    Sounds pretty hot, another sigh that Samsung isn't in the US yet.

    that X700 graphics card is a really nice feature for that size laptop, students all over Germany can play games to their hearts content instead of doing work with this laptop!

    Haha! :p

    That's an insane laptop, and in such a small package! I wonder why more manufacturers haven't stuck a nice GPU like that into a lightweight, relatively small notebook.

    If Samsung could come to the US and sell to us..that would ba amazing. Those notebooks would sell like hot cakes!

    I dunno about importing them..
    Check this:
    Samsung X20 1860 SE
    Here the specs:
    * Pentium M 750 (1,86 GHz)
    * 1024 MB Ram
    * X700 128 MB
    * 80 gb HDD 5400 rpm
    * Bluetooth
    * 15" SXGA+ TFT, 1400x1050
    * improved cd/dvd drive

    Euros $1499 ( I beleive including VAT (tax))
    Canadian $2132 (if so then these are taxed values)
    US $1802 (same as above)

    ASUS Z70va
    Sames Specs but with 3 years warranty and faster ram DDR2 500mhz
    Canadian $1861 and [2140 with 15% tax]
    US $1575 and add your own tax per state you live in :D

    Now considering Importing (shipping and Handeling and Customs both for Canadian and US)

    How many Canadians or American are willing to pay those prices? For a NON Widescreen Laptop? I know the X50 is a widescren laptop but still, its expensive IMO.

    BTW im Canadian and im Seriously looking on importing this baby. You must be thinking am i willing to pay ( i think so, i hope so LOL!)

    Comments?

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

    Studentbook does it definitely for students in the E.U.
    But - as I know - they aren't very happy to send notebooks to the U.S. or just outside the E.U.

    Ich habe die FAQ gelesen:

    Ich habe einen englischen, thailändischen, amerikanischen (...) Studentenausweis - kann ich auch bei Ihnen bestellen?

    Ja, gerne! Hauptsache, Sie sind Student. Wo Sie das sind, ist nicht relevant.

    He read in their FAQ.
    Q: I have English, Thailand ... or US student card, can order I from you. A: The point is that you are a student and the rest in not relevant.

    Nice surprise, though I am not sure they are able to estimate all costs and complications involved in notebook import from Europe to the US!

    As I told, studentbook.de is not the cheapest place to get samsung notebooks in germany. Try to compare with www.hoh.de. You can check the site http://geizhals.net/eu/?o=53 for various notebook prices in Germany and Austria. Sometimes one can find better offers in Switzerland (use search.ch).

    Edit: Just found by chance better offers than at studenbook:

    NorskIT is very dubious. E. g. there are again and again cases that customers payed for products and they never see their products or the money.
    Pay better 50 EUR more and have no complications.

    I wrote a e-mail to Studentbook.de regarding shipping to US/Canda.
    This is what I've got back:

    Hallo,
    ich fürchte nein, wir hatten schon einmal einen Haufen Ärger mit dem Zoll, weil wir einem Kunden Gutes tun wollten. Wenn Sie z.B. die Adresse von Verwandten hier in Deutschland angeben können, an die wir das Book schicken, würden wir das gerne tun. Die Verwandten/Freunde könnten Ihnen dann als Privatpersonen das Book als Geschenk schicken. Wäre das ein gangbarer Weg?

    I'm afraid not, one time we had problems with customs because we wanted to help a customer. If you for instance could give us the address of family members here in Germany who we could send the notebook to, we would gladly do this. Your family members/friends could send the notebook to you as a present. Would this be a more suitable way?

    for all those ppl who don't speak German....
