The 8130 has a high capacity 8 cell battery while most notebooks come with smaller 6 cell batterys. This may affect charging times. Charging while playing games will absolutely lengthen charging time as the power supply can not suply enough wattage to charge the battery at full speed and run the notebook.

Using finger p pressure to fix a pixel should be last resort. There is free software online to fix pixels. it works by rapidly changing pixel color till the pixel becomes unstuck. You need to run it for a long time but you can use your laptop while fixing the pixel.

All this talk of chasis flex, cheap keyboard, and dead or green pixels has gotten me relatively on edge.

Here's to hoping that you all were just unlucky. :)

Crossing my fingers that my laptop shipped today and I will get it on Friday. I'll be anxiously waiting for that email tomorrow morning.

Lol. that's not very considerate, but I feel ya. :p
Is it so much that it's really noticeable just moving it around and stuff? I have a 15" already, and yeh it will flex a little bit, but feels absolutely sturdy. Sure I wouldn't want to drop it, but I wouldn't want to drop any electronics. Now if you feel uneasy, just picking it up and turning it around and stuff then that's a different story.

Thank you. Cool, the cooling system does not make noise as B52 :) . And how very hot laptop, keyboard?
I understand, that in read / watch the video, just drop the CPU frequency, and the graphics card runs at full frequency? Accordingly, noise and time work do not differ much - play or watch a movie?

For those who are still waiting for their laptop, let's hope that our laptop will come in one piece. Cheers

I didn't mean to scare anyone, just being critical of a 1300 dollar machine. I don't mind the keyboard rattle or cooling noise, the only thing that really concerns me is the weight + plastic chassis = not what I expected. Especially when all these raving owners spout crap like "Clevo is bar none the best quality laptop I've ever seen" and whatnot. I might be over reacting, but only slightly. Maybe I've been spoiled with solid laptops over the years.

Shipped!! Scheduled delivery tomorrow! the extra $30+ for 2nd day was so worth it.

I plan to take some pictures and maybe even a video depending on when I get it.

Justin and JP at Xotic have both been awesome about keeping me updated on status.

    Lol, about time...

My machine is out for delivery as of 8am this morning. But it's in a neighboring town, so I'm guessing I will get it later today.

Soon to come: A very comprehensive review of the Sage NP8130 by yours truly, covering everything I possibly can think of. (No benchmarks though, sorry fellas)

My order has been shipped as well and is scheduled to arrive on tuesday! How I wish I had gotten that 2 day delivery! Just a few more days but I'm having a feeling those days are gonna be way more anxiety ridden!!

@Batman: What I meant was if the dead pixels are on the top right corner and the left corners are suspended due to the warping then that could mean that the warping was due to some disproportionate pressure on the top right corner. Although I dont know if shipping issues are covered by the resellers. But the best would be as ThisisaLamp said, to get a new screen.

I'm in the same boat as hispeed.

My laptop hasn't had any random freezes, no dead/stuck pixels, stays cool, I don't mind the keyboard. It just took some time for me to get used to it because I've never used chiclet keyboard before.

I think the ones experiencing problems are just unlucky unfortunately

Dude you have a lot of patience. I'm just gonna rip apart the packing and start with the installations.
Still not sure which is the first game I want to install first. What are you people's plans? Which game would exploit the processing power of the cpu and gpu?

I'll be ripping into it as well. As far as games go I have SC2, WoW, and I'm thinking about picking up CoD Black Ops today.

One of the first things I'll do is throw in a bluray disc just to see how it looks on the 1080p screen.

Once I've setup Win7 how I like it, transferred my files over (looking forward to using USB3.0 with my WD Passport) and tried a few games I'll take some pictures and write up my initial thoughts.

    Looking forward to it.

First thing I'm going to install is Visual Studios 2010, I want to see how it loads on this computer. Then perhaps watch District9 since I got the BluRay by accident and its just been kinda sitting on my shelf, about a month.

First game I play is probably going to be MW2. Beleive it or not, I bought it a year ago thinking I could play it on a 8200M, must have been deluding myself. I actually got through the game, which goes to show how well optimized it was, but I would like to play the campaign over again how its meant to be played, without lowering every setting to scrape out every fps I can get, and still getting avg. 10-20, and often <10 fps. ;l

I suppose if people are interested, I could run a benchmark as well and do a review of the Redline Boost, since I seem to be unique, in that I'm the only one who got it.

@Quad: I've played COD4(xbox), MW2(my bros epic pc), & blackops (xbox) and honestly I like the 1st one the best. Maybe I'm just tired of COD series... And if its ur first FPS, get prepared to be annihilated by 12 year olds in Multiplayer :p

Unfortunately, it's still at home and not at my college campus, where I am at right now, so it's still 300 miles away, lol. I should get it by tomorrow afternoon, in my hands, when my family comes to visit for the weekend.

Congrats Mysterious! but if this was your case then you were always gonna lose to Bats! :p

    @Quad and Tech
Hmm, FPS's will have to wait then, I dont wanna get owned by kids on my hard earned new system :p

Being a WC3 player, I'm really wary of going into SC2 and WoW. Blizzard's games are too addictive.. But SC2, atleast campaigns...
I'm thinking about Arkham Asylum and PoP Forgotten Sands. Both of them should look beautiful on this system!

