I have a older Sandy Bridge era Intel HD 3000 with AMD 6490M; replaced wifi card with a 7260 that happily works with AC. I am wondering if WiDi or Miracast will work on this machine. I use Samsung Link on it (and SideSync from a phone to this computer), but on windows 8.1 the "project" option doesn't show "Add wireless display". Am I out of luck?

For drivers I was previously on Leshcat drivers (which aren't WDDM), but even after uninstalling them and attempting to install Intel's latest WDDM drivers, no luck. Internets suggests issues with Miracast on Windows 8.1, wondering if rolling back to windows 8 may help.

    Thanks for reading!

Based on the list here you should be able to tick the hardware boxes provided the AMD GPU isn't getting in the way.

For software see the links here.

However, not many people have tried running WiDi on their Samsung notebooks and even fewer have succeeded. There's this thread (which you may have found) that is nearly a year old. I would have hoped that the 8.1 compatibility issues have been fixed by now.

If you have a z5c then you have nvidia graphics. 6490m is for the z3a model only.

It sounds like member winsettz does indeed have a Z3A, Z3B or Z5B, since he described it as a Sandy Bridge model with Intel HD 3000 and AMD 6490M. But you are right that the name of this thread indicates NP700Z5C which is an Ivy Bridge model with Nvidia.

@winsettz : Maybe the thread was named incorrectly?
