Hmmmm... PL1 throttle still not solved. Even after Prema BIOS. Only thing left for me now is complete OS reinstall. It worked yesterday and today curse hit the system again. :(

BF5 start normally with 42x multiplier. Then HWINFO display power limit exceed and instantly my PL1 drop to 31.625W. When that happens CPU multiplier also drop to 36x-37x range. this will stay like that during the game.

Biggest issue is once I exit the game PL1 still not recover back to 95W and stay at 31.625W. Only after system restart i can get it back to normal values. so until i restart, my CPU multiplier never go to 42x. whenever i start any multithreaded application clock will drop to 36x due to power limit issue.

I attached HWINFO screen shots. I'll email Prema and see what he has to say about this issue.

To the person asking then some shunt modification is always possible where there are shunt resistors to measure the power.

Hmmm, I don't even have this "PL1 power limit" thing in that section, isn't it weird?

You can get it back to regular layout by right clicking and resetting to defaults. I've dragged them by accident a bunch of times.

How do you set these limits now? Maybe that is the case.
I've got basically same machine by "important" specs (775tm1g + rtx gpu + 9 gen cpu + prema bios). With Intel XTU there was some weirdness happening, but since i've exterminated XTU and tweaked everything directly in bios, it works as expected.
Also i avoid "overclocking" section of CCC, and even set to disabled some overclock-related parameter in CCC's INI file, if it means anything. Just in case.

I set everything through bios. Prema gave me some advice so going to test them today and doing full os reinstall if it's not working as well. Let's see.

Anyway can you see PL1 values in Hwinfo if you remove CCC? I removed it and now PL1 informations gone.

Prema told me to remove CCC and increase PL1 & PL2 to 300000. Also told me to disable C states and select windows ultimate power plan.

I don't want to remove CCC now to test this, but i'm sure it was there when i tried without CCC. In fact, only difference was keyboard lights and fan control.
Strange things are going on there, mine just works, after i just tweaked it like if you'd set up regular desktop.
For CPU, I've left default powerlimits of Prema's bios (120/180), and most of the other settings, and only changed multipliers and voltage, it was enough.

btw, windows "balanced" power plan causes CPU to behave weirdly and generally clock lower, under gamey load it boosts for short time, and then locks at 3800 mhz (base for 9600k is 3700?)
with ultimate, boosts to max at all times.
I actually use this behaviour to my benefit: for most tasks, even games, lower clock is enough, but CPU consumes near half the power of full boost.

Ah no need to uninstall anything. Just want to know if you notice this. I want to do the same as you. Leave everything default and change multipliers and voltages. But system has other plans for me...
I still think my issue is OS related. But I'll do Prema recommended stuff first.

I always use high performance power plan. I never heard of ultimate power plan until prema mentioned about it.

Update regarding PL1 throttle and PL1 value not recovering until restart:

Complete OS reinstall fixed the issue and so far working well. No more PL1 exceeded massage on hwinfo and maintaining all core boost (42x without any AVX offset) when play BF5.

    During BF5 CPU temps stabilize around 82-85°C /GPU 72-75°C (ambient 22-24°C)

I'll do more game play testing today. I didn't install CCC, only hotkey driver.

Btw can you guys see Thunderbolt on device manager. I cant see the device even though I installed drivers. USB C devices working.

Does the NP9176 have cooling issues with the 9700k processor? I just got done with a round of playing Wolfenstein Youngblood and HWiNFO says my CPU package hit 103C.

I have set all core to boost 42x without AVX offset and -100v undervolt. When I play BF5 with max fan (Fn+1) CPU hit 82-84°C and GPU 72-74°C.

Try to repaste and replace thermal pads on your system if undervolt not reduce your temperature. Set all core boost to 42-44x multiplier.

Also lift up your laptop's back using bottle caps(I use 0.5mm thick felt pads). Which allow fans to suck in more air to heat sink.

I better not have to repaste, this system is only two months old and is supposed to have Kryonaut on it...

What did you use to set your boost and undervolt? I hear Intel XTU is supposed to be crap.

From where you purchase the laptop? I always like to repaste myself. So I know I did it correctly. Good thermal pads help you to reduce temperature as well.

I always use bios to set up values. Go to overclock section and set powerlimt 1 to 95000 (95W) and powerlimit 2 to 1.25xpl1 value. Then select desired values for cores. Then go to processor section and select adaptive voltage, set the undervolt value(100) and (-).

    Throttlestop

Testing things on the fly within windows and avoiding the hassle of no boot nvram clearing is a far superior option imo

Max undervolt can be found within minutes by slowly moving the offset in the FIVR window more negative, while a stress test is running in the background. I find x264 encode is the most sensitive for non avx, if you go in -5mV increments it'll likely error out or app crash rather than BSOD, saving you the wait for a reboot. Hwinfo also has a few error displays right down the bottom of the sensors window that are a sign of borderline instability

Once stable settings are figured out then I replicate them in bios.

So basically tweak using Throttlestop while I'm doing a big x264 encode file in the background to find the stable settings?

Only thing that's kept me from just buying the fan is the fact that I have a backup laptop with pretty good specs too, so it's no loss if I can't use my main one for a while. Now if I didn't have another laptop that'd be a different story haha.

I seem to be having a new issue where my laptop will shutdown if I leave it to idle. I'll go away for a while and come back to it shut off. I used to be able to leave it on over night and it would still be on. Kinda annoying really. I've tried everything I could think of.

Perhaps you could try out this ICC profile provided by notebookcheck.
Their review points to a chassis whose display should be identical to yours.

EDIT: This might even be a closer match for your hardware, based on this review.
For some reason, despite being identical display panels on both systems, their calibration profiles are slightly different. For instance, the newer chassis in the reviews with the RTX 2080 has a display panel with a much higher brightness (361 cd/m² Average: 327.9 cd/m² ) vs the older system (32 cd/m² Average: 312.9 cd/m²).

Notebookcheck have done tests on at least half a dozen Clevos with the same 4K panel. The results are fairly consistent, within +-10% across them all, but it's the colour accuracy results that I'd look at: many of the Eurocoms they test do seem to be worse with colour accuracy (delta E's of ~6 as opposed to the approx
3 or 4 of the Shenker and other non-Eurocoms)

So after clean reinstalling windows with no drivers really installed and what windows installs, my laptop is still shutting down when left to idle. This leads me to think it's something else that's causing it to happen. Maybe faulty PSU/battery?
