Are you sure that the caddy is not in the basic case that was sent to you with the laptop in a plastic bag? Did you check all of the pockets and zippers in the case for it?

Sager does not install the Caddy if you did not order a hard drive for it :)

It will be fully installed on purchase (unless you request otherwise), but there is no ATA password, so you won't really have anything to worry about in terms of being locked out.

    OK sounds great.

One final question to get absolute clarity on this subject. Can the Intel 320 series SSD ATA user password be enabled and set in the P150HM BIOS? The answer may be obvious to you P150HM tech guys, but it's not obvious to me, and I've looked at the Clevo P15xHMx manual, Chapter 5: BIOS Utilities, and it does not mention SSDs at all.

Guys, do you know if the Clevo P150HM has some sort of miltiplier limit?

Because I can't get Turbo to go anywhere highger than 3.1GHz, even if Intel states the i7-2620M (even Engineering Samples) can do 3.4GHz (1 core) and 3.2GHz (2 cores)...

Yes, you can't overclock your P150HM

Only the P170 with an XM CPU will be able to use the multiplier.

To anyone who has a P150HM with an Intel 320 series SSD:

Does the P150HM BIOS give you the option of enabling a drive password for the SSD?

    It's not what I meant

No matter how many threads I use in any benchmark or program, it's always at a max turbo of 3.1GHz, whereas it should be 3.2GHz even with 2 cores active.

    Hmmm.
Have anyone managet to play 3D content from your P150 to the TV?
My receiver and tv have 3D. It works fine with PS3 games and NVIDIA control panel. But when watching 3D content on youtube it don't work....

What do you mean 3D content on Youtube? The only 3D support there is falls under Nvidia 3D Vision. Specifically- rendered games, certain 3D Blu-ray with specific software, and pictures/videos played through the Nvidia 3D player. Someone else can correct me, but I don't believe you can do just any source in 3D.

Have you tried gaming in 3D at all? Nvidia requires the DVI port be used to run the output in 3D to your display.

The only 3D I have tried is with NVIDIA control panel, and that worked. Used a HDMI cable to the receiver.

Your laptop retailer is the easiest place, as that guarantees that it will match and let you install the ODD bezel. However, others have had luck with ebay and other sources as well. :)

You just have to make sure it's a 12.7mm SATA caddy and it should work fine.

Just an update to my sittuation: I emailed my notebook's retailer about my i7-2620M being an ES, and they asked me for screenshots, which I sent to them yesterday. Today, they phoned me, apologizing and noticing me they'll be returning all i7-2620M since they should not be ES.

As a compensation, they'll be mailing me an i7-2720QM and thermal compound for me to replace the i7-2620M, which must be mailed back to them ASAP.

They also asked for me to be secretive to this matter, since selling ES is illegal and I could harm not just them, but also the reseller from whom they buy CPUs. They informed me they'll solve this sittuation with their reseller, to which they'll return the CPUs.

This, of couse, will not affect warranty.

    You are my reseller :)
I want to know if I purchase the caddy from you, will the bezel be included or is that separate? Or will I need to remove the one from my DVD drive?

    Thanks

There are no P150HM with plastic finish, are there?

I opened my notebook today and found a sticker on the motherboard which contained P151HM1, among other numbers and letters...

Gotta love third world countries... first, an ES, and now a P151HM1 which should be a P150HM.

The Motherboards of the 2 models are the same so the numbering you see is not strange.

All P150HM-8150's are rubberized, not plastic.

An ES in your machine, now that is strange. :)

So, mine is a P151HM1, which doesn't bother me at all...

As for the ES, the retailer apologized and offered me a 2630QM as replacement...

I'm trying to convince them to give me a 2720QM, since it's their fault AND I bought the 2620M for its higher clocks, since I don't use many well multi-threaded applications.

Hi all, this is my first post! My NP8150 from XoticPC arrived last Friday and it's now sitting at my house in the box because I'm out of town at work until Thursday :(

I had a quick question though, is the NIC upgradeable in the future? I ordered it with the stock card and now I'm thinking I'm probably going to want to upgrade it if possible.

    Thanks

PS. I'll be posting a review of my experience with Xotic (great) once I'm home and have cleaned the drool off my new lappy.

