Has anyone actually succesfully Played the PS3 or X360 on there clevo/sager laptop?
Reason for this Hutsady is because there are games that are only on console atm, such as GTA, and I am overseas so I don't want to buy a TV and have to ship it back home when I dont need another tv![]()

Received my NP9280-S a few days ago and I am very pleased with the machine. Stuck in a Samsung 840evo and the thing flies. Serious benchmark buster. Ordered directly from Sager and they shipped the machine out in under 24hrs, and it took UPS 3 days to get it to my doorstep in Hong Kong. Didn't have to pay any import taxes so everything went smoothly. Like to thank Brian at Sager and Derek at XoticPC who helped with my questions. My first Sager but should be ordering an NP7370 in a couple weeks if this one works out well.
Question 1: Can I remove the Sager logo on the cover? All the other stickers came off without a hitch.
Question 2: Anybody else experiencing BT issues with the Intel AC card? The wifi speeds are amazing paired with my Asus AC router but BT recognition is iffy, sometimes the BT is recognized by the machine, and at other times it plain disappears from my device manager. I believe it to be a driver issue but their aren't many drivers to experiment with currently.
Question 3: While gaming I am experiencing stuttering but this occurs during very high fps and a not very demanding game (Dota 2), any ideas?
Thanks! -
You *CAN* remove the Sager logo, but it should have been requested prior to delivery. I don't know if they'll be happy about that. No idea about #2. As for 3, that sounds very weird; the only thing I can think of is that the game is odd. If you vsync it (either in-game or forced with nVidia control panel) and it still does this, then I really couldn't say.

estatic about my my 9380-s so far. Backlit keyboard light went out but reinstalled hotkey driver and it returned. Games are looking gorgeous running at 60fps+. Havent felt a need to overclock yet. Thanks to XoticPC for my laptop. Everything is smooth so far except for the backlit keyboard issue. Anybody know how to install gta 4 and making the game recognize the sli configuration?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It should work automatically, it's just not very well coded.
-
I installed GTA 4 and it works but it looks like crap. its saying my memory exceeds the requirements. its an old game so Nvidia doesnt have a sli profile for it.
-
Guys, is there any new driver or software for the p375SM||NP9390
I tried some from CLEVO but they didn´t work.. Like the new keyboard driver...
Does someone know about this?!!? -
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Congrats on receiving it! Glad to help out. -
Yeah i would go the sager notebook website and get drivers from there. i used some of the clevo drivers and i did not have a problem with them but its best to get drivers from sager if you caN.
-
It has problems with gpus with 4GB memory configurations I believe. Likely more that's the issue than it not detecting your sli
-
Ok, I seem to have a problem. My backlighting is STUCK in the on position. I cannot use custom RGB lighting, and if I shut it off with hotkeys, it doesn't do anything. It simply restarts its cycle on its own. I believe I had reinstalled my GPU driver to an older version and it broke like that. Reinstalling the clevo hotkey software didn't do anything. Is there any advice I could get?
Also, side note, for anyone with the 780M SLI who plays sleeping dogs, do you see lines and weird things with SLI enabled in fullscreen? It hasn't happened with windowed mode so far. I thought I saw it once, but it'd have had to have been a one-time deal, as I never saw it again. Kind of disappointing since it doesn't have a borderless windowed mode I can default to T_T. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Have you tried a EC reset (remove AC and battery for a couple of mins)?
-
Was not aware that this was a way to do a reset. I could do this really easily; how long should I remove them for? 5 minutes, 15 minutes, etc? (And you mean laptop battery and AC power alone, right? Not removing CMOS from motherboard?)
EDIT: Well I installed the new vbios and my backlighting seems to have fixed itself on its own due to this, so meow I think ^_^ -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Well to answer your question yes, the EC is reset simply by removing the battery and AC (not the CMOS battery).
Glad it's all working. -
Thanks! Also, the GPU flash fixed all my fullscreen SLI issues. I'm kind of... put off by how bad the default vbios is. O_O. Like what.
-
Where can you get the new vbios?
-
From TechInferno's forums; you'd need to make 5 quality posts before you're allowed to download/see attachments etc though. They've been a literal dream; it honestly feels like I am using a different machine than this morning. The only problem I have is the 5fps, 0-5% GPU utilization stuttering in BF4, which happens randomly unless you're on 331.40 drivers, but that isn't a problem of my system.
-
What are you guys using to overclock your 780m sli setups?
-
Although I don't have SLI, I use MSI Afterburner or EVGA PrecisionX (any of those 2 will do).
-
Looks like we can add another to the club:
This should be a pretty beast of a machine, and will look sexy as hell carbon fiber wrapped to boot.

