Yeah, Realtek HD is a sound codec... but which one? ALC888? ALC688? Running AIDA64 would reveal this information.

In hardware, "audio codec" refers to a single device that encodes analog audio as digital signals and decodes digital back into analog. In other words, it contains both an Analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and Digital-to-analog converter (DAC) running off the same clock. This is used in sound cards that support both audio in and out, for instance.

    (Source: Wikipedia... of course)

Oh I see what you mean. I haven't had any major reports of problems on the NP8150 as of late :) You should be safe to buy one. If I may ask, which country are you buying from?

Yes, but I wasn't sure if you were referring to the software or the hardware specifically. As for the Realtec, the specific chipset is the ALC892.

    Hope this helps :)

Was bored and had some free time so I upgraded cpu to 2860QM, used IC Diamond 7. Don't have any benchmarks, coretemp's about 35-55 degrees C. Hardest part was finding a vendor selling the cpu.

    Congrats!

All I did over the forum being broken was

    1. Reported lower price of newegg's hyperX modules to Amazon,

    2. Got them to pricematch at 119.99,

    3. Bought 2 kits.

    :D They're on their way!

Hi, well as many of you, Im the pride owner of a sager 8130 from Malibal, when the laptop arrived i was amazed of the speed but, i noticed that the processor speed changed from 2.4 to 3.2 because turbo boost, so when i played emulators (pcsx2, dolphin) the speed always changed to 3.2, and some cpu benchmarks (prime95), and when i play team fortress 2 the speed was stuck in 2.4, so after a little research i was enlightened with an application that enables the proc to go at 3.2. i did 2 benchmark tests on 3dmark06, going from 15000 (2.4) to 16000 (3.2) despite the cpu test part was quite the same, the 3dmark score changed, so this app is ThrottleStop you can get it on Downloads | Tech|Inferno, and when u run it, u must check the "set multiplier" check box and put the list box in "turbo", and then click in the "turn on" button, (sry if my english is bad but i think that this might help somebody) cheers and thx Malibal, Xcelent laptops!

Any Sager machine customized at the Sager facility will not have added bloatware. They install a clean copy of Windows 7 without any extras added by them. It will be just like installing a retail version yourself!

Yes we install the following on every build, besides all the latest drivers (We maintain our own driver set that is far and away more up to date then what sager / clevo makes available, including using protection suite 2011 instead of 2009 for the fingerprint)

    - Adobe Acrobat 10.1
    - Adobe Flash
    - Adobe Air
    - C++ Runtime 2005/2008/2010 (X86 and X64)
    - .Net 4.0
    - Java (X64 and X86)
    - MSXML 4.0
    - Latest DirectX updates
    - Every single windows update that is applicable at the time we build the machine

We install all the above for two reasons, yes all the benchmarks we do: (We keep the results and temp logs on the laptop so you can see exactly how it did) (We run each 3 times)

    - Unigine Heaven
    - PCMark Vantage
    - 3DMark 11
    - Alien vs Predator
    - Intel board validation tools

All require something from the above to run, in addition to the games that we play on every laptop (by hand) a mix of: (Depending on how we are feeling) (We keep the temp logs for these too on the laptop)

    - Crysis 2
    - TF2
    - BF:BC2 (BF3 when it comes out)
    - Rage

They require the per-requisites above also. So we install them, so when you get your laptop its already in game ready condition, don't have to install half a dozen runtimes or anything, just install your game and go.

Thats a little insight about how our build process is a little different =)

The CPU will never be your bottleneck when gaming, even with the 2630. You'll only run into it as a bottleneck if you're doing highly threaded intensive apps like video encoding/virtual machines.

    Greeeeeeeeeeeeat news for me!

The local P150HM reseller has just lowered their prices! (and it's a hell of a "lowering" or whatever I should be saying in english... sorry, I'm a little happy, can't think right when I'm happy hahahah)

Now I can get the 2630QM + HD6970 + 750GB 7200RPM + 8GB RAM for just $200 more than I would pay in US AFAIK... since I'll have local warranty and support from them, I'll but it here...

Basically, they lowered the price of the 2630QM + 8GB RAM + 750GB to the same price the 2520M + 4GB RAM + 500GB HDD I was planning to buy, and they lowered the i5's price too, but anyway, I'll get the 2630QM.

And btw, has anyone noticed ANY kind of noise coming from the sound outputs when moving your mouse, making the CPU or GPU work, stuff like that?

Thank you all guys, and I hope I'll soon be posting in the Clevon P150HM owners lounge as an owner.

    Just in time!

Yeah, somthing like that, but different of interferencce caused by cell phone activity...

Hearing noises coming from the speakers or headphones when you move the cursor or makes the CPU or GPU work (basically, doing anything that will draw any power) is pretty common may generate a interference on the motherboard, something to do with poor voltage refgulation across the board. Happens even to board like the ASUS P5K Premium WiFi/AP... happened in a much lower level with my P5QL-E and never happened to my P7P55D-E LX, but since it uses a VIA codec, and the other ones use Realtek, when I heard the Clevo P150HM uses Realtek I got a bit fearsome it could present these noises.

I think I know what you're trying to say.

The screen is firm when you try to open it up.

But it can be "super-little" wobbly when you flick the screen after it's open.

Can anyone recommend me a way to fix stripped screws?

Dang, one of the GPU screws are stripped real bad, and I can't get it out even with the rubber band trick.

The tech factory didn't fix it.. although I asked them to...

If it's totally stripped, you have 3 options (in order of complexity):

    1) Purchase a stripped screw removal bit/screwdriver. It's designed to dig in and remove it.

    2) Use a dremel or something similar to grind a flat head slot into the screw

    3) Drill the screw out completely

The last two there are final measures type solutions and can cause some collateral damage. The rubber band trick is the easiest and most useful, but that didn't give you any luck :(

    hello fellow 8150 users
    i have a 8150 with a gtx 485m
i noticed when the laptop is not properly cooled and the temp is allowed to rose up to the range of 96 degree celcius +
the laptop would hang and will require a hard reset
i wonder if this is a safety feature or is my card faulty ?

    Define "properly cooled".

The temps should never be as high as 96C. Have you been overclocking?

just doing some graphic intensive gaming on it with the back lifted a little by putting 2 tiny supports
probably less than half an inch

what im wondering if upon reaching a dangerous temp, should the sager behave the same way as my unit ?
    or is it abnormal ?

That is not normal. When you start getting above 95 C you are definitely in the danger zone. Have you repasted the CPU and GPU recently? A lot of the thermal compounds will be better than the stock compounds on these machines, but it may not make a big enough difference in this case. I would recommend contacting your reseller and setting up an RMA if that isn't successful.

    what is your ambient temp?

i live in the philippines and it gets quite hot here sometimes, even indoors.
in those cases i have to prop up my laptop and turn the fans to max with fn+1 or i may be hitting temps close to yours.
with those two things i get temps ranging from mid 70s to low 80s.