Not only is it fairly easy to upgrade, you should only need to purchase the new wireless module. Three antennas should already be present if you decided to bump all the way up to the Bigfoot 1103 or the Intel 6300.

    ARGH.

Just got a Malibal and no OS. I have a Win 7 disk and the drivers disk but I cant boot from Win disk b/c it asks for drivers; none of the drivers on the drivers disk (copied to USB) seem to satisfy it (I figured its the SATA drivers for the HD access, but nope).

How did you get it to work!?! I cant seem to find any documentation about this.

I think this got sorted out in the other thread, but I'll post it here in case anyone else runs into this issue in the future.

Long story short, Windows 7 has issues installing from USB 3.0 ports.

hi. please try to refrain from too much nomenclature.

NCIX US - Buy SLD3-25SAT3-120G - OCZ Solid 3 120GB 2.5IN SATA3 SandForce SF-2281 SSD Solid State Disk Flash Drive - OCZ Technology - Great price and fast delivery

i'd like to buy this solid state drive for my p150hm but i have a few questions as i'm fairly foreign to the concept.

-are there compatibility issues i have to be concerned with with buying this solid state drive?
-if i opted for this solid state drive, would that mean i'd effectively be removing my 500GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 16MB Cache) and would not able to use it as a secondary drive for storage at all or would there be a way to use both without some diy process (i'm quite inept with diy).
-are there any other pertinent points i need to consider in purchasing this solid state drive? i personally love the p150hm and would love to utilize for the foreseeable future.. seems all the more plausible with this solid state drive.

If you don't mind using the cd drive, you can get a HDD caddy and put your 500gb hdd there where the cd drive goes. It is stealth and you wouldn't even be able to tell

Yes that would be your only option as the NP8150 only has one hard drive bay which your SSD will use once you add it.

An external hard drive is the only other option

    Hey guys,
Having some issues with refresh rates when hooking my NP8150 up via HDMI cable to a 40inch LCD (120Hz). Im not sure how to describe the problem other than to say that when playing games on it (e.g. Crysis 1), if I look around at a regular pace I can see the refreshing of the screen, or things will jump around. Doesnt happen whatsoever on my notebook screen and it doesnt seem to tax my GPU more when im playing on the TV. Any ideas where the problem may lie?

It's definitely still playable, Id just like to figure out where the issue is as the game look fantastic on the laptop screen.

    Ive got a 6990m.

tbh, I cant remember. My bro bought the cable, and I was just trying it out when I was back at my parent's place. It was brand new, I think rocketfish, and reading at least what the packaging said it claimed to handle 240Hz and enough bandwidth for 3D. Havent tried a different cable, as unfortunately I dont have another. Ill see if I can get my hands on one.

Driver version was september's version. Ive recently upgraded to the most recent, so ill repost when I try again tomorrow. Hopefully it will fix the problem.

Thanks for your help Larry, always good to hear from someone more technically capable than I am.

I know my standards are low, but WOW is Crysis beautiful. Especially considering it's 5 years old :O ! Fun game too.

The only way to use mSATA would be with a 2.5" converter in the hard drive bay. There are also some pin mods out there, but it would obviously void your warranty.

    hi.

still enjoying my p150hm but i still have a few more questions.
is there a guide somewhere that will teach me how to overclock my 6990m? i'm still quite the amateur with this stuff.. i.e., out how much higher can i raise my core clock and memory clock beyond the standard 715/900.
i know there are lots of options in terms of programs to overclock with and i'd still like to read up on something so i know i'm not deeping too far in so to say.

Actually the 6990M can handle 80-90C nicely while gaming and benching! With this models good fan/cooling it has been doing well in the temp department.

These new cards like the 6990M are designed with these temps in mind. :)

Check out the ATI OverDrive inside of the Catalyst Control Center and any related documents :)

Arguably it is the best buy in comparison with the G53, if you go with an upgraded video card. Note that the current G53SX has a 2GB, 128-bit memory bus GTX 560M while the P150HM comes with a 1.5GB, 192-bit memory bus GTX 560M, which is better overall in performance.

