I bought a refurbished NP700Z5B and it seems dead. Looking for any ideas before I return it.

When I press the power button, the lights come on and I can hear the fans start, but after a variable amount of time, say 2-5 seconds, it just shuts down (with maybe a little flicker off the keyboard backlight when it does). I've tried disconnecting the battery and also pulled out the one memory module I can access, but it behaves the same way. After I've reset the battery it does seem to stay running a bit longer (closer to 5 seconds).

Nothing ever appears on the screen.

    Thanks,
    Chris

The other RAM is soldered on the board. If that has a problem a new board will be needed. Did you

The other thing I would try is to disconnect the HDD. If that has an electronic problem then the BIOS can't identify it (the same might happen with a damaged cable). If the drive is disconnected the BIOS should realise there isn't one and proceed to the next step (hit F2 to get the BIOS setup).
