You are going to RAID0 the mSATAs for storage and RAID0 the 5400RPM HDDs for OS/Boot?

I chatted with a tech from MythLogic and he said the 4930MX automatically overclocks to the 3.9 threshold and that is why people are having overclocking issues with the tdp and heat. He said the 4930MX aint worth the extra 600 bucks. ugh.....

OK, that doesn't sound backwards :D

If Mythlogic price matches let us know. XD
They are a little higher for a few reasons. They build the system, unlike Sager resellers. So, it will be a Mythlogic Nyx 3713-Black 3D (Clevo P370SM3). They have a few items added standard that others will add for a price, IC Diamond paste, monitor calibration. They also have some different hardware choices, brands. Having hands-on experience and extensive testing that they do themselves comes at a price.

thanks! i figured out there is a bug on my machine :p
its the "processor current limit", stock is at 70A, seems like nothing wrong (70A*1.2v=84W).......but stuck at 3.3g/55w tdp
set it to 100A or more (others@stock) finally let me 4 cores 3.7g 65w..........

You can never be sure how those values are calibrated or what voltage they are talking about.

Did you try the new ThrottleStop 6 BETA? Changing to 112A instead of stock 55A could bump your speeds to 3.7Ghz on all cores with no throttling. If you want to go higher, raise the TDP to at least 80W to go to 3.9Ghz (4 cores)

Almost all the values reset each time you reboot though... But it's worth give it a shot! Let us know if it'll work for you and don't forget to check the temps))

With XTU you can easily do 4.0x4 fixed, I game with that. And the settings stick, no need to re-apply them with every re-boot.

But they will never run fixed at 4.0x4, for thermal reasons. After a while, they throttle back for reaching 95+ degrees, even with fans at full blast (FN-1)

Maybe repasting will improve a bit, but for now, 3.7/3.8x4 is the maximum you can maintain without throttling.

And this is without using GPUs, pure CPU stress testing, I would guess that since one GPU share the sink with the CPU, if you also stress GPUs, it will throttle down even more.

Thinking of ordering a NP9380-S. Any experiences from international buyers?

I've checked a few sites such as the sager site and xoticpc and prices are pretty similar. Just looking for some input before I pull the trigger. Price being similar, is there really a difference where I order from? To be honest i'm leaning towards Sager cause I feel i may get the machine sooner since the other companies just order from them as well im guessing? Looking for a machine with 4900MQ and 780m in SLI with everything else being standard (according to sagernotebook site).

    Any thoughts and/or experiences welcomed.

EDIT: what warranty are you guys getting?

Good questions! Any reseller will actually have the same build times and pricing that Sager has as Sager is doing the production regardless. The only thing that would make it different if you used a service that the reseller offered while Sager did not. That would require shipping to the reseller and then shipping out to you. If you're looking at a build without those services, the build times will be identical. The benefit of going with a reseller is the additional support they offer when you need help troubleshooting issues or arranging a repair as it's much more pleasant going through a reseller for the most part.

Sagers won't have an international warranty, but you'll still have it active. For anything that needs repairs completed that would require shipment back to the US. They offer free shipping in the continental 48 for warranty claims, but sadly you'd be responsible for international shipping. For the most part though, as long as you were comfortable doing so, if a part needs replaced they can ship that to you alone for you to install.

Hey Derek, Thanks for the response.

Do you have what i'm looking for in stock?

If so how long do you think it would take to be ready for shipping?

And if I were to order the notebook would you be able to personally check for dead pixels since I am an international buyer and shipping would be quite expensive.

Also, do you offer discount to board members?

Yup, Sager currently has the machines available and I'm not aware of any parts they'd be waiting on for the build. We have our official estimates at 5-16 business days but Sager tends go get out in the 5-10 business day realm, so should be pretty fast. The only way I would personally be able to check for dead pixels is if you add an XPC service that has the machine ship to our facility so that we can lay our hands on it. Without an XPC service it'd ship directly from Sager to you. The machines are always inspected for dead pixels at Sager, but they do have a minimum requirement to consider the display being defective. The best way to get yourself covered with getting a display that has no dead pixels is to get the no dead pixel coverage. That way if even one dead pixel is discovered they get you a new display installed and check again. Dead pixels are rare, but they can pop up over time and during shipment. So if that's something your'e really concerned about I'd recommend adding that dead pixel coverage. It's more upfront but saves you in shipping costs and hassle should they be discovered when the machine arrives.

I'm not able to discuss discounts or pricing in the open forums but feel free to shoot me an email or PM and we can talk about that stuff.

Hi all, I have a few questions about the sager NP9380, NP9390 vs. NP8295 and hope someone can answer it.
The laptop size does't matter to me, and for my applications, a single GPU is enough. So I want to know if a single GPU NP9390 runs cooler than NP8295. I couldn't find any review/tests on this so I hope I can get an answer here.
The second question is about the screen options. I only see the 72% gamut matte option (which is ~150$ more than the default) for NP8295 on a few websites. I was wondering why sager didn't offer this option on their site. Is there any potential problems using this screen on NP8295?
    Thank you all in advance.

Question for anyone who or is planning to, or even a re-seller that might know.

If i ordered a barebones unit with just CPU and no MEM or VGA or HDD/SDD's , does this unit get shipped with all the necessary componants to build a working unit, i.e brackets for HDD and screws and the GPU heatsinks, and or SLI cable?

I just got one of these sager models with a 4700MQ and a single 780M, CPU temps seem fine but my GPU idles at around 50C and the highest ive seen it while playing Battlefield 3 is 88C.

