Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place. Feel free to move it if it is.

Does anyone know if the NP700Z5B or C assemblies will work with this model?

My display died and i dont really feel like destroying the bevel to rip the thing apart, only to then perhaps find out its actually the cable that has died and not the LCD. I figured getting the entire assembly would be easier but Samsung havent been very helpful. Their online chat guys gave me a number and an email. I emailed them and they never replied. I called them and they informed me that they dont service notebooks (this is in Canada).
They gave me a number for a company called E Link. I have called them twice and left messages twice as don't get through to anyone.
Im looking at just buying one off Ebay but the only one in decent condition that is the same colour (metallic silver) as my unit is for the NP700Z5B. Im not sure if it would be compatible.
If anyone has any experience with this that they would like to share I would very much appreciate it.

    Cheers,

    Shane

According to SamsungParts.com the Z5A display part number is BA59-03144A with a description of "LTN156KT06-8,156HD+,SMS LCD PANEL-156HD+". The listing for Z5B parts shows the same panel. However, the Z5C display is BA96-06188A described as "NIKE-15R,-,15_INCH,300NIT,-,-,N ASSY LCD". However, the Z5C review here suggests that the Z5C is also basically the same as the Z5A and it is possible that the different part numbers represent (i) the display panel and (ii) the complete display assembly.

There looks to be a reasonable chance that the Z5B has a lot of compatibility with the Z5A and may be compatible with the Z5C. If the display unit is the same part then it is possible that the display cable is the same but one really needs so see the inside of each notebook to confirm if the display cable connection to the mainboard is in the same location but if the exterior of the computer (including port locations) is the same then it is possible that the internal layout is very similar.

I hope this helps a little.

Thanks John. That was very helpful. I have found someone local with an NP700Z5C assembly for sale. He says it will work and he is happy for me to take my laptop there to try it. I will post back here anyway if it works or doesn't work and hopefully it will help someone else in the future if their display fails.
The display assembly does look exactly the same so finges crossed :)
I could only find guys on ebay in the states and just lucked out that i found someone locally

So I can confirm that the NP700Z5C display assembly did indeed work with my NP700Z5A.
The mother board had to be removed to get at the hinges so they could be popped and the new unit fitted. Typing this on my working again laptop :)

Yep was very quick. As I said I lucked out and found someone locally who had the part I needed in stock so was able to test it before taking it apart.
He used to work for Samsung before moving to Canada apparently.
I had been working with my laptop connected up to just my monitor so its nice to have my actual screen back.
Thanks again for your help John.
