Hey guys so I ended up getting the 7970m. I'm pretty sure it didn't come with a hm bios. I was gonna flash it with a bootable USB but problem is I can't see my bios to set up the USB as the first bootable device. Anyone have instructions to set up the USB as the first bootable device blind. A video or screenshots help wonders!

There was a thread on blind flashing. Use Google to search the forums for it.

I'm sorry but as is documented on here the 7xx series is not compatible with past generation clevo machines. In future feel free to ask before buying a card if it will work.

The 680M works if it has an original version of the shipping vbios and the 7970M has an available vbios that either needs to be flashed before shipping blind flashed when installed into the machine.

Just to let you guys know that after quite some time spent on ebay, I was able to get a gpu that works with our p150hm, without the need to update bios. Works plug an play, a green 2800m. It revived it with a budget below 100 USD.

Just wanted to share the experience, it was not easy to find a replacement for my old 6990m, not as powerful, but now the battery lasts 2 hours, on the good side.

    Cheers,

Glad you got it working, bit of a downgrade but if someone just needs the system working not a bad option.

So ive recently run into some problems with me Sager NP8150. First off my 6990M died which seems to be a common issues. Anyway i forked over $700 and bought a 680M. I modified my vbios managed to get the card working great. I was getting graphics scores around 8300 on 3dmark and physics scores around 6k. Anyway earlier today I was playing assassins creed when randomly my fps dropped from 45-55 down to 18-20 out of no where. My card was running cool at 65C and nothing else really seemed to go wrong. I decided to lower my settings to see what would happen and even at the lowest settings my fps were around 25. I decided to install 3dmark11 again (i recently installed windows 8.1) and ran a test. My graphics score has dropped to 6500 and my physics is ridiculously low at 1200. Now im starting to wonder if my CPU is ting out on me too. any suggestions on what might be going on?

    Thanks

What CPU do you have, and have you tried ThrottleStop? What does HWMonitor report your CPU temps at? Does your CPU need repasting?

well i would agree that assassins creed is buggy if my 3dmark11 scores werent effected but they are as well. Also my package temps are around 41-45C. I have also checked throttlestop everything is running at 100% but my 32M 8 thread scores have also taken a hit. What used to run in about 28 seconds is now taking 42+ errr this is rather discouraging.

Ok time to hit us with some information then:

CPU clock speeds, throttle percentages, temperatures and usage levels over the freezings issues (intel XTU)
GPU clock speeds, usage levels and temperatures over the feezing issues (GPU-Z)
Ram usage and disk utilisation over this time too (windows performance monitoring)

My setup is the same as yours, and I was having the same throttling problems. My solution was installing Throttlestop and turning off BD PROCHOT.

It all depends on what is causing the issue. There can be a few sources which is why you need to look at the system.

    Hi @ all,

after a failed flashing attempt (my brother tried to flash a HD 7970m while a 6990m was still plugged in ), the BIOS of the MoBo seems to be corrupt. I can't access the BIOS by pressing F2 nor with another hot key. After the 'style note' Logo it beeps three times (long interval between the beep tone) and after that windows boots up normally. Except for the corrupt BIOS all works fine so far.

    P150HM // GTX 670mx // i7 2720qm // 32gb RAM 1333Mhz // Win7 Ent 64bit

My idea was to flash the latest BIOS version via Windows, as it seems the only possibility to do that. But to no avail! :(

I got the following error messages:

    - Flashing BIOS 1.01.14 via AFUDOS
    Pic1.JPG
not compatible with 64bit version of Windows

    - Flashing BIOS 1.01.14 via AFUDOS under Win7 Home Prem 32bit
ntvdm.exe is missing -> virtual DOS machine!?

    - Flashing BIOS 1.01.14 via AFUWIN
    Pic2.JPG
Flashing was possible but nothing changed -> Later on I got the info that BIOS is 'write-protected'

If anyone has a clue how to solve this or can confirm that I have to acquire a new MoBo, I would be glad to hear from someone. If you need more specific details, I will provide them.

    Thanks a lot! :)

    Hey all,

So recently bought a 680m off of Ebay that was apparently flashed correctly for my P150HM. It boots perfectly fine, display is ok, etc. But when I go into device manager it only recognizes it as a VGA display adapter and when I try to update Nvidia drivers from their website it says could not find compatible graphics hardware when I try to install. How do I fix this? I used to have a 6990m if that helps. Thanks!

You need to modify the .inf file in the downloaded Nvidia drivers before installing.

