Adaptive Brightness has traditionally been hard to defeat on Samsung laptops because there are no less than FIVE different places to disable it. More recent versions of Settings improved the situation, but if you still cannot seem to turn Adaptive Brightness off, then check the following posts.

The latter post is in an appropriately titled thread which contains much of our useful discussion about defeating Adaptive Brightness.

Is there any way to correct the yellows when running on battery? I have seen other posts reference a new driver and a link to download it but it now says Page Not Found. All of my drivers are up to date according to the Samsung software update program.

Just got a brand new ATIV Book 9 plus!!! I'm in love with it! But.. The screen keeps flickering!! It happens at least once an hour.
Does this issue affect every single unit or just some? I might return it if this issue only affects only some units.
If this issue affects every single unit what is the proper fix??
Are there any owners that have never experienced this problem before?
Thanks!!! -
See if this post helps with the flickering. -
What exactly does panel self refresh do??
-
It's s power saving technique. I just googled it, which yielded this and other informative hits. -
Thanks!
Also, the flickering I have is not light flickering. The screen literally goes black and then back on in rapid sequence. It usually stops on its own. This is the what you guys mean by flickering right?? -
-
-
I noticed that when I keep the adaptive display technology on and the panel refresh technology on, my battery life is expected to increase by about an hour and a half. These are features that I would like to keep on if possible. I feel like out of all the reviews I have read only a few people have mentioned this problem. I will most likely exchange this unit for a different one.
-
For any screen related issues, disable the options in sansung utility. Then if you see issues you have screen hardware problems.
Good luck. -
I see you have the same model as me. Did you have this flickering problem as well?
Also, when pressing the touch screen in normal use, it is normal to have very slight wobble right? As in if there is a reflection on the screen you can clearly see the reflection jumping around a little bit. It's not a lot just wondering if that is normal. -
Issues with laptop:
This has been a great computer for me, but its not without issues.
- Clicking sound happens on the right side of the computer when it is under some load, but goes away after a little while.
- Latest touchpad driver does not have the option to invert two-finger scrolling (I rolled back, but don't know why I can't invert) -

So does anyone have any good 3200x1800 wallpapers? Anything cool looking. Or any good websites where I can find some?

Hello guys,
New AB9 plus owner here
Really enjoying this laptop but i feel like the keyboard is absolutely horrible. Does one get used to this if so how long does it take? (i usually type 100+ wpm on mechanical keyboards but barely managing about 80 on this laptop) -
I'd like to buy this laptop but have a few questions from the owners. I guess I'm at the right place
What is like to browse through websites with such high resolution? Letters should be very small on 13" and 3200x1800... Or you just change the browser's zoom settings to like 300-400%?
Most of the time I'd be using this laptop for browsing and sometimes for playing the only game Dota 2. I know there are many benchmarks available but I'd like to get your opinion whether it's playable?
Thanks -
I think this laptops keyboard is great. Sure, they key travel isn't as much as a thinkpad, but I don't think this keyboard could possibly be any better than it already is given how thin this laptop is. I can type plenty quick on this laptop. Out of any ultrabook out there i'd say this has one of the best keyboards.
Enjoy your new machine, I am loving mine! -
-
I am running at 3200x1800 at 150% windows scaling and its awesome.
Even office word and excel are superb at this resolution. -
hey guys, been skimming through the thread
the microsoft store is offering a refreshed model featuring 8gb ram and 128gb ssd. as far as i can tell its the same as the K03US but with double the ram?
also has anyone had experience with installing an aftermarket ssd on AB9+? such as this one .
if the crucial is indeed able to fit, then i see the new 8gb ram/128gb ssd as the best candidate for me. the i5/i7 difference is minimal from what i can tell.
thanks! -

BIOS Update:
I received a BIOS update for my Ativ 9 Plus today.
New version is: P03ACJ
Description "Improves stability". -
Did you install yet? Noticed any changes?
-
Thanks -
Hello fellow AB9+ owners. I bought mine about three weeks ago and have been very impressed so far. The laptop has been exceptional. Unfortunately, my son, working on a science fair project, accidentally splattered some super glue on the outside of my laptop. I was able to use a razor blade to remove the glue without scratching the outer casing but when I cleaned it up, residue spots from the glue remain. Any suggestions on removing? The case of the laptop is gorgeous and I would like to keep it in pristine condition. Thanks in advance.
-
OK, just updated my bios to P03ACJ successfully. Don't noticed any features in the Bios, colors look the same, and still missing fast start for lid actions. Guess update is mostly all 'stability' internal stuff. Who knows.

