Thanks Hutsady.
After forcibly saving the files, as a simple click would whisk me off to the Sager home page, I couldn't install the profiles. Says its not compatible. Could be that I'm not using an nVidia card.
Either way, the bottom is still outstandingly pinker than the rest.

I just did a clean install/upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. I installed drivers based upon unknown devices showing up in the Device Manager, plus drivers that I knew I would use and had updated versions. I installed the following:
- Camera (original CD driver)
- Cardreader (original CD driver)
- Hotkey (original CD driver)
- AMD/Radeon HD (current driver)
- Fingerprint (current driver)
- Wireless (current driver)
- (I skipped the Touchpad driver because I mainly use an external mouse, plus I do not know where to get a current version)
My question is should I install any other drivers ( e.g. the Chipset driver, even though it is Windows 7, or the Intel Management Engine)? Also, although the Hotkey driver works (and this is a very minor issue), I get two notifications/images when I use the function keys - one from the Hotkey program and one presumably from Windows 8. Is there anyway to disable the Windows 8 notifications?
Thanks for any advice! -
concerning chipset driver and IME u can just go and check intels website for the most current versions. other drivers, including card reader, cam, touchpad etc. can be found at station-drivers.com
thats where i always get my driver updates from
which hotkey version are u using?

I am using the Hotkey version (3.3020) which came on my driver installation disc.
Thanks again! -
I believe the np8150 or p150hm series uses the hm65 motherboard and the series 6 intel chipset. If I'm wrong the installer won't continue.
My previous Asus had a program called Power4Gear to manage power profiles and battery usage, is there something similar?
Also, what is Hotkey for? -
this is the one u can use: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...eng&OSVersion=Windows 8*&DownloadType=Drivers
also, if ure interested, heres the most current V3 hotkey version: https://www.box.com/s/y0mrcklly63zndshl3of
Ive found the newer V6 and V8 hotkey versions not really working to my satisfaction on the P150HM
@Smellon: Hotkey is the Clevo analogue to Power4Gear and also manages the keyboard shortcuts for such things as brightness, sound, touchpad/webcam/wifi/bluetooth activation/deactivation, etc. -
smellon - You're correct about the chipet/series.
jaybee83 - I used the download from the link provided and (even though I did not see HM 65 or Series 6 listed) it did in fact find and download some drivers. I also used the newer version of Hotkey which you provided - it seems to work the same but newer is (usually) better. I still get double notifications/images which is apparently because Windows 8 supports about half of the function keys on its own ( i.e. they work without Hotkey installed) - I just have not figured out if it is possible to turn off Windows 8 notifications, but (again) it is not really a big deal.
I think that just leaves one question/issue - Should I install IME and, if so, just use the version on my installation disc or is there a newer version? I have looked on Intel's site but can only find the IME driver for desktop boards.
Thanks again! -

IME is not really required for most users.

Hey, guys.
My np8150 won't start up. I removed the keyboard to clean underneath and now it won't turn on. Tried everything I could think of, removed the battery, took out the ram, triple checked that it was in securely. Even tried swapping them but no luck.
The lights turn on when I press the power but the screen just stays black, doesn't even flicker. The fans spin too. It sounds like the hardrive spins too but that may also just be the odd. The keyboard works because fn+1 turns on the other fan but nothing else does anything, caps/scroll lock lights don't even come on.
I tried an external keyboard and monitor but still nothing, I'll try a monitor again tomorrow.
Any thoughts guys? I'm kind of worried -
what exactly did u use to clean up under ur keyboard? did u remove both the battery and the psu connector before the cleaning?

Sounds like you may have accidently hit some connection that loosened the wire/cable. If comfortable doing so I'd fully disconnect any cables you see and then put them back in to make sure you have them properly seated all the way.
-
Thanks for the replies. I disconnected the battery and psu completely before doing any dismantling. I also made sure to hold the power button to remove any residual power left. I used compressed air to clean inside.
I'm not sure what I may have disconnected. Nothing really seemed too exposed underneath that metal casing beneath the keyboard. I'll open it up again and see what I could have missed.
Is it unusual that the screen stays completely off while turning on? The computer also runs for quite a while, I left it on for about 10 minutes before turning it off. Do you think its just the monitor? Or is something preventing it from launching?
Thanks. -

If you plug in a monitor before you power on does it get a display? do you get normal hdd activity after powering on? startup sounds? just some more ideas to figure out if its just the screen or whether its not POSTing and booting up normally
but #1 suspect still cables/connections -

How did you clean the system?

