I need to run an external USB3 HDD, but the Y cable it came with has a rather short 'USB Power' extension, as most such cables seem to have.

As the 13.3 Series 9 900XD I have only has 2 USB ports, on either side of the laptop body, I need a Y cable with a long USBPower extension...

A Google has not provided any positive hits - anyone got any info on such a cable?
(I really don't want to use an extension cable is at all possible)

Have you checked that you actually need to use the power cable? All the various U2B 3.0 (and 2.0) 2.5" HDDs in my collection will run off one USB port of my Series 9s and other computers, even netbooks. Some manufacturers include a Y cable for the rare eventually that a single cable won't work. It's some years since I bought one with a Y cable.

If you do need an extension then a simple USB 2.0 extension (A male to A female) will suffice on the supplementary power cable (which usually comes out of the main power / data plug).

You are right - the one USB port works perfectly!

    Thanks :D
