I have to disagree with this statement, we don't know how the G53 would handle a 100w GPU at this time as I don't think one has been put in the machine yet. A good comparison would be the G53 and the 8130 both running the nvidia 460m, which runs at 70-75w during normal usage. In that case, both machines perform very well. Temps remain at non-lethal levels even during futuremark tests, so normal gaming shouldn't be a problem on either loptop. I haven't heard the 8130 in person yet but I can say the G53 runs whisper quiet. Whether web browsing, photoshopping, or playing mass effect 2 I never hear the fans running, even in my silent room late at night. I would say that neither system should give you any worry about cooling, and with the sager you will get a far superior screen.

Well, would the 8150's cooling be as good as G73 and G53?
I'm still considering here.. XD -
Absolutely - and it could in fact be better, I just haven't seen an hard evidence proving that at this point.
 -

Just ordered my NP8130 straight from Sager. Not sure when it'll be here, but it's estimated to be back in stock ETA: End of Jan 2011 it said!
Can't wait, it's gonna be great! -

I thought Justin with Xoticpc said there was going to be a video of the 8130 on youtube put up but I haven't seen it yet. Any ETA on that Justin?
 -

Can i later put an ati 6xxxm on 8150 or 8130?
 -

Anyone have any info on how long a wait one can expect for an 8130 these days, and if the current prices will go up once they have them in stock again?
Also, does anyone know what vendors charge your card upon order and which ones wait til it actually ships. I tend to think those who wait have a bit more incentive to ship your product.
I know its back ordered, just hate the idea of tying up $$$ for a month or more when you dont know what else might come alone while your waiting. -

My 8130 arrives sometime today, but leaving town for two days. So pictures probably Friday night
      -

 When did you order it?
 -

 8150, yes; 8130, no
Don't go 8130 if you want an upgrade path. -

 1/11/11. In my sig
 -

 Slick!
I want a matte screen.....
      -

I just got my 8130 in and am posting this using the new laptop. Let me know if there are any tests you want performed. I'm not a guru on tech performance information so you will have to be specific if it is an application based test. I can also post up some pictures if you'd like.
 -

 Wow thanks!
What I wish to do was compare the cooling power of the 8150 in my sig and the 8130.
Could you run Furmark and see how the GPU temps hold up in like 5~10 minutes?
FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net -

I can do that. Just to be clear are you just looking for my opinion on how hot it's running or will the test provide specs?
 -

Okay, after 10 minutes it was running at 67C. The highest it went to was 68C. I created a photobucket so I could upload the image, but they maxed out the size I could upload...

Woo, with the better screen and the similar or even better cooling, I'll be satisfied with the NP8150.
A 100W GPU? I thought the 8150 uses a stock 460M? It's optional to upgrade to the 485M, I know. But we can still compare the 8150 and the G53 since they both use 460M.
I heard the NP8150 will be using the QM67, what's the diff with the HM65 & HM67?
Will it support Optimus!?
      -

No Optimus.
 -

Thanks a lot, is there any chance you could run it on 1920x1080 mode,
with extreme burning mode for 10 minutes? I will be getting mine soon, I will update the furmark runs with my laptop as well with the same settings. -

For overclocking GPU (GTX 460m) which one is better? np8130 or np8150?
 -

Donald@Paladin44 Retired
There wouldn't be any difference between the two.
 -

JPersona, can you run Crysis, Maxed out except for AA and tell me the Average fps?
 -

Maybe because 8130's power supply is 120w there would be a difference?
 -

Donald@Paladin44 Retired
No, that would not make a difference.
 -

Has there been a definitive statement on why Clevo is using different screens on the P151 and P150?
 -

To satisfy different tastes? I like matte screens more, but some people like glare screen
 -

Well, the easier option would have been to put a single 8150 model, and then offer both screens.... would have netted more profits as well.
Certainly they went a different route from before and I was also curious as to why they did this.. -

there are several other differences between 8130 and 8150 too.
8150 offers upgradeable graphics, 8130 doesn't. 8150 has a 180w power supply, 8130 has a 120w. I think cooling system is different too.. -

Yes,
but I meant that screen isn't related to any of that.. The PSU relates to upgradeable graphics, but why only offer single screen options..? -

Is there any place you can buy the computer without having to wait for two or so weeks for more computers to come in?
 -

Donald@Paladin44 Retired
No, if Sager doesn't have them then no one does. You just have to get your order in and wait your turn
      -

 Alright sounds good thanks.
 -
If you want different screen options in the 8150 we do offer a matte option for the 8150 just to let you know. Its a 1080p screen with 95% NTSC color gamut.
 -

Is the screen the same as the one on the 8130 matte or is it a different one?
 -
Nope, its a better screen than the screen that comes with the 8130. The 8130 comes with a screen that covers 60% of the NTSC color gamut, we are using the same family of screen but a different version that has 95% of the NTSC color gamut, so better colors for both videos and design. If you want I can send you the full spec sheet on it if you want, just PM me for it.