I used compressed air to clean all the junk and oreo crumbs out. I never took off the metal sheet that covers the motherboard though. Just focused mainly on the keyboard

When I turn it on there are no hdd sounds as far as I can tell. Just fans LEDS and the odd. I'm going to check out the motherboard now. Is there a guide to access the motherboard? Do I open it from the top or bottom -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Found this little treasure posted back in the day by J.P. but here is the disassemble guide.
-
-
Maybe I'm crazy, but I can't find in this guide how to access the mobo. It doesn't look like this metal cover comes off.
*Edit* We have progress!! I don't know what I did, but I just tried turning it on again and the screen came on! It didn't do anything after that screen and I don't have a keyboard plugged in, but it's a good start.
*Update 2*
SUCCESS! Thanks for all the help.Pheww.
Now I can back to what I was originally planning on doing. Replacing the ODD with an SSD. Any suggestions you guys have? -
-
*accident* (sorry for the bajillion posts!)

Edit: Side note, just realized you were putting it into the ODD bay. Instead you'll want the 840 in the primary bay and move your existing mechanical drive into the ODD caddy. You'll get better performance this way due to the speed limitations of the ODD being Sata II as opposed to Sata III -

Glad to hear you got it working. There must have been something kinked when you put the keyboard back on the first time.
-
Thanks for the advice. I read about swapping the bays, but I wasn't sure if it applied to me or not. Does this mean I should transfer the OS onto the new drive? -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
-
I was planning on using Norton Ghost to transfer my OS. Do you guys have any other recommendations? -
I have noticed that some of the sticky pads from underneath my P150HM are disappearing.. I don't suppose anyone knows if replacements can be obtained somehow?
My laptops vendor said the only way they could do it would be to replace the whole back cover housing -
how are they disappearing? are they losing their stickiness? if thats the case then just use some super glue to pop them right back in
@jordexciu: when switching from a regular HDD / hybrid HDD to an SSD id always recommend to do a fresh install instead of an OS transfer -
*Edit* On second thought, maybe I'll hold off for Windows 8 for now. I use my computer mainly for gaming and I'm hearing that it's not the best for gaming. -
where did u hear that? cant complain performance-wise, its pretty much identical to win7. but the stability and smoothness of everday operation is way better than in win7

Alright, you guys changed my mind. As far as the every day operations goes, that does seem like a big issue for me, but I'm sure I can modify/tweak/hack and adapt to make it run fluent like I'm used to.

Where can I find Windows 8 drivers for my computer? I was planning on using Drivermax to copy all my old ones over.
Software Upgrade
This is all I can find on the Sager website. -
basically, what i did was to take the stock drivers i had from before and check station-drivers.com and the respective hardware manufacturer´s websites (AMD for the GPU or Authentec for the fingerprint scanner, for example) for the newest driver revisions
i know its a hassle, but its actually the only thorough way to always have the most current drivers for ur machine.
another option (albeit dependent on the users supporting it) would be to go ahead and check the driver threads here on nbr. this one, for example: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/699962-updated-clevo-driver-thread.html -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You can likely just grab a lot of them from the 9150 pages as the driver suites (for intel/AMD/Nvidia) will work across newer and older hardware.

i have a clevo P150HM that i got off my brother friend that has no gpu. it had an ati 6990m which has been taken out, what card can i put in it. my budget is about £150. i have seen nvidia gtx560 mxmb card for £140 mark will this work with my laptop. my main use for this will be video editing not gaming. could i put a cheaper card in like gtx260m.
-
the 560m should work without a problem
no idea about previous gens like the 260m tho.
-
-
For the most part, Gpu acceleration is mostly used to pre render only specific effects to make real time previews a bit faster.
You can easily verify this by checking temps and cpu /gpu activity during actual editing and rendering.

Seen a ati6970m crossfire for £180 on ebay but has a litte sticking out of the side would this be better or should I just get the gtx560m
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2 -
why would u get crossfire for a single gpu machine? to have a spare one?
in principle, the 6970m works in the p150hm, but what do u mean with "a little sticking out of the side"?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 -
the card was an AMD Radeon Mobility HD6970M (BlackcombXT)., i cannot get the picture to show so i have put the ebay number in. the ebay number for it is 121060945420 will this fit in my laptop or should i ask for a refund. i have won for £100