And Tech, I tht that this system is gonna own pretty much any game out there, atleast for an year or so and hence I avoided the Redline boost. But yeah I wouldn't mind seeing the benchmarks, to see what limits they got it up to..

Thanks for the info. I'm an old schooler when it comes to FPS. I started out way back with Doom playing peer to peer and then played the original Quake multi player for a long time and many others along the way. I haven't played many FPS games over the last couple years but I would like to get back into it casually. I did play Battlefield Bad Company for a while on PS3 but I've never been that great at FPS games on consoles. I really need a mouse and keyboard to play these game.

Since I'm just looking for a good multi player experience I'll probably stick with COD and let the 12 year olds mop the floor with me while I knock off the rust and then eventually show them who their daddy is!

Neat feature of this laptop, showing why it's a true gaming laptop. If you press FN and 1, you will manually activate the fans to Full speed (for both CPU and GPU fans!) It'll stay that way until you press FN+1 again to return it to automatic fans.

I found this out when I was playing a game and accidentally pressed those keys (instead of ctrl+1 setting up a hotkey in sc2). It'll stay in manual full blast mode even if you reboot the computer until you press fn+1 again.

I too would really like to know more about these concerns with the plastic chassis. If I'm dropping $1300 on something, it better be built like a rock like this thing has been hyped up as. I'm considering canceling my order and going for a $500 budget laptop that I can actually expect to have a little flex if I have to have flex.

I just tried this 20 seconds ago! Coolest feature ever. And if anyone was wondering, it does Black ops on max settings. The game kinda sucks though.

Besides the stuck and dim pixels, the noisy keyboard, the chassis flex, and the unwanted clicking sound of the right mouse button (there ends up being 3 clicks, one when you press it down, and two when it comes up, the second sounds like flicking aluminium foil) , it seems ok to me. It also makes a sound that I can only describe as a high frequency wine, almost like hot metal in water. I think that is the hard drive. I have tried the software fix for the pixels (called jscreenfix) to no avail. The dim pixels are literally that. It is a group of pixels, 2x3 I think, that is always a more moderate shade of the color that it supposed to be. For example, white shows up as light gray, and black shows up as dark grey. It could also be a defect in the coating of the screen, who knows. I guess I just don't have the patience to wait several weeks to rma this one.

Oh and it froze once when playing black ops, but it was probably just window's fault.

Well if you ignore all of the minor flaws its good, the performance makes up for it all. None of the flaws actually impede the function of the computer. It just makes me cringe whenever I notice the stuck pixel or the noisy keys and buttons. I think I have already gotten over my gripes with the chassis flex, but I do wish they used a more rigid plastic and some metal parts. I measured the flex, and it seems to be between 3 and 6mm when you pick up either of the lower corners of the computer.

I would definitly accept a free display but I wouldn't send the computer back. I ordered this laptop because my old one was quiting on me and I needed a new one for school. I highly doubt that sager or xotic would just send me a display at no charge. I guess I might as well ask though :p

This flex - is it under normal use or when you try to make it flex that it's around 3-6mm? By that I mean, does it happen to that degree if you were just to pick it up from one side, or do you have to hold the other side down to see this degree of flex?
I know I'm nitpicking, but I'm already way over my intended $700 budget, and in purchasing a top of the line system I was hoping to get away from little quirks and issues that detract from the overall feel of the system. Plus, when I can drive 10 minutes and have this on my lap tomorrow and for that killer price, I'm tempted to save $800 and just go with that for the light Source gaming I plan to do, with maybe some BC2 etc. Battery life is about the same, weight is less. Build is more than likely less, but at $470, I won't be complaining. With the money I'll save I could easily buy a new Clevo system in a few years if need be. Plus, if that Gateway turns out to be a piece, I've got 30 days to return it and go with something else.
Anyways, what would you guys do in my position? I don't care about running Crysis (2) as I have a gaming rig for that. Are these issues like the flex, touchpad buttons etc bad enough that you would reconsider your purchase if a better deal came up? Like I said, I'm not really concerned about performance, after all, I've been using a notebook from 2002 for the last 6 years and it does most of what I need with email, surfing etc. I was not planning to upgrade anytime soon, and if I get the 8130 I definitely would not be upgrading in the forseeable future (read: at least 3 years) - whereas with this other deal I can easily upgrade in a couple years. This is the main reason why little quirks would not be acceptable with the 8130 to me, however: is it something you would be comfortable living with for 3+ years?

Sorry for beating this to death, but I'm sure the answers to this will help others on the fence.

Lol ethan...You messed up the link. That's ok, I just c&p onto the address bar...it's not a bad system at all, for that price.

What's the battery life of that machine?

If I had a gaming rig I wouldn't play on a laptop and hence no reason to buy this laptop. Most of us here want a gaming system with atleast some mobility and hence this laptop.
Also Sager has a $160 off on this laptop as an inaugural offer, dunno until when it stays that way.
