large drive is one reason but looking for endurance drive that will be able to do 300-400gb writes per day and still last years. that 1tb crucial probably uses some 19/20nm flash has lower endurance compared to intel's HET-MLC flash. but 800gb for 2.1k LOL not gonna bother, was hoping to see some 1600 or 1500 but too much to ask, it did just came out though.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If you need that level of quality and endurance you will need to spend a little unfortunately.
-
let the waiting game begin!.. at least half a year wait time. just wish sata express wont be out for another 2 years lol
-
cant wait till Q3 2013, ivy EP 10c/20t or 12c/24t in this beast
-
If you're doing 300-400GB of writes in a day, and are worried about wearing the drive out, then the upcoming intel S3700 will be something you'll want to keep an eye on. Although I don't think the larger one would fit in any lappie form factor except perhaps the larger Clevo or AW machines in which there are stacked drive bays.

What's the best config to buy at the moment? I've been looking at the X570SE almost daily now and really wondering what I should snag. o_o
I figure that the stock CPU option is plenty for games, so GPU-wise, Not sure I'd need anything greater than SLI 670MXs, but I tend to want to future proof-myself so I'd go for the 675MX SLI option instead. Anyone have any idea what I should snag here aside from that?
Ordering from Malibal.com.
-
Lol, 10char
-
For gaming, the upgrade from SLI 670MX to SLI 675MX is $100. If you were to buy this computer I would go with the latter, but then again if you are just going for the 3820 it makes little sense to go with the P570WM, compared to a P9370.
-
Well the L3 cache is what I need. The games I play tend to use only one or two cores anyhow... so the larger the L3 cache, the better in this case.
-
I wanna buy this machine when ivy EP comes out but there are still the same few issues kinda preventing me from getting it.
17 inch - just barely acceptable.. lol
plastic chassis - tmight break?
storage - 1 drive bay less than M18x
performance - only two Sata 6G, older chipset
keyboard - so so keyboard
overheating - biggest reason, which is why I need ivy EP in it, 80-100 watt TDP should be good
news articles indicate sata express will be out later this year, which means Sata express SSD rated at 1 GB/s should be on market 3-6 months after that, but then theres always issue with chipset compatibility, so probably earliest of us getting SATA express is next year June/July when intel release new chipset that is compatible and equips with sata express.
the same goes for DDR4 memory..=/
waiting game begins again! -
You'll be waiting a long time for ddr4 and other goodies. 12C 100W Xeons sound great but do you have 2k+ extra?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
DDR4 only got finalised recently, now we have IC and memory controller development before we see results.
-
There is an Anandtech article on the P570WM right now. Apparently, AVADirect are going to start pre-orders now.
Pretty neat. -
from what i've read, avadirect is pretty legit.
@aikimox $2k for xeon CPU, probably not. but then when it does come out, I'll figure out a way somehow to get my hand on it lol. its like saying a 20inch alienware laptop or a mobile CPU with 6c/12t, I have to buy it =( -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
One problem with Xeons is that this generation they are all locked down tight, so you would have to do it via the base clock.
-
what do you mean? I thought all server CPUs arent overclockable. do you mean haswell and later will support overclocking on server cpus?
-
If at all I'd go with a Xeon, since cores and caches matter more to me than mere clock frequency. I'd even settle with a single GPU, but there are two other limitations which actually distract me from this machine: no mSATA and that poor 32GB SODIMM limit, which I don't expect to improve anytime soon.
-
The Xeons on LGA 1366 were overclockable.
I agree; it is upsetting. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
All 2011 Xeons are locked like non-k/X cpus.
-
so will there be LGA2011 server CPU in the future that are overclockable?
if only they could bring that 32 GB limit to 48, highly doubt it though, making two extra slots for ram doesnt really make sense does it? or a 16GB SODIMM RAM stick isnt likely to happen until DDR4... another year or two? -
I honestly don't see the problem with only being able to use 32GB of RAM.
Like you'll EVER realistically need that much RAM. I'd get it just for the sake of having it. XD
-
run 4 vmware with 2 gb of ram each, 20gb ramdisk, that leaves only 4 gb of ram left to use.. video editing a 2gb file size in some adobe software takes up 8gb LOL
having 48gb sure is nice -
It is unknown if any server grade CPUs will be overclockable, but I doubt it. Furthermore, obviously this computer needs sixteen exabytes of memory.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I don't think Intel is going to be changing it, they want you to buy the consumer chips to do that.
Hopefully there will be a fully enabled chip though. -
p570 is available on avadirect eurocom and malibal
would powernotebooks have them soon? the same goes for xoticpc -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
We both being Sager resellers, we have to wait until Sager offers it before we can do the same. Avadirect and Malibal are both builders, I'm not sure about Ava but Malibal I know to be a Eurocom buyer and why they'd have it currently. Sager should have it up before too long though. No official word on dates yet as far as I've heard. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Dito from us on that one at the moment.
-
We got'em up, Clevo is finally pushing them out en-masse =)
And we have some awesome exclusive features:
- RST 12.0 (TRIM Enabled) on every one.
- Custom BIOS with BIOS based overclocking
And some other features we can't quite talk about yet
-
I noticed
on your facebook hahahaha
CAN'T WAIT MUHAHA -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Just put them up for the Sager release!

Yes after sooooo.. long it is here....of course the model names have changed. ..
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Did you get tingles? I know I did. -
You guys are weird
-
Did you mean the custom BIOS is available on ALL models (Clevo, Sager) or Myth exclusive?
-
Seeing as we are writing it, it'll be our exclusive
-
the config on your site looks great. any chance ivy EP will be on the cpu list when it comes out?
-
Of course, so long as it works
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes unfortunately no one can guarantee intel won't make a last minute change meaning a bios update wont work. Hopefully they wont do this to owners/builders but you can never be sure with intel.
-
change for x79? its been out for a long time now not saying its not gonna change though.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Change for ivy bridge E to work with the current motherboards, any sort of power delivery tweaks could render all boards out obsolete.

I have not watched it entirely, but it looks pretty awesome. -

Thanks! Be sure to leave your feedback on the video. The same guy who handles the Youtube channel makes the videos as well. -