Hey guys, I got a question here. So I have a Sager NP8150 and my graphics card (6990m) is on the way out. I've baked it twice now, last time it lasted 4 months, just went out again yesterday, so I did it again. It's once again working for now, but the oven must have messed something up (no surprise, but I figure what did I have to lose) cause now its overheating a lot (was a bit before, even more now though). Anyways, my question is this. I don't really game on my laptop anymore so is there a cheaper graphics card I could replace my 6990m with? I'm not sure what ones would be compatible, but any option would be fine, all I really use my laptop for anymore is to browse the internet, listen to music, and watch videos.

Since a while back my computer (see sig) has started running in slow motion; animations from BIOS to Windows run at a very slow rate, and system timers seem to be going at a much slower rate than usual (system time is not affected but timers such as count down timers when copying files are very wrong, etc). I have had this problem sometimes before and then reinstalling graphics drivers and deleting some data from my SSD has fixed it. But not now. I have tried removing my SSD, removing the CMOS battery but this hasn't changed anything. I have also run CCleaner and Guru3D's Display Driver Uninstaller. When I have completely uninstalled graphics drivers (using DDU) Windows has been running at normal speed, as the OS is then rendered by the CPU. Also, CPU rendered stuff like the mouse cursor is rendered at normal speed. Could it be some motherboard/gfx hardware fault? Is there some way to prove this?

I am running a dual boot (1x SSD and 1x HDD) and this slow motion affects both installs.

I tried Furmark - and it ran with no problems, although the fps counter is wrong (like all timers). Could replacing the CMOS battery be worthwhile?

Edit: I have now also tried changing RAM sticks - makes no difference either.

I've searched through this thread and still havent found the solution to the 'Brightness not working in Windows 8' issue. Did anyone actually found a fix without the workaround to roll back to 12.8 ATI drivers ?

Has anyone solved the hotkey issue with the NP8150? I've had this computer for about a year now and it runs everything I want. But lately for the last 3-4 months, the hotkey driver fails to load. This happens about 3 or 4 times a week and takes me HOURS and lots of uninstall/reinstall every version of hotkey out there to get it to work. It will work fine for for a few days, some times longer and then happens all over again.

Frankly I getting tired of this crap, and am this close > < from getting rid of the POS. I have know idea why/what is causing the problem. Also, some of the function keys quit working when this happens.

    Any suggestions.

Are you installing other programs in the meantime of getting the hotkey driver to work? If it's working it should stay working unless another program is modifying something that is causing it to stop. Might want to try turning off Windows updates as an experiment if you haven't done so already to see if that helps.

Not installing any programs. It happens whenever I start the computer. The only thing going on is the startup. Infact it did it again today after 2 days of working. I reinstalled the driver and on reboot same thing. Restarted again and it's working. Tomorrow it will do the same thing if it follows history. I'm not a programmer, but it seems to me to be poorly written programming. Unfortunately, I've decided to get rid of this laptop for another brand. I'm tired of having to reinstall and reboot 5-6 times a day just to get things working. Seems to be an ongoing problem with this driver. To bad it was a good laptop when it worked. :(

I wouldn't say it's a problem with the driver if only you or a select few are the only ones experiencing the issue. There has to be an underlying cause if it works for the vast majority of people. I'd shoot your reseller's service team an email and see what they'd have to suggest if you're not wanting to do any more troubleshooting yourself.

Never did mention if you had checked the windows updates. If it's happening like clockwork, then something that also happens like clockwork is typically to be blamed and if Windows updates are set to occur at a certain time on a schedule, I'd still be of the opinion they're the culprit for the trouble you're having.

This has been going off and on for as long as I've had the laptop (2years). Right after I got it, it happened and found out what was causing it (hotkey) and reinstalled and everything was fine for awhile. But it has never not been a problem since. Just today it happened and I reinstalled the driver, everything was okay. Next time I started up it happened again. Reinstalled the driver and it happened on reboot.

Windows update doesn't make any difference. There were no updates going at anytime. I disable auto updating and update on my own, when there is a new one. Never trusted auto updating. Other people have had the problem and still seem to have the problem. Some have fixed it, others have not. I seem to be in the have not category. I've emailed the reseller in the past and all they could think of was to reinstall the driver and see if that fixes the problem. At the time it did. But I'm guessing it never did.

I'm open to any and all suggestions to help solve the problem.

Wireless issues with p150hm, keeps saying can't turn on, even with the windows network diagnostic and even the hotkey. How to fix? Have reinstalled etc, and opened laptop everything's connected fine.
