I have had Samsung Update Plus set to automatically check, download and install updates. However, I recently manually checked for updates with it and it gave me two options, a new BIOS version and an Atheros WLAN driver. I chose to install the Atheros WLAN driver and when I restarted I get no WLAN. Can someone point me to a driver which will work?

Double check that the new WLAN driver has not reset your settings.
Windows is very sensitive about new drivers/settings, especially for WLAN. You may find that XP no longer has information on your WLAN settings (such as SSID, Passkey and TCP/IP information).
Also check there are no conflicts.

If you mean the whole WLAN has failed so that you can't get anything whatsoever on the WLAN (as in no light on front, not detectable in Windows), try rolling back the driver and/or installing the driver manually.

Double check your BIOS settings to should all else fails.

If the light is on on the front for your WLAN, it is 99% probable it's a software/driver problem.

Check your settings in Control Panel > Network Connections and have a good overview on what's been set for what!
Also double check your driver is OK in Device Manager!