    Is this normal?

    Hi guys,

I finally received my second p375sm, the first one got problems with max fan (reboot) and with the second ssd (port 1) randomly not being recognized on bios between boots.

The retailer said it was sent to factory and sent me one brand new. The point is... Again I'm getting issues with the second ssd (now 2x samsung 840 pro). I'm trying to install as raid 0 (the goal is to have 2x 128gb partitions win+lnx and a big ~690gb for storage).

But I just can't succeed installing this setup, when I try to install Windows 8 (non uefi) it shows some errors right on the first boot and doesn't start. After the reboot the Intel RST shows the second disk as "error occurred" (I swaped the disks and got the same status).

If I use 2 plextor ssd drivers I got no problem at all in raid but the Samsung drivers works perfectly when in ahci mode (not using raid) so doesn't seem to have a problem on the disk it self.

Do You guys have experienced something like this, what do you think is happening? The ssd is on latest firmware.

I remember mythlogic saying Windows 8 and the Raid options in the PxxxSM options were giving problems, and that we should not raid them. Don't remember if it was mSATA only that had this issue, but oh well.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try to install windows 7 to confirm. But strangely the raid seems to work fine with 2x 256 plextor ssds.

Edit1: installing windows 7 now, I'll let you know ASAP about the results.
Edit2: Just like happens sometimes on windows 8 the install processes froze on the "installing updates" step. I'm started again. Just to change something I recreated the raid volume with a strip size of 128 instead of 16.
Edit3: unfortunately the same error, screen attached. [IMG]

Really don't know what to do now:
1 - The plextor raid working indicates that the controller and slots is OK.
2 - The non-raid Samsung ssds working indicates that the disks are OK.
3 - I'm refusing to believe that I received two defective Clevo laptop in a row - and it is even harder to believe since it seems to work fine using the plextor ssds.

That's extremely weird. Both of them are mSATA (or non-mSATA)? If they use the same interface and one breaks but the other does not, that's extremely EXTREMELY weird.

Played some Bioshock Infinite and some more Metro 2033.

Metro: temps never above 77C (both CPu and GPU). Settings: Ultra, DX11. No advanced DOF and no tesselation). 4x MSAA. FPS was between 30-65.

Bioshock: temps never above 85 (both CPU and GPU). Settings: Ultra, AA. FPS never dropped below 70.

Agreed, really hard to understand what's going on here. The disks are 2x samsung 840 pro 512gb. Both normal ssd (no mSata) and I'm using the ports 0 and 1 (those beside the battery slot) I was using t 2x plextor ssds temporarily waiting the Samsung 840 pro arrive. Now I'm thinking about to return the Samsung disks. I received the Samsung disks on the original box factory sealed.

Another weird thing, 100% of my install attempts resulted in a serie of errors on the first boot and the system didn't start. But if I enable the uefi mode it shows just one or two erros and the system starts but I somehow feel it unstable.

I removed the Samsung disks, recreated the raid on the plextor disks and the install finishes nice and sweet. That's pretty sad since all reviewers says that the Samsung disk is a lot better.

I recorded a video showing the first boot on a install attempt. A lot of errors and then an error on one of the disks (array).

    Edit: grammar :)

Yes, two or three times on my tests. When I choose uefi it installs fine or with just one or two error only o the first boot. Strangely the performance was very low for a raid 0 setup. But since uefi don't play very well with Linux (dual boot) I prefer to wait more before jump to uefi/GPT.

Did you also try to install windows on a single drive to check if one of your ssd is bad?

Only in one of the drives, I should have tried that. When I got the os running using uefi (don't know what relation nor why using uefi the system installs) I verified the array on Intel RST app and it didn't identified any errors. I sent an email to retailer asking to change the 840 pro disks for plextor m5p xtreme but I starting to get embarrassed with so many issues.

OK, I did a much simpler test to reproduce the error now.

1 - using both 840 pro drives and rebooting repeatedly the machine, for every (around) 6 boots the second disks isn't recognized on bios.

2 - swaped the disks and did the same, again the second (same slot) disk isn't recognized in some boots.

3 - put the plextor disks once again and both disks are recognized 100% of the boots.

They are going to send two more Samsung 840 pro to test, hopefully it will work this time.

Unfortunately my retailer (avell) don't offer the m500 as an option.

I recorded a video showing the drive appearing and disappearing on the bios. Doesn't happen using the plextor m5s at all. There some Portuguese on the video cause I recorded to my retailer but still possible to see the issue.

Is it just me or did they use a worse display panel on this one than on the last gen model?, i dont know its just missing something, clarity or POP.

its hard to explain or maybe I just got used to it now :) I'm talking about the 9170, the screen used to be better on that one.

Do you happen to have both? You can install HWInfo and see the exact models of monitors installed.

Hey guys and girls, first post here! :)

    I had a question regarding the Clevo P372SM-S with 120hz 3D screen

I have just ordered one and I was wondering what is my best option to be able to Use the screen to play the PS3 on.

Now I know it is only HDMI OUT, but it has a Thunderbolt port which I have been told is INPUT and OUTPUT.

Is there any way with an adapter to be able to plug the PS3 (HDMI) into the Thunderbolt port?

I have been told this may work Blackmagic Design: Intensity

    Can anyone confirm this?

    thanks!
    Anthony

Looks like that would work just fine. Any video capture card should work too, you would just want to make sure it has HDMI in on it.
But why play PS3 on there when the notebook will blow away the graphics and performance :)