Sorry about the wireless card mix up. Once Sager gets the computer to us after they're done with it I'll see if we can make that day up here.
-
Thanks Hos, you and XoticPC have been great from the start! I hope we have a strong finish as well!
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Let me know if any questions come up in the mean time. If you get voicemail do leave one or call back a little bit later. I do sometimes have to leave my desk to go check on things for other questions. We'll shoot for that strong finish
-
Thanks will give those two a try!
Curious anybody try 2133mhz sodimms in their Sager/Clevo yet?
I'm debating between:
4 x 4gb 2133 modules
or
4 x 8gb 1866mhz modules
I'm aware the performance differences are negligible, but I like to tinker!
Thanks again! -
If you plan on livestreaming often, 2133MHz RAM helps a bit. Not exactly sure why, but it does. Not sure of any other real-world applications where you'd see it shining though.
-
Support.1@XOTIC PC Company Representative
You also might have to test a few modules. Clevo based machines in the past have become unstable with 1866 or faster. It's not every stick of RAM that does it, but it's something you'll likely run into going that route. -
I believe HTWingNut has 2133MHz sticks in his W230ST/NP7330. Look for his review thread in the owners lounge.
-
After owning this beast for over 1 month now, I gotta say that I love it. Even though I am not using it at it's full potential (I am not using SLI), I still have to say that the performance, cooling and quality are superb. My only complaint would be that you can't add custom colors for your keyboard.
-
Updated the post to phase 2 as of today - 5 days and counting. Hopefully others will find this useful as point-in-reference to the Rush Build/Skinning Option. -
D2 Ultima, I also kind of have the same problem. Keyboard backlight keys don't do anything, and the occasional blue screens when playinng games in SLI.
May I know exactly what/which vBios update you applied to solve your problem? -
Hi everyone
I am planning on getting the P370SM3, but I have some few questions that doesnt seem to be answered in this thread anywhere.
1) I am planning on populating it with 2 mSATA drives and 3 SSDs (3rd SSD in Optical Drive Slot) How is the Raid accomplished in this machine? Is theres a RAID controller of some sort on the motherboard or is it a software RAID?
2) Are all SATA ports on board SATA III? Including the two mSATA ports and the optical drive slot?
3) Anyone here knows whether the P370SM3 MB chipset supports TRIM in RAID-0 configuration or not?
Thanks -
I have had mine for a week and you will love it. I had a rush order on mine from Xotic and after the initial issue i got mine in 5 days. I did not get the copper upgrade because in reading the forums its probably not needed. It runs cool without the upgrade as long as you are not overclocking it heavily. I got the intel wireless card with the bluetooth because the bigfoot killer with bluetooth was not available when I was ordering mine. Looks like you ordered a monster and you will enjoy the laptop hopefully you can post pics of your carbon fiber wrap and let us see it.

