522203-forget-huron-river-22nm-ivy-bridge-way.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandy_Bridge
Shows that there will be a 20% Performance improvement over the SBs and a 30% integrated graphics improvement.
Most importantly, LightPeak integration (Thunderbolt)! But we won't have the ports for it....I wonder if there will be adapters for this kind of thing...

They can also make the shutting down and starting of the computer much faster, and often make the "general use" things (such as webpage loading, document opening, etc) feel zippier. -
Well I just got mine about an hour ago. It is essentially what I expected, except I think that sager accidentally gave me an 8150.
-
Congratz!!! Jackpot (or not). So is it a np8150? I didn't like rubber finish on that unit or I might have upgraded my order to that one (dust issue).
-
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
.......so not fair.
Mr. Mysterious -
-
The 8130 and 8150 are pretty similar, I've never heard of a 8150 without the rubberized finish. In fact they come from Clevo with the rubberized: CLEVO - Products
So that means either it went through, Clevo, Sager, and your reseller without being noticed or they just didn't care... -
Batman, We need to see some pictures of this hybrid 8130/8150!
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
Congrats you flying-rodent-man-mutant. You won the bet fair and square, so I guess congratulations are in order. Enjoy your new 8150 and I'm glad there are no issues about it.
So, you like the screen...what else?
Oh, and quad, don't worry about it, your machine will get there for you know it. Have a little patience and you might accidentally end up with an 8150 yourself, lol.
Mr. Mysterious -
The keyboard, it is the best I've seen for a laptop.
The speakers, same as above.
The performance. Everything is instant even on windoze.
The lack of stupid bloat-ware. This is the first time I have turned on a new computer without feeling like uninstalling every piece of pre-installed software.
The price.
I dislike:
The touchpad. Touchpads usually suck, and so does this one. Using this sparkley plastic finish on the touchpad itself was a bad idea, it will wear down.
The fingerprint reader isn't great. It is the same as any other laptop, but it sucks.
The general feel when carrying it, setting it down, etc. I can vouch for the build quality, but for some reason picking it up or moving it worries me.
Windows 7 spell-check sucks compared to Ubuntu.
The screen looks amazing but fhd means web-browsing is awkward.
I said that the keyboard is good, and I still think it is, but there is a fair amount of flex an a slight clattering sound when you get to the WASD area. -
Now let me preface this statement with a disclaimer- I am not an old person. It is a coincidence.
I only have an analog camera, which would take a while to get developed. -
The P151HM1 and the P150HM both register as P150HMx due to them both being variations of that model. the P15 xHMx is just showing the different cosmetic appearance, so doesn't appear in the board ID and for the P150HM, the second x is just blank.
-
-
I do have a single stuck green pixel and a few dim pixels though -
I thought there was a first come first serve basis.
I feel the same as you bro
Either way there is no chance of getting it this week for its too late now.
