Windows 7 (32-bit) can address up ot 4GB, but only uses around 3.3GB.

Why in the world did Samsung choose a 32-bit OS anyway? It's not like it's a lot cheaper than the 64-bit version.

Yeah! That's why!!! Idiots at samsung! I was really going to choose thus model over Sony vaio cw26 because of it's 1gb gt330m compared to vaio's 512mb... Until I saw this.... If I'm to get this samsung I would get a 64bit os....

That's part of the reason why too I'm opting for Sony when I get a notebook today. Why should I shell out another ~US$150 for more memory support? The Sony CW is way more worth it. 1600x900 screen, better Core i5 processor, win-win for me.

hmm in singapore the price for r480 is SGD$1699 and for sony vaio cw 26 its SGD $1799.

r480 is $100 cheaper than sony vaio cw 26

singapore version r480 comes with i5core 520 the same as sony vaio cw 26

    same 4gb ddr3 ram

    r480's gt330m is 1gb while sony vaio cw 26's gt330m is 512mb
(not much of a difference in performance but for games like GTA4 when you need more GPU memory to step up the graphic settings, its important)

the rest is pretty much the same...

saw it in a local store yesterday, compared the 2 models and sony vaio is more of a beauty than the sumsung r480, in fact sumsung r480 is not as good looking as when i see it on pictures in the internet when looking at it face to face.

design wise comparing the sides, monitor, back, bottom sony vaio cw wins hands down.... but i noticed sumsung r480's bottom has more air vent hole.

sumsung r480 is 100g lighter but a few mm wider and longer than sony vaio cw

i was about to choose sumsung r480 because of the cheaper price and 512mb more gpu memory when i found out that it comes with a 32bit OS....

    so pissed!

back to sony vaio cw 26

which sony vaio caught your eyes?

I know I said the CW is the better deal, but now I'm opting for something a little larger.. the EB series. The model I'm looking at has a Core i3 330m, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 5650 1GB (albeit underclocked), 1080p screen, 500GB HDD, and Blu-Ray drive -- all for around US$1000. Was supposed to be available two weeks ago but still not available in stores unfortunately. Asked a couple of stores and they said there's no solid release date. :(

Haha I was aiming at the acer aspire 5942g which comes with either the i7core or i5core version. It's a 15.6" lappy with ati 5650 gpu too. Design is rather futurisitic. But having seen the owner of this baby complainig about screen problems it totally turned me off. I like 14" lappies, i think it's neither too small nor too big, weight and performance is like the best of both worlds. Oh the acer i5core version cost sgd$1798. $1 cheaper than the Sony vaio cw26 lol. Anyway in Singapore acer has a bad reputation of having faulty lappies. Wonder if it applies to the rest of the world....

Am getting either asus n61jq or Sony vaio cw26 next 2 days time. But I have a feeling I will be getting a Sony. Haha... Most probably.... :)
