Has anyone had this happen to them yet? The charge light (amber/orange) indicates that the battery is being charged even when I'm not plugged in. When I'm plugged in to the power adapter, it doesn't show it charging at all, yet the orange light is still there. The light stays on even when I shut the laptop off.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

That is pretty interesting. I can only think of one thing. Try this--unplug the AC power and run the laptop on battery until it turns off. Play a HD video or do something extensive to drain it much faster. Hopefully it resets itself to a different state.

Yeah the fact that it doesn't change to "charging" when I plug in the power adapter worries me. It just says "plugged in not charging" no matter what.

    A couple more suggestions:

    (i) Change the Battery Life Extender setting in (Easy) Settings.
(ii) With the mains power disconnected turn over the computer and poke an unbent paperclip through the hole in the bottom (look for a rectangle with cross in it icon) to disconnect the battery. Does the charge light still stay on? Then hold down the power button for half a minute to clear any corrupted BIOS settings after which reconnect mains power (the battery should be automatically reconnected).