I would to get your feedback regarding touchscreen usability on the ultrabooks (laptops) in general. When I use my tablet, I just lie it down face up on the table and move my fingers on the screen.
How do you use touchscreen on the laptop? If you place it on the table, bend the screen like 135 degrees and try to navigate using your hand... I assume it's very easy to touch the keyboard with your forearm? If you lift your hand, it would get tired after a while. I imagine if you want fully to utilize the touchscreen, the only way is to buy convertible laptops like Lenovo Yoga etc?
Thanks for replies! -

You can also look in the registry and make sure the key DisableWhenType_Enable is set to 1. It crops up in several places. I don't know why the pad settings have to be repeated.

just saw the prompt for the bios update

I can't see any evidence that the Samsung XP941 will be compatible in the AB9+. Currently the only machine that I'm aware of that takes the XP941 is the new Sony Vaio Pro 13, and even then you still have to be careful and check the existing drive, because some are configured with M.2 SATA, and others are configured with M.2 PCIe -
As luck would have it, one of our customers had a look in his machine and found the following:
Existing SSD is Toshiba THNSNH256G8NT M.2 256GB.
Measurements: 22mm x 80mm x 3.58 mm.
Full model no. of his computer is NP940X3G-K05DE.
The SSD is a Toshiba HG6 model, and so that definitely makes it M.2 SATA 2280 . If the customer tries out the Crucial M500 M.2 480GB, I'll post back again with the results.
Spec sheet for Toshiba HG6 SSD is here:

I just bought the k03us from Microsoft and I installed some of the sw updates and upgraded to 8.1. I am not getting nearly the battery life that a lot of people have reported for this laptop. There is absolutely no battery wear on the laptop and I am running the Samsusng Optimized option at below 50% brightness. I am only getting like 5 hrs doing very basic web browsing, nothing really too intensive. How is that possible? I have seen most people report 7.5hrs+ runtime on this laptop, even with the yellow fix enabled. Can someone please help me figure out why I'm getting such poor battery life?

Hi, I've had my ativ book 9 plus for over a month now, everything is great except I'm having issues with the bluetooth. Every now and then it will just stop working and it will say code 43 when I look at its status in the device manger. I would usually just disable it and then enable it and it wouls start working again. However now I can't even find it listed in the control panel.
Does anyone have any recommendations? -
Hmm yea thats very interesting... does anyone know what the actual differences are (if any) about all the different model numbers for the 4gb/128ssd laptops? The one I purchased was from best buy for $1314 with K06US model #

Has anyone else had this problem?
I definately need the bluetooth to work, I use it for my mouse and to play music on a bluetooth enabled speaker.
I'm upset that for such an expensive laptop I have this issue! -
I don't have any issues with my Bluetooth. I use a Bluetooth mouse daily.
By any chance you switch between administrator and standard user accounts often? Samsung settings may have issues with standard Windows accounts. Make all your accounts administrator. -
I also use bluetooth mouse daily.
No issues so far. -
2 questions...
1. Anyone know if there is a 512GB SSD version of the AB9+ available anywhere? 256GB is pretty small for that machine. Or is it possible to upgrade or configure? Maybe a soldering iron?
2. Anyone know of any deals on the i7 8GB ram version? Looks like I missed the microsoft deal on the NP940X3G-K05US.bummer!
Time to retire my old MBA. Ive been running windows 8.1 on it because Im a windows guy, but tired of the incompatibilities (keyboard, no brightness control, etc.). The AB9+ looks like the next best thing. -
Does anyone have any idea why they moved the touchpad over to the right on this model? The Series 9 had the touchpad even with the spacebar. That made it perfect for typing because it was completely out of the way when you type, with no real chance of hitting it with your palm. For some reason, they decided to offset it a little to the right in the Ativ book 9, which kind of puts it in the way. It doesn't get in the way too much, but it definitely seems like it was placed better in the Series 9.

Hello, has anyone compared the keyboards of the Samsung 9 NP900X3E (silver rim of chassis), NP900X3F/X3G (both=black chassis/G=Haswell), and the 9 plus?
I was very disappointed with the X3E's keyboard (very loud noise when typing fast, rattly) and since there are so few decent ultrabooks showing up these days, I would like to make 100% sure that no other Samsung 13,3" (of the 9/9 plus series) has a better keyboard. Thanks a lot. I was quite pissed off when I heard that the 2014 15" version gets a ergonomically approved super-keyboard. WT*? How about giving this to *all* Series 9, long since?
Thank you a lot for comments. -
Apologies if this has been mentioned already but I recently upgraded the wifi on my AB9+ K04US with the Intel 7260NGWWB. I've been playing with it for over a week and it works fine. The upgrade procedure was painless and quick. I consistently connect at 780Mbps to my Asus RT-AC66U router. No issues that I have noticed yet (knock on wood).
This is what I upgraded to: Newegg.com - Intel 7260.NGWWB Wireless Adapter IEEE 802.11ac M.2 NGFF 867 Mbps Wireless Data Rates - Wireless Adapters
