After reading up in the forums where it was stated the 2Gb cards don't work in our systems, I bought one of the 4Gb cards which had the Sager/Clevo branding, and that card worked properly in my 150HM. I haven't tried them myself, but from what I've read here and other places, I wouldn't try (unless you have a guarantee you can return if it doesn't work).

If I buy a video card from the laptop MSI gt 60 one on 4GB, it moderately overclocked. It will work for me and can I return it to its original state prior to the acceleration?

reversing overclocks is not a problem, as long as the clocks are not hard-flashed into the vbios of the card when u buy it. as long as theyre software overclocks, the gpu will run at stock clocks when installing it in ur system.

MSI cards tend to actually be a little underclocked off the bat. Their machines do have that boost button but that essentially forces the clock speeds to go back to what the reference card should be at, maybe slightly higher. If you were able to get an MSI card working in the 8150 I'd be of the mind that it'd stick to those default lower speeds as opposed to the default clocks the cards are supposed to run at.

It's the p0 vs P1 state they used to use for gpu boost (which did end up being reduced clocks to full clocks). You could force P1 if you want the lower clocks through nvidia inspector if you really wanted.

The 6970m in my NP8150 died recently (would only recognize as VGA adapter, only boot into Windows after removing drivers in safe mode, then soon stopped showing anything on screen, no improvement after fresh Windows install). I was having trouble finding what I knew would be a compatible 7970m and didn't want to spend $700+ for the 680m, so I picked up a cheap 675m that had been pulled from another Clevo. Upon installing it, though, I still get the same black screen when powering on and neither the HDMI nor DVI outputs anything either. From what I can tell, however, the computer otherwise seems to be booting normally.

Since I do not recall when I might have updated the BIOS/EC--if ever--will the 675m not work with whatever version shipped with my computer back in May 2011? Or is the 675m probably also dead?

    Thank you

id definitely see to it that u update ur rig to the latest bios and ec first before drawing any hasty conclusions :) u think u got enough juice left in ur 6970m in order to do a successful flash? baking it might give u the extra time u need...

The 6970m seems to be dead as dead can be (I should have mentioned I already baked after trying just about everything else).

If it really is just an issue of the BIOS being out of date, though, would my screen really be completely black? I had thought I might still see a Sager logo or something on startup.

I'm not sure the 675m was ever tested in the machine. There are subtle bios differences between it and the 580m. If the bios is unhappy it can cause a black screen since without it nothing can start.

yeah i was also trying to remember if the 675m was even compatible with our machine. the 580m definitely is (which is the same card), but afaik people flashed their 580m to a 675m and it still worked?! not sure though....in any case, when swapping to a newer gpu first rule of business is to always update the ec and bios to the latest version first!

They did flash it yes, but not all machines liked it, those cards would work in machines that worked with the 675M though.

I have a p150HM and my HD 6970M graphics card broke. Is it possible to replace it with a Alienware M17x R3 HD 6970M?
I know its the graphics card cause i fixed it by baking it but it only lasted for some months and last time i baked it I fried it :(
Anyone know which other G-cards is supported by this machine?

What about a Clevo Nvidia GTX 680M 4GB SLI, N13E-GTX-A2, MXM 3.0B interface?
Again i wonder if it will work on my P150HM, I wonder if SLI means SLI compatible or if its configured only for SLI? Ive seen some ppl trying this card but hard to find out if its plug and play or not.

its plug and play, u just need to install modified drivers for it to run properly.

SLI in this case should mean SLI-compatible, unless its a kit with two cards.

safest bet for you would be to search specifically for a P150HM upgrade kit on ebay, that way u can be sure u have a compatible card with the correct vbios and complete heatsink with screws, heatpads, etc.

    cheers

It's a dell card. PCB markings, capacitor placement/absence (top edge of card), stickers there or not there.

Hm. Lately there's been coming quite some whining noise from the middle of my P150HM (i7 2720qm and 6970m).. Coil whine sounding... is it something to worry about? Something that can be done anything about?

That I am. A new Crucial MX100 256GB. Even before the 6970m has acted odd though. Making noises when drawing inside photoshop (for instance) and such. Just a weird thing. How I wish they had made it this laptop with some sort of onboard gpu

I dont think it's the SSD. Doesn't sound like it comes from that area.

Shame they didnt go a bit further and put the intelgrated gpu to use.

But yeah, I guess it's my wacky AMD ****. They can't even make proper drivers for it. All the later ones give this weird flickering when clocks change (I'm using "clock profiles" in ATT).

Do you guys figure it could be possible to change the internal webcam? I find the p150hm one ("Bison" webcam) incredibly bad, it needs so much lightning for it to even have the slightest use (there's not even exposure control)

Hm. I dont have that cam tool but I really assume it's similar to this one (default windows one), right?
    [IMG] [IMG]

Only thing that could help on brightness (fiddling with gamma or brightness doesnt improve anything) would be exposure and it seems like this terrible webcam doesn't allow that.

I'd rather have some VGA resolution camera that has proper lightning rather than some 2.0mp thing that is useless once the sun is down.

    Hi guys. I have a Eurocom Racer (Clevo P150HM) with a HD6990M.
Everything works like a charm, but when I try to update the Catalyst driver, the brightness control stops working on Windows 8.1.
I need then to reroll to the Eurocom driver, which is kinda old and will probably give me a bad performance on new games.
Is there a way to get a up to date driver without losing the brightness controls?

alrighty, here are the details for the brightness fix (worked for me with the 7970M which has the same issue under win8/8.1):

    start cmd.exe, type regedit

    In: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> ControlSet001 ->Control -> Class -> {4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} -> 0000

    KMD_EnableBrightnessInterface2REG_DWORD 0x00000000 (1)

Change value from 1 to 0 (from ONE to ZERO).

Do that for brightness on Windows 8 with an AMD card with any set of drivers past present or future. :)

    Don't forget to reboot afterwards!

    cheers

Because it is now confirmed that HDMI will work on the P150HM when upgraded to HD7970M I will go for it and exchange my 6990M.
Can someone recommend me a seller who sells this card?
I have only found one 7970M v1.2 Clevo on Ebay for €395. Is this is a good price?

I read through alot of the post but still cant find a proper answer. I was about to do a clean install of windows 8.1, was wondering will windows update be enough for all the drivers? also how about the chipset, IME and Rapid Storage drivers? will windows update provide as well or i need to install using the original driver cd? because even the latest sager driver is for windows 7 only. or do i actually need those IME/Rapid storage drivers? not sure about the function tho

for basic functionality u dont need any extra drivers. i would still look online for the latest driver iterations of all ur hardware components including chipset, IME, IRST, card reader etc. to ensure u get the max. performance. i know its a hassle but its worth it, trust me ;) i can recommend www.station-drivers.com for hard-to-find proprietary drivers.

    Hey guys.

I was wondering if anyone could give me some instructions on how to remove my sim card reader from the second mini pcie slot.

I wanted to use that slot to run an external desktop graphics card, but could not find any official instructions on how to do that.

Any help would be really appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm eyeing a cheap Clevo P150HM with a defective 6970m, which I might try to bake. If baking does not fix it, I wan't to swap my 5870m from my older MSI GX660 to the Clevo, is that possible? And would a BIOS update be necessary on the GPU?

EDIT: Also how would the cooler work? Is the MXM also a standard for coolerfitting?