A little off topic
Does Blue ray drive worth it? -

If you watch/burn blurays its worth it. If you have no intention of using bluray its a waste of money
 -

Where can i find some gameplay with this? I want to see things like crysis playing maxed with NO aa.
Whats the point of aa with 1080p? You cant even see the pixels... -

Well, right now i don't use bluerays. But is there a possibility that they become essential?
 -

Hi everyone
Could you guys give me your thoughts/opnions/comments for my Sager notebook purchase? I'm going to get my 1st ever Sager notebook in Singapore so I don't have much experience with this brand...
1. Hard Disc
Do we see a significant difference between a 5,400rpm and 7,200rpm drive especially for gaming?
2. Warranty
Is a 3 year warranty really necessary? I'm not going to game forever on my Sager; I will eventually return to the desktop once Sandy Bridge Extreme, LGA2011 and PCIe 3.0 are released and optimized. However, although I won't be gaming for long, I will continue to use the Sager at my laboratory to hold all my data for my PhD project.
Just to give you guys some background on my situation, the price difference between a 2 and 3 year warranty is sufficient to buy a i. Razer Gaming Mice (Deathadder and beyond) + mouse pad, ii. 1 500GB or more external hard disc. Most important of all, I'm quite close to my budget limit now.
The only advantage that I can think of is that in the rare event that the laptop fails on the 3rd year, the hardware is free. It's a competition between risking it and saving 100SGD or spend 100 SGD more and feel secure.
3. AC adaper
Just how big and bulky is the power supply for the laptop? I'm thinking of buying 2 - 1 for the home and 1 for the lab so as to save on the weight (no need to lug laptop + charger).
As for the other issues, I've more or less decided to go for this:
Intel i7-2720QM, 2.2GHz -3.2 GHz (i like speed)
GTX 460M
IC Diamond thermal paste (don't want my laptop to undergo thermal throttling)
MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
8GB RAM
Intel Advanced N Wireless Card (hope it has better wireless performance after all)
Thank you! -

Hey I will try downloading the crysis demo tonight and run it on max settings and let you know what the fps is.
 -

The difference you will see is in load times for everything from Windows, applications, large data files, game levels, etc. I highly recommend a 7200 RPM over a 5400RPM. The system will seem more responsive in many respects.
I think three years is a little excessive. After two years your laptop will be worth a few hundred bucks in workable condition. It'd be hard to justify spending a few hundred bucks to fix an aged machine, with money that could be put towards a new one. But thats just my opinion. Others would say it's still cheaper to fix it than buy new.
Someone noted the size here but don't have a link here. It's a 120W so it's smaller than the 8150 and 8170. But it probably weighs less than two pounds in total with cord. Always nice to have a spare adapter, but I would ask your reseller what it would cost if you were to buy one later in case you want to see if it works fine with just a single adapter.[/quote]

Nice config. I think you'll be happy. -

One additional note I have noticed about the charger for the 8130. So far, it has not run very hot even after being on for a few hours and gaming. Though to be fair I have only tested it on free games that don't push the graphics card
      -

Running the game on high my average fps was about 25. The laptop I got was the standard setup with the only upgrade being win 7
 -

Got home maybe 30mins ago and now on my new 8130
soon to be awesomely named ...
      -

Not really. Some people think digital downloads will be the future, and physical media won't be as prominent.

Hi htwingnut
Thanks for your input. I decided to go for a 7,200rpm 500GB HDD instead of an upsize to a 5,400rpm 640GB HDD. And now all I have to do is wait. I hope the laptop arrives by end March... -

alright, after reading through all (!!!) the posts in this thread a few questions still remain
It was said couple times, that the NP8130's case material was plastic w/o the rubber finish of the NP8150. However, I could not find any/lot of information on the build quality/sturdiness of the case.
Also, the upgrade option for an video adaptor is somewhat confusing.. a I right that this option allows for 2 external monitors instead of just 1?
What are the chances to change the HDD to SSD later? Lenovos y560p/460p apparently allows for that.. I understand, that unless I get rid of the optical drive I can't use both..
further on SSDs .. how would I benefit the most of an SSD? Considering their small sizes I assume I would need to run some software (the less often used one) from an external hdd..?
I am thinking of ordering w/o OS since I have a legit copy of Win7 64-bit. However, this is only an image-file and so far I wasnt able to create a bootable disc from that.. any suggestions/tips on that?
Last, regarding the warranty.. I am actually from Germany and spend about 1/3 to 1/4 of the year there.. sometimes longer... I believe Sager laptops are sold in Germany under the brand Schenker .. Does anybody know if it would be an option for me to go to them in case of an issue?
Thanks, help is much appreciated...!

BTW..I find in really funny/interesting to read that there are people considering buy this machine although theyll be using it only for browsing/movies/office applications Id rather save that money for other stuff.. -

Knowing Sager, the build quality will be near top notch.
In regards to the hardrives, unfortunately this machine only supports 1 hardrive in it's bay excluding the Optical Disk Drive. http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...-ssd-hdd-storage-using-optical-bay-caddy.html
