anyone have a fix for this? Using late/great driver set from AMD with Windows 8.1 - everything works great - fabulous in fact, except the Display related Function + Keys are of no effect so cannot easily toggle external monitor [and have it display right]... must use CCC to do all those tasks.

    what to do?

The usual fix for Fn key related problems is to reinstall Samsung's Settings program.

Sometimes it is necessary to use SW Update to find for a newer version of Settings for another notebook. It's a generic program intended to work with all the recent Samsung notebooks although there are a few glitches.

Use the Find Model facility in SW Update to manually locate your model (United States > Series 3). I see drivers / software are listed for Windows 7 / 8 and 8.1.

ok. had to update the updater.
it shows the later amd drivers but nothing else of interest. do they simply pass-through the link to AMD's download or does Sam modify the installer to include functionality? I prefer dealing with the Devil I know, all things assumed equal

It may be that since this platform is AMD-only without Intel then the standard AMD drivers will work, if you can get them. Sometimes AMD wants people to get the drivers via the notebook vendor.

Keep a copy of the driver you know works OK and make a Windows restore point then start experimenting.

well, that exercise was a bust. the software updater simply finds nothing at all related to 'Samsung settings' or other key-assignment/HID/kbd utilities or systemwares. its very threadbare.
and I'm not touching the bios update.... yikes. too many grenades going that route with Sammy. everything else on the system is fairly pristine with 8.1 so I don't want to rock the boat too much.

If SW Update automatically nothing then you can use the Find Model facility to search the entire database.

It's very useful for getting newer versions of drivers.

I meant newer drivers than the ones offered for your notebook because you can look at what is offered for other versions with similar hardware.
