I'm torn on this now. The Via chipset isn't as good as an intel atom IMHO, and the battery life is just poor compared to the NC10.

Oh man, I hate glossy screens... but I love the 12" design. If this is really $500 I'll probably recommend it to my g/f to buy... and complain to Samsung about the glossy screen lol.

Is it just me or has the release of this netbook been ridiculously quiet?

Sometimes the Samsung notebooks reach the shelves before they make any official announcements. A couple of years back, the R20 was available to buy in UK several weeks before it was shown as a new product at CEBIT.

It's also possible that stocks won't be very big to start with. The NC10 had a quiet launch but they still flew off the shelves. Why spend money on advertising if it's not necessary?

Also Insight (who are usually reliable) while dabs is showing 3-4 days for both white and black. About a week back dabs had the white as as few days. I wasn't watching to see if stock came and sold out, since dabs was one of the first UK sites to list the NC20 for pre-ordering (about 2 weeks ago). Amazon.co.uk is also listing the NC20, but at a somewhat higher price.

So it looks as if the month in the thread title is correct!

That's interesting. But the NC20 claims to be able to play 1080p videos and is significantly faster, the Atom N280 can only play 720p, and the Lenovo is more expensive? What gives?

Different Chipset - Via not Intel. Better onboard Graphics and more powerful processor without the associated Intel restrictions. BTW mine just arrived a White one from Dabs, first thoughts are extremely favourable, I also have a Dell 12 and access to a few other netbooks. I'll post a bit later on my first impressions and of course ask away, I guess it's time to start an offical NC20 thread as it is now available :)