It doesn't have the backlit keyboard and "gamer" look that the G53 does, but you can always look into resellers with skinning/painting options if you need a little extra "flair." :D

    also the G53 is kinda massive. 15.6" x 11.9" x 0.8" - 2.0"
    vs the p150: 14.8"(L) x 10.08"(D) x 1.38-1.69"(H)
Nearly 1 inch longer 1.8 inches deeper and .3 thicker. I am really curious to see where the G53 is .8" thick saw one in person before deciding against them and well it was a brick. Maybe with the screen open the front is that thin................. The only thing the G53 has going for it in comparison to a clevo is the dual hdd bays(assuming it still has those as it seems to have lost 64bit of memory bus somewhere . No telling what else has gone missing.)

Hey, for those who still remember the problems I have been having with Battlefield 3 and my concerns over my machine's stability (posted between pages 410-412 of this thread) I have an update.

I had my first BSOD since I ran a clean install of my drivers and took out my old RAM that occurred while browsing Youtube on Firefox. As I was advised I had installed WhoCrashed to get some feedback on my crashes.

Heres the anylsis of the BSOD which occured while browsing YouTube on Firefox (no other applications were open) from WhoCrashed:

On Sat 11/12/2011 1:29:34 AM GMT your computer crashed

I still get the "Battlefield 3 has stopped working" crashes but not as frequent as it was straight after launch - I can manage to play a decent string of games, sometimes a few hours at a time, without crashing. I'm still waiting for a big fix patch to be released from EA.

I don't know what to do with the WhoCrashed report from here so I would be grateful for any help or advice on what to do next. With my limited knowledge I am starting to question my Windows software to be at fault...

PS: I installed the new nVIDIA beta drivers 285.79 with the clean install option checked yesterday.

    Cheers

pepi18, it looks like that its the game itself.
I do have some sporadic crash on launch as well on my desktop system, so dont bother about it. Sometimes i have to force the game to start 2 times, but after that, im ok for hours.

It can suddenly crash for some reason, or not. Its the game itself, dont worry about it.

However you need a proper way to clean install the drivers. Clean install option doesnt do anything ,you still have leftovers of the precedent driver, which can cause huge troubles.

If you want, check the guide in my signature.

Can this be considered the best bang-for-the-buck 15-inch gaming laptop?

Without dubt, yes. I had the g53sw which was considered the best bang for the buck, but i had to think it over again.
Thanks god i sold it without loosing too much money, and my current config came for 1400.
You can keep the default 2630qm and stick a 6990/6970 if youre into AMD and save quite alot.

I have to confirm, are you referring that the P150HM is better than the G53SX? So a 192-bit memory bus is better than 128-bit even though the former has more RAM than the latter?

How does it compare with the P151HM1? Is the HM67 chipset that the P150HM has better than the HM65 in all ways? What is their difference anyway?

Is it best to buy a gaming laptop now or should I wait for Ivy Bridge to come which is a few months from now?

What made you decide to sell the G53?

This is amazing, one of the best threads regardings Clevo's P150HM laptop on the internet, if not THE best!

I've taken my time and read literally every single page on this thread, yes 420 pages (took me approximately 2 weeks, with side skipping to other threads linked within this thread).

I've read about overclocking, underclocking, undervolting, firmware problems, benchmarking and much much more. All of this information boosted my understand of the Clevo P150HM. This is also my first time posting on this forum and my first time discovering the firm. Clevo (if not counted the hundreds of Clevo barebone laptops I've encountered without knowing).

I could write a novel on everything I've learned, everything that has been posted, a very indept summary of this whole thread, but I will choose to do otherwise and simply end my journey with one simple question.

    I have a limitation of 3400$
I could buy everything needed to create the ultimate P150HM with the current upgrades available today.

But my gut has been telling me to wait past christmas/new-year to see the glorious and new amazing upcoming Ivy Bridge, not to mention the all around discussed nVidia GTX 600 series and AMD Radeon 7000 series.

All of this is to be "released" at Q1.

Now do you guys think this is a sweet idea (to wait for the new releases) or do you think these new products be postponed at 2012..?

I think if you were to ask the hundreds of owners that chime in on this forum they would say YES!

Not only is it the best bang-for-the-buck in a 15" laptop it is also the easiest to work on and upgrade down the road. ;)