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
It's the standard software intel raid that you get on all consumer boards.
Yes.
I have not personally checked yet. -
I believe the ODD bay is SATA II the rest are SATA III
-
Is anyone having a problem running a single AMD HD 8970M on the Sager NP9380?
I am thinking about getting one and heard that there were problems with the Enduro drivers.
The setup I want to get is the NP9380 with the i7-4700MQ, 16gb ram,250gb Samsung 840 EVO (OS & Games), ODD caddy for my 1 TB 7200rpm( data drive), Intel 7260 AC Wlan.
Thanks -
Thanks Meaker. I believe Bullrun might be correct as to the ODD slot being SATA II.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Ah that will be correct due to 4 sata 3 being the chipset limit.
-
I am about to pull the trigger and get a Sager NP9380 (Clevo p370sm) from Powernotebooks.com.
The configuration is:
i7-4700MQ, AMD HD 8970M 4GB, 16GB 1600 Ram (2x8gb), 250gb Samsung 840 EVO SSD, Intel 7260-ac WLAN. Everything else is stock.
Is there anything I should be cautious of putting together in this system (ie: Samsung SSD with WD HDD or Intel with AMD)?
Also, Do any of you think that it would be worth it to shell out an additional $300 and get the special edition of the P370SM with the 3D screen and glasses if I don't do a lot of heavy gaming?
The reason I ask is because I have read that the 120hz screen gets scan lines and banding when running certain games in 3D. I am not sure which I should get, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. -
I just received an email from Powernotebooks.com asking at same question about the ODD bay speed. He said that it was only SATA I.
-
I don't believe that is true. He must have made a mistake. Mythlogic has confirmed that the ODD Bay is indeed SATA II, and that the two mSATA and the 2.5'' are SATA III, so the total of 4 SATA III ports
-
The 120hz screen is a real gem! I haven't noticed any tearing in games. I wasn't aware that it costed an extra $300? 3d gaming using the setup is more of a gimmick that anything else I feel. I tried a few games and it wasn't a pleasant experience. Haven't tried movies yet but I can't imagine the experience on such a small screen to be too rewarding? $300 dollars can buy a lot of other upgrades such as a faster gpu or an ssd so I guess you just have to decide what's suits your individual needs more.
-
Just received my sager 9380-s last week from XoticPC and am loving it. I was a little taken back by the size of the power brick, but now that I have recovered I am loving it. Screen is beautiful. Got the 4700 with a single 780m and it is running great.
Quick question for all of you that are smarter than me on here. My GPU is running around 88, topped out once at 92. Is this normal? Is there a way to kick on the fan to turbo like some models have? It is running great, I just don't want to damage anything.
By the way, thanks to everyone on the site, this was my main research site when deciding what to get! -
It must have been a mistake on his part then....or a typo.
-
When I said it costs an extra $300, I was talking about $300 over the amount of the system I described above. The only difference would be the GTX 780 and the 120z screen with the 3d glasses. As opposed to the Radeon HD 8970M and no 3d/Screen. Other than that, they are spot on, the same.
Thank you for letting me know about your experience with it. It is one thing to look at specs and be in awe, and another thing completely to hear about real life experiences. I was just worried, because I saw a YouTube video from a person with the same 3d setup that I wanted to get and there was banding and the whole screen was freaking out while he was playing a game. I think it must have been just his, because I couldn't find any other examples, but you just don't know until you ask around. That's why I'm here.
I have already learned so much about this laptop, and it's mostly good. So, thanks again for your letting me know. -
I have looked at movies and played a couple of games like tomb raider and crysis and they look awesome. The 3D is a gimmick for the future but you will like the 120hz screen regardless.

Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Glad to hear you're liking the computer. While 92C is OK it could be lower, did you see that while gaming or while stress testing. Did you get the IC Diamond or regular thermal paste? Also make sure the bottom of the computer is on a flat surface so it get proper air circulation. -
I got the IC Diamond, it has all just been while gaming. It only happened once, ever since my max has been 88 max. I don't remember if I had it on my lap when that happened, ever since I have had it on a cooler master stand without no extra fans on it. Is there a way to keep fan speed up? -
My current computer is fine besides the screen flashing black occasionally and a display driver failure message popping up. That doesn't happen often though. The configuration I was eyeballing was the NP9380-S, 120Hz screen, 4800MQ, 780M SLI, 16 gigs of ram (don't do anything other than game and web surfing, 16 gigs is plenty). That's as far as my build goes. As far as storage goes, I'm lost in the sauce.
Last time I was computer shopping the mSATA SSD's weren't that big. Considering long term use I was thinking about getting two mSATA Intel 525 120 GB configured in RAID 0 as my C: drive. I'm real big into media collecting and gaming. I have 90 gigs of music on my D drive and about 800 gigs of video on my external and my collection isn't getting any smaller. So plenty of storage is also a must. I was thinking about getting two 1TB 5400RPM (w/ 8GB SSD Memory) Seagate Hybrid 64MB Cache [SATA III - 6GB/s]. Are these solid HDD's?
tl;dr version
Computer for demanding games, web browsing, and movie watching.
NP9380-S
120Hz 3D screen
4800MQ
780M SLI
16 gigs of ram
x2 mSATA Intel 525 120G RAID 0 OS/C:
x2 1TB Seagate Hybrid No Raid D:/Storage
~$3500 is my max. I know the GPU/CPU combo is good so my only concern is the mSATA SSD/HDD configuration. Are mSATA SSD operating systems the new thing now? Is is replacing SATA II/III SSD operating systems? -
Are the fans as loud as all the reviewers say they are? Or are they just being nitpicky.
