    NP530 U4C AO1 UK - Generic Intel HD 4000 Graphics Driver

    I have the above computer running windows 10, version 1709.

    It has all been good running Win 10 with a Samsung Evo 850 SSD since upgrading from Win 7. I have mothballed the integrated the iSSD and I have not activated the Express Cache software to prevent any failure of the iSSD, so whilst it is still "in there", it is not used.

    Lately, I've been trying to Sweet Home 3D to update some house extension designs. I haven't used it in over a year and it forced me to upgrade to their latest free version.

    Obviously, this computer is no speed demon but it worked ok before, a little slow but perfectly adequate.. Now is totally snail pace, it is pretty much unusable even in plan view without the 3D rendering etc. There is a long thread on the E teks - Sweet Home 3D I found extending over many many pages.

    The computer shows no excessive CPU or memory usage strain, in fact processing stays at very low levels....

    Most success seems in the thread I read, was around updating the intel HD 4000 graphics driver to latest...

    However:

    Whilst there is a very recent HD 4000 driver v 15.33.45.4653 23 May 2017.

    There is a warning my computer is running a c ustomised Graphics Driver by samsung 10.18.10.4242 16 June 2015.

    So, for anyone who has experience of moving to a generic graphic driver on a HD 4000 samsung, will it cause any problems or loss of functionality?

    Samsung didn't do anything. Install the latest driver from Intel.

    thanks for the reply. I read further in the software thread for the designing program I had a problem with and the software developer had deployed some options to install the 64 bit software as if it was 32bit and also run some earlier version of Java 3D.

    Don't really know what all that was about but I tried it and it worked.

    Others have needed to update the graphics driver as well but mine now seems ok. Do you think it worth upgrading to the newer Intel HD4000 graphics driver or just let sleeping dog lie?
